Everyone always requests high notes but what about low notes? Like the one Geoff sings in Oogie Boogie's Song towards the end. It's a subharmonic so this should be interesting if you even see this.
he'd have to watch Geoff's tutorial and then practice like hell to hit those lows, Geoff's a beast and a "sexy beast" at that, as Chris Jericho would put it.
Theres a stigma that high notes are harder than low notes but honestly it just depends on the person. And just working to get the proper tone and fullness of your voice plus being able to hit any pitch on command takes a lot of constant work and care no matter how high or low it is
I know you did Deftones already, specifically those high screams from Rodleen, but Id still love to see you attempt the longass high scream from Chino towards the end of their song Royal, its nuts
Fuck yeah the fact that that song follows the title track to start that album means that it kicks your ass right away and gets you engaged. Excellent album 🔥🤘🏻
the ending scream of royal is actually an inhale scream so if you practice a little bit its not too difficult to hold. Reaching the pitch and way he holds it with no cracks is very difficult
"Cathedral spires" - one of the lesser known gems of Judas Priest. I would LOVE to hear Rob Halford sing the vocals - I can clearly hear them in my head, with all the sublime undertones one would conotate with Rob, and it's something that just needs to be a thing.
The reason Ripper's songs are neglected by JP is because Rob can't sing them. Rob is a tenor, Tim is a baritone, Rob has no power and grit in lower registers the way Tim has. Even though Rob is a metal god, that's the truth.
Fun fact: the original studio recording of Jesus Christ Superstar had Ian Gillan as Jesus, hence why that song has that insane scream. Speaking of, Child in Time by deep purple would be an awesome challenge, so many screams
Periphery - Satellites from 4:33 - 5:33 in the song goes from some really good distorted vocals to some of the most insane mixed vocals I have heard. If you gave it a try that would make my year.
As an aspiring vocalist myself, my favorite thing about Alex’s now-iconic super low growls is how good his enunciation is. Indistinguishable toilet sounds are fun and all, but I feel that sometimes they can become a crutch rather than a tool, and Alex really breaks that mold.
Obscure (Live at Download 2013) - Dir en Grey The high shrieks and low growls are insane on their own, but the insanely fast switches between them make them almost inhuman.
Man, I just love the fact you sang Cathedral Spires. For me this song is an all-time favorite, the kind of song who gives you a massive nostalgia. I really hate the fact that JP forgot about this album and in particular this masterpiece, who is one of the reasons I started listening metal music back in the 00's. I beg you, sooner or later do a proper cover of this piece and just shine the lights on this little gem.
@@Memorh19 Now from what I checked he has not but that doesn’t mean that I’m right so if you could be so kind to prove me right or wrong It will be gladly appreciated
@@BlanketIsComfy oh! You know what? I might be wrong. Maybe I'm not remembering right and he sang just part of the song in one of the "Vocals you said I can't sing" videos. Anthony accepted the challenge and included maybe 20, 30 seconds of Master Exploder. Haha.
I would LOVE to see you sing "Periphery - Satellites" from 5:05 - 5:35. This is some insane shit imo and I would love to see whether you can pull it off :)
I'm convinced you can do anything with your voice that you want to, maybe some things will take more practice than others, but I feel like you can sing anything you attempt
Yeah, he's good! I think the only reason people don't like him is he was the Anette Olzon of Judas Priest and people were like "NOBODY can replace Rob (which is true), but still, his own flair is awesome! He definitely has energy and power behind his voice.
Loved "The Glorious Burden" when it came out, but Owens had the incredible misfortune to be a great singer that replaced not one, but two even greater singers (although I still think Matt Barlow never came even close to his "Alive in Athens" performance on any studio record with Iced Earth. Ashes of Ares is a different story though).
Thank you so much for reminding me to practice, and not give up on learning new music and trying new styles. You're an inspiration. Thank you, Anthony Vincent
How about Highlander from Lost Horizon? There's one insanely high scream in it (much higher than Steel Heart) at 7:16 and there's another anthem-like "na na na" part at 8:32. It's absolutely crazy. And Dino Jelusick's metal version of Jessie J's Bang Bang scream rnb run. It's absolutely insane.
That fulfills my need to hear you tackle Diamonds and Rust with Ripper at the helm. I didn't even think about Cathedral Spires. Awesome man. Appreciate it ☺️
Thank you Anthony! This Gethsemene is the one I always wanted you to do and I knew you could do it. You have really impressed me though. I was also so impressed with you singing Cathedral Spires! Haunting! You are an amazing singer! 🙂 PS: Please try Child In Time. Many of us would like you to do. 😃
So many hardcore songs, you said you’d like to try more runs. The run in the end of Dimash singing “sinful passion” is something I don’t think you could do. Especially because it’s all in one breath.
same. been fascinated by the song for nearly two decades now and it's mostly because of that part. I usually don't listen to it for quite a while and I go back to it and I'll go "yeah, this is a great song" and then her vocals come on and it always gets me. A bit like mogwai fear satan with the big noise explosion after the 3 minute lull.
Try Beast in Black's song "Ghost in the Rain" -- specifically the final "IN THE RAAAIIIIIIN" around 4:30. Few can match Yannis Papadopoulos' incredible range!
Cool that you give a shout-out to 'Jugulator'. Massively underrated album in my humble opinion. And yes, 'Cathedral Spires' totally rocks everyone's socks off.
You make me envious of your technique and sheer skill. Well done. Id like to hear you try out Einar Solbergs vocals. Try anything off of Leprous’ new album - but maybe specifically the last chorus/part of Castaway Angels?
It would be insanely impressive if you could do anything at all from the song "Yokusou Ni Dreambox" Aruiwa Seijuku No Rinen To Tsumetai Am by Dir En Grey but particularly the section from 4:15 to the end. Hands down the most terrifying vocal performance I've ever heard
Anthony, try Justin's bridge from Tallah - Overconfidence, around 2m40s. Also, I think you may like to try the verse as well, especially the ending, when Justin is rapping while keep adding distortion to the vocals
Love to see the love for Jugulator! Again, I have to request you try (and after seeing you do cathedral spires I'm sure you can, but I want to see it anyways) the scream at 3:30ish in For All by Ember Falls. It's honestly such a good sounding scream and I'd love to see your take on it. Love the vids!
Great video as always Vincent!! Please try "The Magic Flute - Queen of Night Aria" from 0:40 to 0:53, and if you are feeling adventurous then from 0:29 to 0:53. Cheerio ;)
One of my favourite vocal lines is at the end of Devin Townsends song Ki from the album Ki, the raw power and emotion alongside the wall if sound is absolutely astonishing. Give that a try.
Please do try Buried Alive by Black Sabbath, around 1:10 into the song, starting with the line "Join the congregation" and end at "You're buried alive". It contains Dio's highest notes during his year in Black Sabbath, so I am curious to see you attempt this song.
@@GroteB getting that high on Buried Alive is not what I see as impressive. It's how Dio sang the verse and and chorus that I think is among the best, which he just so happened to hit the high note. And I want to see Vincent tackle it. Also, I am very aware of the reunion as I watched their very few live performances religiously. Dio hit that intro _impossibly_ high, an amazing for someone reaching 50.
Wonderful work. I wish I could sing that high, but my range is limited. I hope when this pandemic is over you can get out there and play some shows on tour.
I would love to hear Anthony attempt the intro to “Idiot” by Every Time I Die up to the lyric “Paralyzed till the flesh crawls right off my bones.” One of the most intense screams I’ve ever heard put to music, it still gives me chills after 7 years.
@@TenSecondSongs my favorite, is the David Bowie - Enter Sandman rendition. You have no idea how many times I have shared and listened to that... Thank you for everything. I really hope that if Set The Charge ever comes out here to Salt Lake City, I can take the time off to come see you and everyone.
No sarcasm at all. I truly loved that version. I do hope you can make it out here to Utah at some point. I would absolutely love to see you live. I am an over the road truck driver, and there has been a lot of days where your music and humor has made my job so much more fun.
Your voice is great! I really would like to sing with such techniques and so easily as you do. Please can you do - Black veil brides - Perfect weapon screams 👏🏻🙏🏻
I would still push “Scatman” or “Scatmans World” … mainly the bridge Part of the fist verse would also be nice “What the Scatman can do wel brother so can you”
PLEASE attempt the weirddd fucking melodic scream thing Travis Ryan from Cattle Decapitation does. A couple songs with good examples: Dead Set on Suicide 0:40 - 1:00 Lifestalker 2:30 - 2:50 Check out the behind the scenes of him recording vocals to especially hear what it sounds like without the dense mix around it too, it's such a wild and nuanced sound with some tunnel throaty air pockety stuff happening.
fourth time asking lol... you almost did cradle of filth but didnt! please please the lows and highs of dani are amazing!! would love to hear those from you. these sound more reasonable than the ladt request. cruelty bought thee orchids 04:12 - 04:30 or beneath the howling stars 02:29 - 03:00 dont ever stop anthony!
Dani Filth is an amazing lyricist and vocalist - It took me awhile to get into his singing style but his lyrics hooked me immediately. Bathory Aria is still my all time favorite.
he cant speak fluent Russian and on top of that he has said time and again he cant do Death Metal vocals, especially not to the degree Alex can, dude doesnt even need a mic, son of a bitch.
An interesting idea for him to try would be the vocals from "Alleviate" by Leprous. The part from 2:28 onwards. Or possibly "On Hold" from Leprous' new album from 6:30 onwards.
Dude I’d love you to check out Dimlim sometime! Their early stuff like Vanitas has some crazy inhale screams/whistle parts similar to how Dir Ein Grey did their stuff. I’d love you to check out the entire Vanitas song cuz there are a lot of impressive techniques but in particular, there’s one crazy part just before the final chorus. Even the last chorus hits some pretty high notes that are difficult to hit and sustain.
7:40 fun fact : JP didn't disown it just because it's a Ripper album. Ripper's other album, Demolition, is available to stream. Jugulator specifically is absent because of issues involving the record label that released that album in particular. Very cool song, regardless.
