The first time I heard this song I was laying in my bed tripping on acid and his voice was turning me into an eagle flying over mountains and when he said would you let it go i said yes and just as I said that I exploded and had the most amazing trip ever like I was traveling through time with the whole song and he was guiding me. Screw the wall listen to how the gods kill if you ever trip.
@@albertgein3082 All legit answers. Glen was interviewed about his vocal influences. He cited Elvis, Jim Morrison and Roy Orbison. When asked why, he simply replied: "Because they are cool."
Danzig is really into the occult, and this is reflected in a lot of his lyrics. Chances are that How The Gods Kill is meant literally, not metaphorically
Occultism has a lot to do with the search for knowledge that is often said to be held in secret by said Gods. He's saying he's willing to sacrifice himself in his pursuit. The entire song is about allowing one's Will to become further personified.
They God’s historically killed you with the thing you most valued or think most of about yourself. It’s an integral part of most mythology. Even Christianity teaches, “after pride, comes the fall.” That why humility is taught across religious boundaries.
Listening to Misfits you're gonna learn quickly that Danzig really really really likes skulls. Having said that, listen to their song "Skulls" "Scream" and "Halloween" are also good.
It's so fuckin great seeing someone appreciate Danzig, man. I along with others spend a lot of time mocking Glenn for the way he is, but it's insane how incredible of a songwriter he is. Danzig 3 is the fuckin bomb.
We have met him a few times. He is incredibly smart and was a really cool guy. He also has a classical album that hit the Classical charts and did a bunch of comic books. We have them all signed along with a poster he did with Frazetta. He's played a demon on film and has started his own set of movies. He is VERY talented.
I remember when this album came out. I ama total Danzig fan. I grew up with The Misfits , Samhain and Danzig. Danzig 3 is my favorite Danzig album. Remember Glenn wrote all the music. He plays all instruments. Glenn is a true artist. Loads of new kids don’t know the people that made music that inspired their favorite musicians. Glenn was at the forefront of American punk. He is what people called black metal. Yes, he is self absorbed. He does have a chip on his shoulder. I love love the guy and I always buy what he puts out.
How The Gods Kill is my favorite Album ever it's so atmospheric and doomy. Danzig is a Punk and Metal legend!!! You should definitely check out early Misfits with Danzig aswell it kills
Brings me back to my highschool years. Loved Danzig. I use to record all the great music videos onto VHS and we would chill and watch hours of music videos.
Per Glenn its about the search for knowledge and understanding of oneself... To expand on that, it´s about how one feels he is living in his own darkness (lost), but wants to know the truth, and yet all that truth and power lies inside himself, as in "looking inside his empty soul" where the noose of all the undiscovered fears and insecurities lies; that prison which needs to be worked through, and let go. Hence "would you let it go" stands as both a question and a comment, and "show me How the Gods Kill" stands for the yearning to have all these doubts removed instantly, which is unrealistic. This song is truly about the quest for personal power and self-knowledge.
If you're going to own one Danzig album this is the album to get. Danzig 1 and 2 are fantastic and amazing and deserve all the praise and attention in the world but this album is a fucking timeless masterpiece.
That game has the best soundtrack, Alice in chains, guns and roses, Snoop Dogg, NWA, stone temple pilots... I miss when soundtracks could be that fucking awesome
@@rustlerv6549 i played this fame i dont kno 12 years ago or something the game was already old and i was way too young for gta. But still listeb to kdst the home of rockn roll with the only real dj tommy the nightmare smith.
Bro Danzig is a heavy baritone. Quite literally dark Elvis. Hell, he’s an Elvis album. Pushing 70, still killing it. You’ll like old Misfits. 9:27 Short, but they go hard. Late 70s. Raw. Cold War.
Yeah, Glen used to be really muscular (haven't seen a picture of him in a long time). He's also really small, 5'3''. That drummer is Chuck Biscuits. He used to play standing up, at least at live shows. And yeah, he goes hard, I watched him punch through not one, not two, but three (!) snare drum skins at a single show once.
Love Danzig, I'm a big fan of John Christ the guitarist! He has a great signature sound and plays Biches! Other favourites are Soul on Fire and I don't Mind the Pain from the extremely underrated 4p album.
4p is great! the first 4 danzig albums are all classics. i really like how they set 4p up with 66 tracks and make the album 61 minutes and 38 seconds. for you youngsters that never used a cd player, when the player reads the disc the display shows 66 61:38.
Happiness is within. True happiness does not come from anything outside ourselves. It's a choice,... Be happy or don't. Don't depend on ppl or circumstances to make you happy. You'll never be happy. Find joy within self and let it out
This man I've seen live more times than anyone else. I've seen the Misfits for the first time in 83. Many more with different lineups. Saw him with his second band Samhain and then Danzig. Danzig I've seen the most of course and I lost count at 26. Sistinas is a great slower along with Blood and Tears. My favorite song is Dominion which others scoff about but I don't give AF. Her Black Wings, Tired of Being Alive, Twist of Cain, Stalker Song and that's just my have to play all the time list and only Danzig because the Misfits are totally different and my first love so that list is pretty much all of them!
To get you started on Misfits here's a list of songs you should react to enjoy Alex! 1) Skulls 2) Halloween and Halloween 2 3) Last Caress 4) Astro Zombies 5) London Dungeon 6) She 7) Dig up her bones 8) Return of the fly 9) Crying on Saturday Night 10) Angelfuck 11) Vampira 12) American Psycho 13) Dead Kings Rise 14) Pumpkinhead 15) Horror Business 16) We are 138 17) Where eagles dare 18) Attitude 19) Mommy can I go out and kill tonight 20) Hollywood Babylon 21) I turned into a martian 22) Hatebreeders 23) All hell breaks lose 24) Who Killed Marilyn? 25) Ghouls Night Out 26) Die Die My Darling 27) Scream
Bring back more Danzig reactions and Danzig era Misfits!! I’d love to see your reaction to I’m the One, or any other songs off the first 2 albums. Also, London Dungeon, Some Kinda Hate, Come Back, She are a few good Misfits songs to check out
Danzig is heavy metal Elvis. What a great voice. I was a huge fan of Danzig when I was a kid. Liked a few Misfits songs but more into the Danzig stuff.
Almost as wide as he is tall. Yeah. He's a beast! With one hell of a set of pipes and a wild mind. Fabulous. Love Danzig. Like the Misfits too but I like them with Michale as well so...to me THIS is Danzig the way he should be. He just is IN it so much. This is one of my favorite songs. And I love to watch a person's face when they hear it the first time. Or more correct SEE it. You have to see HIM singing this song and that vid is just nuts! People always freak. I know I did. Thank you!🙏🤘😈
Danzig is super underappreciated in his time... but I really feel that in the future... he will be to Alternative Rock.. what Elvis was to Rock And Roll... he really is the progenitor of everything that came after him... from the Misfits thru Samhain to Danzig... his print is all over alternative rock
Those first 3 or 4 Danzig albums are great. Classics as far as I'm concerned. Fun fact: Glenn Danzig wrote songs for both Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison. Bonus fact: The "Danzig skull" used on their albums was actually ripped off from a comic book
damzig is the singer of the original misfits 77-83. check out their live shows from 82-83...sick. Misfits are my favorite band and danzig is my favorite male vocalist for over 30 yrs
Misfits for sure! Listen to a song with Glen Danzig and another with Michale Graves! I suggest, Misfits (Danzig) - “Die, Die My Darling” or “Mommy, can I go out & kill tonight?” Misfits (Graves) - “Dig up her bones” or “Scream” Hope you eventually react to these Alex!
When I was about 15-16 and holy cow I’m getting chills just starting to write this but true story me cousin introduced me and my other cousin and a buncha my friends in the 90s and instantly to the lyrics and the sounds,We partied a lot for 2 whole summers to Danzig,Anyways later in life we all got job and my one cousin ended up in jail around the time my other cousin his name was Vince who introduced us to Danzig went out to work in the oil make killer money…On his way him after a month on the oil patch he was returning home and decided to stop in an old town he lived in and drink at the bar with some friends,They tried to take his keys 🔑 and he fought them and left the bar and drove off and him and and another fella flipped their truck on a gravel road and drown in the river below upside down and died,Then after he passed away during the funeral my cousin Derek who was in jail I mentioned ended up getting a pass to get out for the funeral and ended up asking me if I wanted a tattoo cause he mentioned learned 4 years of tattooing during his stay in jail…So I asked him for the Danzig skull and he did an amazing job putting it on my shoulder and said he would work on it again but he ended up dying later in life he was murdered by some drug dealers with fentanyl,My belief to the awnser to the question about what is the Meaning of HOW THE GODS KILLS…Well I believe what happened in my story is how the gods they can take a life that was once given and not have any remorse what so ever cause we all sin but some sins cannot be forgiven and the gods will show you there is no forgiveness in the most dire situations…Check out the Danzig song called Soul On Fire 🔥please
I wasn't sure what the line "Show me how the gods kill" meant until you put it into perspective. You said that to hold on to happiness you have to hold on loosely, so he might be saying look at how the gods kill my happiness because you can't hold on to something good forever.
I've loved Danzig since he was in the misfits his voice it amazing when my oldest was worn he had colic cried alot I played Danzig he calmed down right away would get put in his crib fussy play Danzig he relaxed he's 28 now still loves Danzig
The truths that the heart and mind can unravel through gnoatic experience is by letting go. You got it. Let it flow through you, and become one with it. 😊
I'm glad you're liking this. I grew up listening to The Misfits and I saw this other RU-vidr say Michale Graves was a better vocalist than Glenn Danzig. Are we talking about the same Danzig who wrote a song for Roy Orbison and Johnny Cash?🤔 not to mention these 2 were Sun Records legends including The King Elvis Presley. You should check out his Elvis covers. Danzig delivers!
I find it comical that these people react to Anakin, killing the younglings so heartfelt(so did I, the first time). While not really grasping that they're witnessing the emergence of Darth Vader(I imagine a video of me watching it for the first time, would be exactly the same).
