My name is Hybridsteel and this channel is dedicated to gaming, more specifically Simulation gaming or Sim gaming for short.

Addressing comments and other things here. 1) Higgs heard the merger stuff from me. There is indeed a merger problem on the snow side of the harvester but it only applies in specific cases where snow can merge with other snow. A nonstop stream of ice and frost rock being airborne in a spot where more is airborne is indeed a problem and Higgs is using a LOT of gravity feeding atm 2) Verticals are an issue atm. Tis why Hybrid raised his harvester up to the same level as his sorting. Cutting out verticals after the harvester is a good safety measure 3) Stuff in carts is "mostly" a nonissue. The only cart of his I deleted that returned major frames was the one with pressure tanks. Those are notoriously laggy. 4) As for the run of belts to the surface... I believe that has to do with how the game addresses belting as a whole. It precalculates pathing to reduce the sheer amount of calculations it would be doing if it checked constantly for every resource in motion. Hybrid has a lot of winding paths to the surface and I speculate that is the biggest reason that was such an fps sink. I think a shipment of verticals is fine if they are all linear. I still need to deep dive this more. This also means you should try to avoid lots of twists and turns in your system. One or two from drill to harvester is fine for instance. Going overboard is not. And lastly, I managed to sneak up to a good 35 fps with settings on Ultra on my end to compensate for the gpu difference after making a lot of minor changes. Understandable that Hybrid would want to opt out of a few. Anyone wanting to poke our collective brains can find us on the official discord. It wasn't the issue persay. But it gave a few frames reprieve instead of being consistently bad. What we spotted was that having them out of sync was a stable fps at that scale. With them synced, they dropped the frames down to that same stable limit then slowly gained frames back in the space between. Lots of nitpicks went into finding frames until I managed to triple what he had beforehand. So that is one of many odd clutching at straws that actually made a slight difference.

I tried covering machines and belts (animations) with building blocks or leaving dirt/ice over them wich helped save a few FPS What you dont see isnt there

if you covered everything to save a few fps but its still dropped then it does still see them. Now if you covered them and you got a full lets say 60fps then it would be what u dont see matters. as long as the frames are dropping then thats just the joys of gaming with lots of things going on.

I got off of Vulcanidus and FPS was something I finally had 🤣. To battle your fps on lower end computers: Once a while delete all dirt chunks, they may stack in your harvester. Choose one plot, don't have setups in multiple. While you are afk running your machinery, look away, make them not loading on your screen. Oh and sort recourses off the conveyors by rarity, start with most common. And to beginners: shards lag the most because of the glow effect, those are priority for sorting, later they are like 4th on Vulcanidus in rarity.

Had to learn the shard in a hard way. I left my game for about an half an hour auto leaving them in a pan, as soon as i tried to pick them up my frames drop to 0 in a out 5-7 minutes

I've also heard from Higgs that mergers could be a potential cause of lag too. I think he said someone is looking into it but another small impact which can add up in multiple rows

we looked into it.. it didnt really make a difference we tried with and without mergers, using centralisers nothing really worked.

If their animation being out of sync causes the frame issue, wouldn’t it be even better to have ALL drills on the same pressure? You said the first row is not on the same value as the rest? Also I just noticed, are there no ore veins in your plot?

Does the game still animate things you can't see? If you just made a huge floor to cover your pit would that help?

dont know but i think even when the game upgraded to 2.0 that wasnt a massive factor anymore

As cool as they look in motion, I'm surprised they added such a complex animation on the big harvesters. if I'm not mistaken, there was a similar issue before with existing machines and because of that the animations were synced together to reduce lag (if I'm remembering correctly). While this fix for the harvesters is cool and I may try this on my save, it seemed that over the course of the video some began to go out of sync still. Also I believe the animation changes based on the stats of the harvester, so any that don't have identical stats will be off anyway which is a shame as I already find forge marks a pain to incorporate so just avoid them in general. It would be awesome if there was options in the settings to turn off or simplify animations for either specific machines or all of them (drills could still spin but don't retract and rotate body) Also one thing I tend to do to avoid items getting stuck on the end of a belt is use a bent pipe so the cork isn't sticking out. it seems some item have a habit of getting stuck on protruding corks.

the main bulk of my drills are in sync. the first row is out of sync through choice if i wanted them all to move at the same time then id divert the pipe and do the same as i did for the whole build with the first row.

Hey man, I've watched your streams, and I watched a load of your videos. one thing I've noticed is that you always have a dark shirt on, that hides your majestic beard and that makes me sad. Could you try to wear a light colored shirt so we can all marvel at your main?

If you look at the CPU and GPU usage it becomes painfully clear that this is a problem with parallelism and not a problem with resolution. That is, it's not a problem with how many triangles being pushed to the screen.

yes the more powerful drills that put out more could cause this problem faster.

@@Hybridsteel tbf you need way less buffed drills to achieve the same output. The great advantage is that instead of this many medium sized chunks on the conveyors, you get far less but bigger chunks. And to make them sync, just use the same forge marks. You know how to tell their values, right? ^^ Also you definitely dont need this many drills for any reason other than "because i can" xD

I don’t think it is animation look at gpu uses it’s running at 30-40% I don’t think the game not preloading the animations or physics engine is screwy this means 2 thing physics need to look at or find way to preload the objects in to catch or some how get that gpu usage to at least 80-70% i mean this has less animations on cyberpunk on screen and I bet it has better fps

I think it’s physics because way you have objects clipping each other… and falling in to smelter..

I don't think it's about animations at all. Most probable cause is that it either chucks all physics calculations on a single thread, or that it collates multiple threads highly inefficiently so it will just sit and wait for ages before pushing new frames. You can see this in the frame times going through the roof while the load stays really low. As to why rebuilding made the fps get better it's probably because once items are on the belt the computations get a lot easier and faster. So when the miners are in sync you get a few frames that take a REALLY long time followed by a number of faster ones. Then once it's averaged out the fps shows as slightly higher. Look carefully and you see the frame time spiking several ms everytime the miners cycle and things fall towards the belt.

TBH, Hybrid. I'd remove the smaller drills completely. you have the larger drills. do the smaller ones Really add that much production to the total? also, do you need to have the extra belts between the sorting belts? if you remove them would the sorting still work because that would save a couple FPS as well.

Its not a problem with your PC's. I have a 4080 Super and I9 11900k and I still get really bad FPS. Its an optimization problem. I run 30% GPU and 20% CPU on this game. Its not that your pc can't handle the game its that the game is not optimized to be able to run these sorts of builds. Even smaller builds I have problems with FPS. Games with beautiful graphics and open world scenery I run 244+ fps but this game I barely run 60. Definietely something the Dev's have to look into.

back before the dlc just on t1 drills alone icould run 1000 drills at this sort of pace since the dlc and the animation addons to the drills its the main reason why it has more problems. the game itself is very cpu heavy which is the main problem and as iv bee ncovering this game for 4 years on and off iv seen it work well, good and poor. id say that right now and at the end of its life it runs well enough for the average person as long as you dont build too big which is part of the problem as everyone wants to build big. devs have changed optimisation over the years but unforutnally how hydroneer is built it wont ever achieve that sort of massive level. its sort of why i stopped building big.

@@Hybridsteel it’s definitely cpu intensive. But still has optimization issues. They should look into making the game run like satisfactory if you have ever played that game. Big open world base building game just like hydroneer. Idk how they optimized that game but I run 180+ on ultra graphics and having way more buildings and moving items on conveyors. If you haven’t already looked into that game you should. Pretty similar to hydroneer and the game is still in early access. Would be a pretty cool game yo post videos about.

well this is max's second game.. the main issue is how the game was made in the first place its basically made on physics instead of of just static items on conveyor belts.. iv played satisfactory before on this channel was waiting till it hits version 1 which iv heard will be this year.
