Glad it was helpful! Thanks Mark. I figured that I wondered what was gong to happen when I called and I actually think it may make it easier for others to make the call. You always wonder what you're going to get into. Jeff was great and laid back for sure.
Why do they ask if you are retired? Do you have to be retired to buy a house there if you are 55+? Also, why do they ask you if you are planning to keep your house in Philly? Is there a price difference in the sale price if it is not your primary residence?
I haven't watched all your videos (although I'm working on it), but this video was incredibly helpful. I hope you continue to do these "What is the process for..." videos with actual interaction. So helpful...thanks.
Glad it was helpful! Unfortunately the Villages does not like the fact that I taped it so it will be hard to do. BUT...I will be doing more on my second visit. Thanks...
If the Home Owners/Sellers listed their home with ReMax, ReMax is the Selling Agent and gets a commission. If you are a Buyer, The VLS agents want to be your Buyer Agent and get the Buyers Agent commission. How is the Buyer and Seller Agents commission divided? Are both commissions paid by the Seller in FL?
Thank you for all the helpful information! Especially the area regarding age and singles. I'm an active young widow and glad you asked the questions. Looking forward to hearing about your journey.
This is perfect. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. My husband and I live in Hawaii and I am doing a lot of online research before jumping on that plane for the long 10-hour flight. Looking forward to seeing more of your informative videos.
THanks for stopping by. I'm sure the vids to come will be a little more raw so to speak as editing down there will be a little harder. THanks again for stopping by. RUsty
Hi Rusty, we've been watching a ton of your videos and many of the other RU-vid channels from TV. I just got off the phone from scheduling our 7-day Lifestyle Preview. Sara walked me through the steps pretty much the same way you experienced. . It's in April. In Atwood area. Thank you for all you do. We'll keep watching. Brian and Debbie.
I know from here I approve each comment. If it sounds like a grumpy old jerk that does not live here I delete it. Otherwise known as trolls in RU-vid land. They have nothing better to do. I'm sure that TV has much better things to do. I try and answer each note because I'm doing this to try and give people an idea of what the place is like as I find out. But I can see why they don't do it from the hill I'm sitting on. Subscribe Button: bit.ly/3aToJ3H
Pick up a “Recreation and Park News” at any rec center to have a paper copy of the weekly activities schedule. I’d also start a list of questions. You may want to do a vid of those in order to get some advance information from those who live here.
You said, "Used to fly for the AF?" I flew Hogs and retired from the AF in "06 now a GS in Korea. I'll retire in 2 years for good. Hope I see you down there. Thanks for the video...
U-2s for a little while before 52s and 38's while with recon and 37's a co-pilot. Definitely fun times. would go back in a second. Korea was an experience for sure. Thanks for stopping in. Subscribe button: bit.ly/3orJrgp
I feel like she asked you some personal questions (like about your previous work and asking whether you’d keep your house or not). What was the purpose of the personal questions?
Not sure how much you can really see with most things running at half capacity or less down there. Still very excited for you. Can't wait to see the adventures.
I was wondering about that but I'm really going down to get the lay of the land so to speak and see what the newer areas look like and maybe see if I can figure out where the new square is going to go. Will try to get as much info as I can and pass it along. Thanks a bunch for stopping by. Rusty
Are you required to be retired, in order to live there? I just turned 51 and plan to move there at age 55. I plan to still work thru age 62, but want to experience this lifestyle before and once I retire.
HI and thanks for dropping in. No, you do not have to be retired. Many people that I met still are working. The fact is I believe there are a certain amount of people that move in under 55 each year. I think it is held to 20% under 55. I did meet somebody that moved in at 45 and she was the one that convinced me to check it out. I would just check with the agent you are working with at the time. Interesting that she asks you if you're going to sell your place in Penn. They must get referral fees...:-) Always workin' it. Ha-ha. Realtor mentality.
I was thinking that they ask that about selling the prior home to determine if you are planning to be a snowbird. Maybe some Village homes are more suitable for that arrangement, or there are some restrictions for what you can and can’t do with the village home when you are away more than half the time.
