My favourite way to cook trout is filled with chopped onion and capsicum (red bell pepper), prinkle inside with a little salt and wrapped in bacon. Foil wrap and bake on campfire. That was introduced to dad and myself, by president of our local flyfishing association.

I love watching Jacoby fish he doesn’t get up set or discouraged he just keeps on fishing:) We use lemon juice and lemon pepper on our trout and it is delicious:) I think all fish taste better on a campfire:) tfs:)

I grew up fishing for trout in the mountains in NM. Never ever did we cut off the tails or heads. Always cooked them in a cast iron skillet (back in the old days with crisco) after coating them in a cornmeal & flour mixture , never made section cuts before cooking. After cooking use a sharp knife under the skin at the tail & the whole skin will peel off, take hold of the spine at the tail end and lift it off and it will come off intact. (We learned young) Flip it over and remove the skin, squeeze fresh lemon juice over meat and lightly salt and pepper. My dad also liked to mix a small amount of mayo with lemon juice. Yes, as others have said, there is good meat in the heads. We only used, fish eggs, worms and canned corn as bait. Love all your videos but the fishing ones bring back great memories.

I have caught many trout in Red River, NM & Cimarron Canyon, NM. I used mostly Power Bait, but sometimes Salmon Eggs. I would catch & clean them, Mom would coat them in cornmeal & flour & Dad would fry them in an iron skillet. They were sooooo good! We went to Red River most of my life. 1st time, I was 6 months old. Many great memories. I haven’t been in several years & I sure do miss it.

, Yes lots of salmon eggs! Most of my early fishing was either in The Jemez and Chama. We also had family in the Rocky Mountain National Park in CO so we got to do some great fishing there. In later years I learned how to fly fish which was great. As an adult my trout fishing was in CO but that ended when my dad could no longer go. Great memories!!

I’ve always wanted to try fly fishing ! There is a neat group of ladies that have vintage campers and they fly fish a lot. They are called Sisters on the Fly

Looked like a great time! I look foreword to your videos as soon as they are posted.. I do a lot of trout fishing mostly trout fishing when I cook them I leave them totally intact minus guts and gills obviously put each one in it’s own foil pack but put seasoning on the inside of the trout also with a couple pats of butter and put it on the grill absolutely perfect head comes right off and the skin scrapes right off fins and all and enjoy!?I put my fork at the backbone and then pull towards the belly gently meat slides right off the bones!

Hi Daniel, May I make a suggestion....small spinners...they work great and since the trout hit them on the run they don't usually swallow them. These work wonders up here. Otherwise, still loving these vids, so relaxing to watch. Happy New Year to all of your family and friends.

Happy New Year from a brother of the badge (retired). Great to see the latest fishing trip and you taking the time and effort to make sure Jacobi felt the thrill of that first trout catch. When my granddaughter was 6 or 7 took her trout fishing and did what you did for Colbi, and she was so excited to catch a fish.

Daniel when I clean my trout at Blue River I rate the guts out just like you did. Then I break the head over thee back. Then you can push the fish up through the skin and have a skinned trout. Then I put it on a cast iron skillet with olive oil. I season it with Cavenders Greek seasoning. Very good. Enjoy watching the boys in your videos.

You can skin them and roll them in cornmeal with a little salt and pepper and fry them in a skillet. They are easy to skin and no tools needed other than a knife.

Trout is the best fish there is when cooked fresh. Not the same after being in the freezer. Bread it get some fish rub and a bit of butter. Wrap in foil and put it on the fire.or pan fry it breaded

I told Gary Walker from Walker farm family, about you having 3 female Alpaca and your male can't perform anymore. Gary and Cassie have 2 male Alpaca, one white and one black. He said that you could use his males for breeding, there is no problem, just contact them.
