I have a 2005 Evo. It has been an absolute joy to own. This guys buys an Evo and complains about flimsy doors. He has no idea what the Evo is. All of the body components are light weight including the doors. The roof is paper thin to reduce weight. The car was built to go fast. That’s it!! It wasn’t built for comfort. This video is pointless but to each his own. Someone else would love to get their hands on that car. Please sell it and get a watered down newer car.
EVO’s are trash. Low quality just to lose a bit of weight. The 4 cylinder turbo engine sounds awful. The interior sucks and the exterior just looks silly. Why not get something good like an E46 M3?
1. It's a collectors car now. And growing in value. Hence why it's value is shooting up. 2. You don't buy an Evo because you want a luxury car. It's a Lancer with a $20k drivetrain in it. You buy it to USE it. Track it! It's a DRIVERS car! 3. Gas tank size. Jesus Christ. What a trivial thing to whine about. 4. I actually agree with this. Try building one from a shell. Sadly far too many parts getting discontinued. Important parts as well. 5. Any car junkie will modify any car they own. Thats not a reason to NOT buy an Evo specifically. So let's recap. They are valuable, they arent luxury cars, they have an average sized gas tank, discontinued parts, and you'll want to modify it..... ooook. Then sell it. Let someone who will appreciate it, buy it.
1) A lot of cars from the early 2000 era had not the greatest paint. Corvettes, Camaro, Mustangs, WRX, etc. all had similar issues with paint quality. Looks the Evo you bought the person never took care of the paint at all (clear peeling) but you still bought it anyway and complained about it. So if I don't wash or wax a car for 20 years and the clear peels, that is the manufacturers fault? 2) The flimsiness you are talking about is because the entire body is made from aluminum. Its a sports car, not a luxury car so it is built to be light. If your buying a car to impress your lady friends, your a fuck boy, go buy BMW frat bro. 3) The gas tank is small because its a sports car and they are thinking of weight. Also, your Celica gets 500 miles to a tank because it makes exactly 75hp. So, don't know if you know this or not but you need this stuff called fuel to make horsepower. 4) You bought a car that was so poorly taken care of that there is holes in the carpet. Lol 5) Heavily modded Evo's are not worth more then close to factory versions. Everything you said you were going to do will jack shit for your retail value. 6) Stop spending money on it because you have no idea what you are doing and sell it to a real enthusiast. Today.
Evo 8 owner here. All of the cons in this video are pros for me except the discontinued parts and gas tank points which aren't really a concern for me considering I don't beat on my car and there is a pretty good aftermarket on the essentials. Besides all that, its a performance car. Rally inspired race car. Made to be light weight and rip any surface its on. They're still gorgeous, fast, dependable, and legendary. Best 4 banger next to the K series. Value is going up.
hey im 20 and on buying one for 50k decent amounts of mods with 82k mileage been doing a bit of research lately but im not 100% sure to stick to this car mainly wanted it to daily drive and appreciate it hopefully build another motor for it later on
This is how the car is made mainly for performance, and I thought you supposed to get some research done before making a decision. I have owned my IX MR for 7 years and never had any issue. Take care of it and it will last for a long time. And the price you got for the car was very cheap
So true. I no longer have mine but owned a 9 MR for over ten years. It was the most reliable and enjoyable car I've ever owned. My only complaint about the car was the very common issue of the acd pump going out and Mitsubishi not doing anything to cover it. I'm sure with your many years of ownership you probably know what I'm talking about.
Bro, i am from switzerland. I bought an evo 9 in 2020 for 30000 sfr. at 130000km on it. Now i could sell it with 160000km for almost 50000!😂 The prices have exploded😮
How many guys that bought a Supra years ago for $20K r now complaining about the price they initially paid? Not many I bet. It’s an investment and a performance car. Just sell it and by a European car as that seems to be the cat that will suit u and your girl better. Just don’t complaint when all you see is EVO tail lights 😂
I think you made very valid points. Most pertain to someone who is expecting this car to do everything, i.e. daily driver/impress people. I don't think most people buy this car anymore to be a daily driver/do everything well. Paint is without a doubt horrible. Honda had the same issue with the 2006-2011 Civics. Doors being light and thin. 100% true.
I had to stop watching at "hunko junko" 😂 Ive owned hundreds of cars over my lifetime and the ix is the one I love the most, hands down. This guy just doesnt get it.
After being in this platform for so long, it’s sad to see these cars fall into owners like this guy. The only valid point you made was about discontinued parts but that’s a given with an old car. You are paying for the engine, drivetrain and the history. It’s literally a road legal rally car that can do most types of racing you can imagine. It’s one of two models of cars to start this.. And here’s this guy complaining about the size of the gas tank. Sell this and get your FRS.
Such a shame that mitsubishi decided to end production of these beauties. If mitsubishi decided to work and improve on the evo brand and vehicles. They would sell like the Mc.Ribs.
for an evo 9, you're looking at 40k+ now, especially if its got under 70k miles. I wanted to get an evo 9 again, but NOPE the interest on the loan was stupid... so I ended up getting evo x gsr.
The GSR is better but if you want light weight street type the RS is an option. They were also cheap for it's time but you are now looking at a car that is not made anymore so of course it's more expensive than it use to be. You can also tell if it's the SE by the lip etc just by looking, it is not the SE. I regret selling mine.
I guess its an issue in America? cuz here in Malaysia my evo 9 gsr has amazing build quality. No tin empty metal sounding doors, no issue with anything related to the build at all. Like its an amazing car to drive around. It is a little hard to find parts but at least here in Malaysia we have alot of importers to bring in OEM parts. So that isn’t really an issue here.
SE is a 5 speed… MR is a 6 speed. Paint issue… True. My ‘06 Acura RSX paint seems to hold up much better. Also a girl doesn’t like an Evo… She ain’t the one lol.
The FQ has aluminium roof, hood and fenders for the sane reason paint is thin.. To save weight. The tanks are small because huge amounts of fuel weighs a lot. The car is designed to be light and fast, sounds like you want a Mercedes
👀🤔 bro I don't think you understand what type of car you bought it's a goddamn rally car for the streets.🤣😅 next time bro do your research before you buy one. I have an Evo 9 mr with 412hp best car ever
wife doesn't like it, medium sized gas tank, and ripped his carpet. Hehehe what an absolute derp case. Go buy your used Corvette then🤣 honestly, learn about the car before spewing misinformation. The positives simply outweigh all of your whining. Also I daily my 06 Mr at 7 psi so don't say it won't ever happen lol
The only thing I don’t like about the evo 9s is the interior. It does look and feel cheap. But outside of that that car is a blast to drive and I don’t care what people say it looks good.
It's not expensive, you can not *afford it if you are talking about price/value... Anyone buying evo would know prices, won't care if their gf s disagree, flimsy doors etc would not bother them, gas tank is just good enough, this isn't a truck, finding a replacement parts can be hard that's true. Money pit can be said for any car as long as you are modifying it aesthetics and engine
Bro, the MR is a damn street racecar!! You're paying for just that. Not luxury. I hate talking negative about videos, but this is just a wasteless rant
Who ever told you the Mr is the most sought after lied to you. It the Evo 9 SE with the five speed that's rare. plus I think you over spent on that Evo. I payed 17.5k for my Evo 9 with 76k miles picked it up last month.
@@jhonreydelacruz6945 it's nice for sure to have a 5 speed. The 6 speed thou I have driven once and it so nice of a feel. Don't worry dude just save some money and get it rebuilt
Haven’t heard you complain or mention the notorious paint fade on the brembo calipers. Had my EVO IX also in red as well, repainted by the Mitsubishi Dealer under warranty. That’s another fix with these unicorns lol
Tbf Singapore is the only country in the world with public transport so readily accessible that cars are not needed for the average person. (How it should be)
If a girl doesn't like a evo she ain't the one lmaooo. Also like already stated, seemed like you know about all these things before buying but bought it anyways to complain? idk, congrats on the evo tho lol.
@@josephphengsy2376 the 6 speed is a heaps better box unless your building a ridiculous evo then you might aswell get a sequential I know of people in aus with 390kw atw with the stock 6 speed that absolutely smash their gears and they’re fine america either got shafted or your all just copying and pasting what the last bloke said
Dude you got ripped off plain & simple. No body with half a brain would pay 20k plus for a car in that condition. Maybe learn a bit more about buying used cars before you get ripped off again.
