Great video brother I just purchased this 40amp 14-50 ac lite in white for my EV can’t wait to install it! Also why did you choose to go to 32amp rather than 40 amp in your case?
My wiring is sized to 40 amps and my bolt can only receive 32, so it really doesn’t impact me negatively at all. It is a pretty great charger, especially for the price!
Our biggest energy usage is between 5pm and 11pm (Stove, Microwave, AC and Dryer). Is it possible to setup a routine/program (scheduled charging) so that from 5pm to 11pm the charger output would be 15 A, then from 11pm to 7am the charger would be set at 32 A? Not interested in running this charger during the peak daytime period. This would have to be automatic once setup, so that all would happen automatically when the car is plugged in. Thanks...BTW, nice tear down of the unit.
I have the next model up of this charger which is just about the same. The only trouble I have had is the top level in the charging cord will break in the cooled ohio winters. Also some time when there is a power surge it takes a total reset to get the unit back into operation.
J1772 also specifies that the wall plug should not be longer than 300mm (1ft) so that double-length cable is technically non-standard. That said, I think it’s silly that the EVSE has to be so short on that end so I hope they revise the standard.
@@chargeeverywhere thanks for looking that up. I think I mixed it up with the 25 ft. length limit, which is measured differently for wall mount versus portable.
