I have seen many movies ….not only Indian but some foreign movies , and I really don’t get why male lead is not hold accountable for cheating. How can they portray ….like cheating is fine and husband is not wrong… wrong is only wife or other women. On the other hand ….your husband/ boyfriend is cheating … he is the one u love and he betrays you… how can you …not ..beat him to his pulp..and move on… Instead of asking ur boyfriend ..why he did that.. all of them goes to other women and pull their hairs… and he smartly get rid from these nonsense. Mistake is of male lead but writer smartly portrays that wife is not proper..or good looking.. I hope in upcoming years these types of serials and movies get vanished….because they have an impact …in our society .

Men are usually never held accountable for their wrongs. A woman making the tiniest of tiny mistakes is treated like the biggest crime. But a man cheating on his wife, no problem, just give him a redemption arc in the last one week of the serial and all is well ! It's a universal truth that men usually never have to face the consequences of their actions, neither in fiction nor reality .

And after the revelation, he was immediately forgiven by the female lead. Like he destroyed her life but it's ok. No accountability. Then few days later he again yells at her, mocks her for being an orphan and throws her out of the house. Again after the revelation, the female lead immediately forgives him. No accountability lol. Malini was such a beautiful character at one time, who was strong, independent self righteous and stood up for imlie whenever Aditya misbehaved with her, she never believed in the class divide between imli and her and treated her like a little sister even when she didn't know about that. And that's why the audience sympathised with her, because she was genuinely a great woman. But that didn't sit well with the makers because the leads weren't getting the love and respect. And then they ruined her, and ruined her character so badly that it's almost unbelievable. It just makes me so sad for Malini.
@hershey4394
@hershey4394 3 года назад
Finally.... someone got the idea I've been trying to tell. I remember the time when Malini left Aditya to make Imli happy and everyone accused her for being a cheater, her own family abandoned her for their so called "Izzat" and even the lead lovebirds Mr n Mrs Tripathi ignoring her feelings, stalling the divorce, she still stood tall and righteous and everyone loved her. Then the makers realized that the show is named *"IMLI"* so they did Malini dirty. Like how obsessed you can be with the lead of the show that you make her a Devi and every other woman a bi*ch!!!! And the siblings who knew Aditya Imli secret... it was clearly them who supported the couple but when Malini lied about KC they judged her character. The show is so messed up that I don't watch it anymore.... it's depressing how according to the showbiz a woman can't wish happiness for other woman (the heroine) and always have to be a vamp.

The same thing happened in the Bengali version. Moon (Malini) was one of the best woman character written for any daily soap, but later they just ruined that and made her the vamp. In the bengali version, Ishti Kutum, there were insane plot twists. The characters played by Malini and Imlie were later found out to be half sisters (Malini's father had impregnated Imlie's mother/extramarital), Imlie stayed happily ever after with Aditya and Malini fell in love with the doctor who treated her after she tried to commit suicide.

I’m glad someone actually went through the pain of watching this show. I have actually realised that most of the serials on Star Plus actually have a similar problem be it Anupama, or Ghum hai kisi k pyar mei, Pandya Store. Moreover, the lens and male gaze has always managed to show the one of the two women either interested or married to a fickle man as negative, wicked, sly, and the man somehow always becomes the least wrong. And this is just the tip of the icerberg when it comes to female portrayal on screen which tends to revolve around an ‘ideal’ women and the ‘other’ women.

But the show writers are hell bent on showing her as Adult. She acts and carry herself as Adult when it is clear she would be 15 at max as per the story so far. The whole story arc where she saves Aditya from terrorists was absurd and hilarious at the same. It is actually part of that genre: "It is so Bad that it is Good."

Thank you for saying it loud and clear..the two main leads are irritating to an absolute annoying extent...they are the main villains..they actually ruined Malini's life.. Aditya who was in a romantic relationship for 7 years suddenly claiming it a friendship!! This is simply ridiculous...after marrying Malini he fell in love with imlie.. it IS called EMA, isn't it??imlie knew everything but malini knew nothing...they purposely kept quiet and now they want each. Other..malni is not a toy..when Aditya wanted he kept and then threw her away..what to say about imlie!! Despite knowing Malini is aditya's love and they are going to marry even after that she refused to divorce aditya..she forgot she needs to study...from wanting to be an officer her priority becomes to be aditya's wife only! And finally when she succeeded to lure and woo Aditya she was happy that aditya now loves her..they both kept romancing behind Malini's back without any guilt and shame..the only victim here is malini...after marriage you can see Aditya never left a moment to get close to malini...this is so cheap of him..now he wants a girl half of his age.. bloody shameless jerk... Malini invested 7 years of her life ..7 years is not a joke dude!!! and what she got!! Betrayel!! And a tag of divorcee!! I don't get it how can people support these two cheaters!!aditya and imlie!?? I feel the most disappointing thing about Indian cinema is that you will never see a character development it stays the same if not deteriorates. Women presented as aspirational in the beginnings become just a housewife as the show progress and the main topic is always women tearing women down. Men are always presented as calm, sort out, loves their mother and always doubt their wives. Their is always a third wheel who loves the guy so much she goes as much as to kill the female lead. I remember feeling such an emotion during Balika Vadhu. While at first Gauri Jagya were hated for getting married (which was okay because both knew about his marriage to Anandi) but eventually Gauri was made into a hateful character and Jagya the bechara ladka. Finally Jagya realized his "mistake of how Gauri has ruined his life" On the other hand Anandi was the Goddess of colors tv. Always forgiving, no anger, just a sad but forgiving woman. The problem is how unrealistic women are shown in Indian TV shows. One is always the demon and other is Goddess Gosh why am I obsessed with Balika Vadhu 😂
@devikanarsinghani6881

But atleast in that shows there were tym and other charcters that showed both could be wrOng and after a point of tym anandi did became strong and stood against everything and jagya got to know that he was at fault and gauri cant be blamed for everything
@noonestark587
@noonestark587 3 года назад
@@devikanarsinghani6881 True, Jagya did realize that he and Gauri were wrong. But I remember there was a sequence where Gauri returned after few years as a patient to Jagaya and Ganga.. She tried to wreck their marriage .. Although she realized she was wrong but the writers always wrote her as someone who is greedy and manipulate... There was never any good quality shown about her.. The writers tried their best to show her as a selfish and lier.. Jagya had good as well as bad shades about him. But Gauri was shown as pure evil with very little redemption arc and Anandi turned strong and bold but she had absolutely no flaws. Gauri was the demon and Anandi was Goddess. But I still admire Balika Vadhu for trying something new and how brilliant it was made in initial days. Surekha Sikri, Anup Soni, Smita Bansal, Neha Marda, and even Avika and Pratyusha were at their best in the shows.. Even Anandi's mother was absolutely perfect.. Not many credit is given to her. I loved Sugan's character and how brilliantly Vibha portrayed her but she as a character was also almost useless in later part of show. Things were good in the first arc of the show however things turned a bit bad when Gauri was shown as a pure villain.. Gauri was initially introduced as a sensitive village girl who really wants to move on from her child marriage but she was later shown as a pure villain. Also show went absolutely crazy in Anandi Shiv married life phase. It was nothing but saans bahu show after their marriage.
@shanesunil
@shanesunil 3 года назад
I would still allow some slack to Balika Vadhu if it seemed regressive since the show was on TV more than a decade ago. But the concept "Child Marriage" was unique for a show in the late 2000's, so I'll give the show credit. Also I think it was nice that Anandi and Jagya moved on in their own lives after growing up and forgetting that they were once married during their childhood. But there is no need to have a sequel to Balika Vadhu now, in 2021.

This could've been an amazing show if it was processed with the right path at least which I expected at the beginning of the show. If the marriage was forceful and illegal 1. They could've just reported it. Could've got separated legally if required. Aditya could've married Malini after all this and lived happily (as he claimed several times that he loved Malini) and could've helped Imlie for her education financially and could've taken her responsibility until she became independent. And after all this too, if the creators wanted to expand the storyline, Imlie could fall in love with some other right guy at right time after a leap of some years and could educate the villagers about their orthodox mentality. 2. Malini could easily get legal help. (At first place she doesn't even have to bother about a person like Aditya) but if anyway she doesn't want to leave him, she could just get legal help as Aditya and Imlie's wedding was illegal (as claimed by both multiple times). There was no point of trying to make a character horrible. but yahan toh alag hi chal rha h. M pdhi likhi intelligent professor hu toh m toh chaalein chal k hi apna pati vapis lungi. Till now all Aditya does is change sides as per his convenience, he just can't pick a side. He doesn't trust imlie, doesn't love malini, wants to be with imlie and wants to be friends with malini too. His character is selfish and very arrogant.... I could literally go on and on about this show because this had me SO frustrated because nothing makes sense and the plot is DISGUSTING! characters are so UNDEFINED, they can change ANYTIME. The Bengali show had its problems, but still it connected with a lot of people because it was less about these three characters and more about the culture of the people of the tribal region of Junglemahal. The character of Satyakam, the Maoist extremist movement and the clash of Urban and rural, had some excellent potrayals. Infact, the main theme of Ishti Kutum was the Jungle Mahal and the culture and traditions of the people. Very late in its story did it divert into bullshit stories (like most serials do). And the charactrr of Malini was excellently potrayed- she was not a villain, she was independent woman with her own struggles. And Baha was not the character that they have shown in Imli - she became independent, strong woman in tbe end. Malini left Aditya after he confessed

My siblings and my parents love this show. They all always gather to watch this show 🤣 and also they recommend me to watch it 😑 as I don't like starplus shows whenever I go to change the channel during their show timing I have to hear their curses from them.

I remember my grandmother actually used to watch the bengali serial called Ishti Kutum. And I feel like a huge mass of people were attracted to the show because the female protagonist actually was an impeccable actress and her character came from I guess some tribal part of bengal and the actress had mastered the accent and dialect. Growing up, when the show was running, I had heard a lot of people talk about how they watched the show solely because of the actress. But this is solely based on my personal speculations though.

An educated, passionate and independent woman is cunning, jealous and so on, when she doesn't even need the man because she's self sufficient. On the other hand if she is a 'gharelu' woman, educated enough to boast to others but not the one to stand up for herself, then you are the main protagonist.

True !! All the TV shows on air on Star Plus in 2020-21 have the same story !! Two ladies and one man Imli, Ghkpm , Anupama, or either the main Heroine suddenly dies and out of nowhere her lookalike comes there (Yrkkh) Most important the age gaps that are shown makes it more creepies Aditya (32)and Imlie (19) , Sai (19) Virat (30’s) Kartik(35) Sirat (25) All those shows are Horrible
