I love how good natured you are! So many would have been irritated at others crossing their line. It’s refreshing to see people being kind to each other. Thanks for your example.
Great video and a fun fish to catch. You should do a catch clean and cook on one just to see for yourself. I’ve only known a few that have ate them Chris Sherrill cooked one on video one time.
Cmon man I disagree me and my sons go fishing all the time the most annoying thing is when people are not catching fish and move closer and closer to you then throw across all 3 of your lines at the same time Then it happens over and over again. Just because you move closer to me doesn’t mean you are going to catch fish
Super-size bull Jacks! Way to play! You handled the fish and tanglers really well; You are a reel gentleman. @10:56 rod/reel on the sand. Here's a simple easy tip, always put your reel handle-side down which keeps the rotor and bail elevated off the ground. Enjoyed the video.
Great job! You schooled the school! Very good patience you showed when tangled up with the other folks. Great sportsmanship. Enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing!
We were down in Perdido Key last week. Stopped in at the store and picked up some Bummy Rigs, some shirts, and some toys for the kiddos. The store looks great, the shirts are some of the most comfortable ones I own, and the kids loved the toys. The Bummy Rigs caught a meal of whiting. They also hold up really well to small sharks. Caught 5 on the same rig. Keep it up, Matt. Love the content. Gonna swing back by in September.
I haven't fished saltwater in years but I love your videos. I fish cold streams and rivers for trout with tenkara and ultralight spin gear. It's a blast watching you take big fish out of the surf. You got a nice family too
Hi Matt I have caught jack crevalle in the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico they are a very fun fish to catch just found out this year we can catch them on the south east beaches of NC hope to find out for myself very soon
Jack crevalle are sleepers. They will run you down the beach iff you dont want to get spooled. When you think you have got them in, they make another run. My absolute favorite fish to catch surf fishing.
I’ve caught a good number of jack crevalle in mainland Mexico and Baja. Mostly on poppers. They’re just brutes. They’ll wear you out on medium tackle. I’ve caught them in Florida too. The pacific jacks are a little darker color, green with darker strips. But in every other way they’re the same fish.
Dang you really gonna leave us on a cliffhanger like that?? Excited to see what you caught! Love seeing the big jacks. On my bucket kist to caych a big one!
Matt… advice I would give a newbie in Hatteras is to “keep up with your fish - stay perpendicular to the fish as he runs - AND keep your toes in the water.’ Nice Jack!!
Or just don't put it in the sand to begin with. 2 things I don't throw on the ground.... my rods or my guns. Always good to have a backpack on the beach you can always throw that rod in your pack and keep it off the ground.
love the channel- coming down to Perdido Key last week of July....just retired and am loving fishing...was there the month of March and caught many types of fish for the first time...do you have beach charters ....you or bearded brad?/.....Looking to learn and get better at beach and pier fishing
When you first hooked him and he started to run, I saw your left hand go up on the rod and the rod twisted a tad, where you checking the reel to reel seat nut?
Oh hell no! Your way more patient than than I'd of been with that fiasco Matt, I'd of been pissed if they crossed my line, especially when I had a Jack on there
I was in Gulf Shores all last week and all I caught was hard tails pin fish, and a catfish I went to the pier saw bearded Brad they were targeting Jack’s as soon as they left two schools came through when he came back I told him about it he was like oh crap and all of a sudden the first day that I’m home from vacation you’re out catching Jacks from the beach!! Dang!!
I’m curious, how close is too close when approaching someone’s spot? Being inexperienced at surf fishin, I don’t want to cast into another’s established spot
I had a dream last night that I hooked into a jack on topwater and Hulk Hogan strolled up and helped me land him.. 🤷🏻♂️ 😂 Thanks for teaching us North AL river rats the way of the coast!!
Tell us the months your catching these surf fish in. Be there in Feb and March. Looking forward to visiting your store and catching some fish in the surf.
Np man! I’m coming to check out the shop after work sometime, I’m right across 59 at the airport. Does google have your business hours of operation already set up?
Too bad it wasn't a good eating fish... but I get the thrill of landing a nice fish, caught the biggest specs I have in my life several years ago off the beach with a rattle trap before dawn, right from gs al.
