I think the "I don't usually do this in the daylight with your kids right there" lyric is about smoking out in public or dealing. The entire first part is definitely about blowing all your money on drugs. "Mary so good gonna need ear plugs"

@Eve of Midnight: I completely agree that "I don't usually do this in the daylight with your kids right there" could imply either doing drugs or going for a gun. Still, I think the other are right it has to do with drugs though. The entire second verse seems to be about being confronted with something. In that context, "I don't usually do this in the daylight with your kids right there" seems more to be about the subject of the confrontation (the drug use mentioned in the previous verse) than the actual confrontation.

I will say however this track was just flat out fucking boring...with that said, I didn't cringe once while listening, so there's a plus! Glad to have the band back, even without Nabil- who from what I remember did not do much of the musical writing.

+Lucas Jenkins Nabil was the main writer. Check out his solo project As the Plot Thickens. As far as I know, he wrote all the instrumentals to YCSSWL: drums, guitar, bass, keyboards. He also did a fair bit of the vocals.

I recall it being the opposite more towards when he left.

Lucas Jenkins I'm pretty sure Nabil wrote all the guitar parts and programmed the drums, but Matt wrote all the vocals and most of the synth parts.

Ah okay, I just remember the interviews way back, and I think it was the case of Nabil not wanting to do it anymore, so he left.

If you mean that ISMFOF started out with two really talented dudes and then pushed out some really weird techno music and then acquired a whole new group of people minus the vocalist by "they always been together", then you're right.

Justin, they only toured once recently. They had taken a break cause it was only Matt. He recently found a full-band. Trust me. I saw 'em live and they told me the story.

Spencer, ISMFOF was originally 2 guys until live shows. Then the band kind of died off after the 2nd album, but Matt wanted to revive ISMFOF. They are back and better than ever.

Also Nabil was very toxic to work with so don't talk about things when you don't know.

I do remember that but I found I Set My Friends On Fire through my own volition, not through Smosh. In fact I was never really a big fan of Smosh to begin with.

chris wasn't original member and yes nabil did quit but matt put the new line up together in order to keep ismfof alive. he wanted to go back to the roots. nate pretty much took nabils place. the only two people from the band listed for writing this song are matt and nate. if anything i think traditional ismfof is more there now than it was for astral rejection.

The band has changed for the better this time around in my opinion. When Astral Rejection was released it did not do well and for understandable reasons. I don't even blame that album on Matt neither. The producers that worked on it with Epitaph Records really watered down what it could of been. The only well produced songs on that album were "It Comes Naturally", "Astral Rejection", and "Excite Dyke". The rest of the songs were garbage. The instrumentals were terrible quality and drowned out Matt's vocals. The only way I understood the songs if I read the lyrics and even then the songs were hard to follow along to. If you hear the original Astral Rejection which is available on RU-vid the songs were FAR better quality and well done! That being said it really fucked over ISMFOF because of the bad quality of the second album and how rushed it was. It was suppossed to be released summer of 2010 but instead released summer of 2011. So people stopped careing and Epitaph were forced to drop Matt leaving him to fend for himself. 2012 Matt announced he would go solo and release the next album himself still having the passion to write music, unfortunately a one man army cannot produce an album as good and get it released quick enough. Matt had to learn to produce music himself not having experience resulting in delays upon delays releasing "Caterpillar Sex". We all know to this day it was never fully released, just demos and badly produced music. Mind you I'm not defending "Caterpillar Sex". The artistic direction he took was too out of this worl and not good at all. Flash forward to modern day ISMFOF. He discovered Nate Blasdell at the end of 2015 and got the band rolling again finding Johnny, Chris, and Connor. Although Johnny recently left as well as Connor (at least from recent tweets between Nate and Connor). Matt, Nate, and Chris are a dedicated talented trio sticking by the band and trying to give back the fans what they want. On the release of "My Uzi..." ISMFOF wrote on their official Facebook they were not only writing a 3rd album (Caterpillar Sex) but a fourth as well (first single; "My Uzi"). They said they are going back to old roots similar to Slaughter. So don't worry, old ISMFOF is coming back. Give Nate and Chris a chance. They are VERY serious about this band!
