as someone who worked for both a moving company and a furniture company for a good while each: you are 100% correct on most of this but as far as the piano and the boxes not being moved it sounds like mostly just a case of bad communication. at least with my old company, if a piano or a safe or something was involved in the job it was the client's job to tell us about that since there's an extra fee and we'd have to prepare accordingly and if we got there and didn't expect it we could straight up refuse service. as far as boxes go, our customers were supposed to label them all accordingly and direct us to whichever spots the corresponding labels were supposed to go on our initial walkthrough of the new place. but you are extremely right about the best types of movers and the whole having leverage over a company with good reviews thing lmao my old company would practically buy you a new house if we fucked up too bad

I used to work at delivering white wares, you know washers, fridges and stuff like that and it's backbreaking work for sure. Well, in my case it was leg breaking since it messed up my legs so badly I could hardly walk for a while. But damn, I got strong and pretty fit.

As someone who works at a Best Buy warehouse: He's correct that we do not have any trucks of our own. The entirety of our shipping (except for geek squad) is handled through outside transportation companies which vary from location to location. I will say that if they gave him an estimated delivery date ON THE SPOT then it was likely a guesstimate on their part since as far as I know, the only way to get an ETA for delivery is by going into an already-created order and attempting to schedule it. If the ETA for delivery was over 3 weeks out, the problem was likely that the system was trying to order a brand new TV from the vendor since the warehouse didn't have any (which is pretty unusual but not unheard of). The unit he was trying to pick up could have likely been shipped to the warehouse for delivery sooner but that would require his existing order to already be canceled for at least an hour or two before placing the new order otherwise the system would still assume the unit was taken (for his existing order) and thus not valid to be shipped to the warehouse for delivery.

I've got a small contracting company for residential and commercial moving and hearing about the whole moving arc is so freaking entertaining.

Yesterday I got obliterated by a level 3 panther with salt. I had another unit that maxed out so I moved my lynx up front to get monkey buffs. The panther had 36 attack and did 180 damage to the lynx. I wasn't even mad, it was hilarious.

Pro tip: If you put a sticker with a room name on top of each box and tape a piece of paper to each room door, ie Bedroom 1, Bathroom 1 then you just tell them the boxes and rooms are all labelled. Gives them no choice

This better not be a hot take, but you're the asshole for not telling the moving company you have a literal piano to move. They literally have equipment (a piano board) specifically for moving them, and they don't always bring that shit if you don't tell them up front.
