a group of college age meddling kids in a van meeting a cult in the rural side of the country sounds like the most trope-like start to an actual horror movie amazing
It was a really good instinct to stay together- most cults will separate new recruits so that each recruit is surrounded only by cult members- it makes them less questioning and allows the cult to keep an eye on any trouble makers (people will free will).

There's actually some subtler of cult tactics you can see here: they split you all up to isolate you, and they make you do work so you feel invested in the cult (because our brains think if we spend a lot of time on something it must've been worth it)
Good spotting, there’s also some other techniques like requesting they stay off their phones as much as possible so that you get absorbed in the cult without getting any outside information. Cults also make you call ahead before you arrive so they can team up and prepare for the insulation. There’s a lot of thought stopping and positive reinforcement going on here as well
“A place where everyone loves you is called a cult” Thats what my friend’s psychologist told her when she was considering joining a potential cult lmao
Most people would probably reject their religious fanaticism very quickly. Their victims are usually people who are at a low point in life. That's why they are so nice and friendly. They are looking for people who are desperate for help. That's when they pull you into their cult, with the promise of a caring community.
@@Junakase cults exist in many forms. Some of them aren't even religious or spiritual in nature. This kind of thinking that you are foolproof to cults as long as your life is going well is what loops people into one.
3:12 That voice that the lady is speaking in is what me and my friends call the ‘cult voice’. My friend grew up Mormon and she said she was trained to speak like that to sound mote docile and harmless. It’s disgusting.
That’s not true. Nobody’s trained to speak like anything in Mormon culture. Nobody I know is trained to speak anyway. You’re disgusting. It’s literally just a religion. We’re not hurting anyone. Anyone’s just trying to find any reason to hate and fear any religion at this point especially the Christians.
Especially as it is usually female cultists who are conditioned and encouraged to speak that way. To sound 'childlike' and 'obedient', this kinda stuff gives me the creeps honestly

@@celesteessel4500 I think for cults specifically its called love bombing sometimes when they show you a lot of affection at once. What was your cult like? I honestly am Christian and I do believe in the things those people are talking about other than the fact that they are not the 12 disciples of Christ
@@JesusLightsYourPath I’m a follower of Jesus Christ as well, I think what makes it a cult is the manipulation, control, guilt tripping, and twisting of the Truth. 13:28 despite how silly this exchange between these guys is, Zahra saying that she liked them and they were nice is actually kind of scary. That's exactly how they get you. That's exactly how cultists get you to join their cult. They're hospitable and kind to make it seem like they're your friends, like they're someone you can trust. You can't. Once you trust them, you're likely to join them. Had she stayed longer I fear she may have started to get really brainwashed.
Having been in a very very long ab-sive relationship (which is the same font as a cult tbh) can confirm that this gambling-like “this isn’t threatening, I can leave any time” mentality is exactly how many people get sucked into it. Was sad to watch and definitely rammed home the point
@@christianboi7690 yep. cults are just new religious movements. theyre not inherently bad, but they have a bad reputation because the only cults that make it into the news are the violent ones. they use similar tactics as the older major religions.
It always blows my mind at how incredibly easy it is to be brainwashed to join a cult. Like, everyone thinks they're immune, but the process doesn't start out crazy. They ease you in and get you comfortable before taking away everything you have of yourself. I'm glad you guys made it out safely.

OMG I was approached by them yesterday! They run a cute little shop with organic food here in Prague, and I went to check it out with a friend. We were immediately approached, they made a tea for us, gave us delicious cookies, and also gave us some free stuff. We have one of these Yellow Deli communities in my home of Manitou Springs Colorado. Some interseting things about it; -they target at risk youths, particularly those who are homeless and women -every aspect of these peoples lives is decided by a "council of elders" who none of them apparently know the identities of. These elders arrange marriages, split couples to be re-married, and shuffle members around to all of their various locations. Many are moved every couple of months, to some locations as far as Alaska to fish salmon. -there is apparently rampant inbreeding within their colonies, and many of the people who ive seen working at my local location have birth defects/mental disabilities.

It's insane seeing them literally follow the formula for cult recruitment. One of the subtle indoctrination I think some people missed is the uncomfortable bed. Anthpo’s group woke up early, worked rigorously in the restaurant, and then go to the meetings. All of which would make them already pretty tired and susceptible to the indoctrination. The uncomfortable bed is just one of the ingredients of this creepy pie. Being tired made it easier to love bomb It’s genuinely creepy to see at all the subtle techniques they employed to try to indoctrinate Antpo’s friends
@@emerald442 it isnt the bed so much as it is sleep deprivation. LAck of sleep makes people turn off their "thinkers" so to speak. havinbg an uncomfortable bed just aids in that process of never getting a good nights sleep.
Requiring a full day of working at the deli - manual labor, repetitive activity, unfamiliar rules, unpredictable environment, loss of control - is the perfect way for a cult to physically and psychologically wear down a potential new initiate for the meeting and invitation ahead at the headquarters.
Zhara is the perfect example of why, just knowing something is a cult doesn’t perfectly prepare you to not be indoctrinated. I feel like knowing the techniques they use is also super important. Also, if anyone’s wondering the technique they were using on them is called love bombing, they essentially act like the nicest people ever while making you feel like the most important person ever and once they are able to convince you to join, they start threatening to take that love away from you as a deterrent to not leave, and usually at that point, you’ve given up so much of your stuff and destroyed so many relationships of yours that you have nowhere else to go, but the cult. And yes, I know this all sounds really obvious but remember cults always target people who are going through rough times in their lives, or people who feel lost and want somewhere to belong.
@@dianenguyenn I never said they looked for mentally unstable people I said they look for people going through a rough time. Generally people at a low point in their life looking for anything, and anyone to give them validation that’s generally the main target for Cults.

We made a group chat and hung out about once a month, where every time they'd practice a presentation for me in English and I would help them. I knew they were very religious but I still wanted to be friends with them, so I just pushed aside their 15 minutes of presentation and enjoyed the hours we spent together as friends. One day, we went out to lunch and then they asked me if I'd want to go with them to their church since it was nearby... I didn't know that they were in a cult, I thought they were just religious and wanted to practice English. I was naive and said sure, but then I couldn't get out for 3 hours. They forced me to keep watching these videos about "God the Mother" and kept trying to get me to go upstairs so I could get baptized. After 3 hours of convincing, I was able to leave after I said I'd come join them for their Sunday service that weekend. After I got on the bus, I texted my Korean boyfriend the name of the church and he IMMEDIATELY called me and scolded me. Apparently it's a very well known cult in Korea and there have been people who have gotten kidnapped and held for ransom. They especially prey on foreigners because we don't know any better and usually have no friends or family here which makes us extra vulnerable. It's easy to say that you'd never join a cult or be forced into it, but these people are very nice and have a way with their words. It still makes me sad to think about my two friends who are in that cult and who have given up everything to them. They live in apartments provided by the church and work for the church, their whole life is encompassed by this cult. The name is 하나님의교회 (Church of God) for anyone who's interested. Lots of people in this cult have also "sacrificed themselves". There's lot of documentaries online if you're interested!
oh my god i live in the Philippines and was approached by two girls as i got off the bus. they also preached about god the mother and made me take a quiz (?). after that they asked me where i study and told me there are many students in my uni who are also part of their religion ?? or group ??? they won't let me go unless i kind of affirm them that i am interested. after that, they asked for my contact number and told me they will contact me immediately. good thing i gave a fake number and a fake name because it was so creepy.
@@stacey4167 yeahhh I had no idea that this cult was spread outside of Korea until they made me watch videos about their "religion" and it was basically talking about how they have churches in every country imaginable. Thousands of foreigners come to Korea each year to get a chance to meet "god the mother" who is an OLD KOREAN LADY? They genuinely believe she is god! After seeing that vid I noped tf outta there lol
@@sunheeheesun7050 they did the same to me since I was studying at a nearby uni but since I was very lonely and they seemed kind and I could practice sign language with them, I actually gave them my real name and phone number... Thank God I never invited them over to my place☠️
I truly hope the children who were literally forced to join the cult by their parents are going to be able to make it out safely as soon as possible because just hearing you talk about how you heard whipping noises as well as children crying and screaming was simply heartbreaking.
The odds are he's probably gonna get abused in every ways you can imagine until they either all end themselves or the FBI is able to arrest the right people.
@@40watt53 yeah punishing your children so they dont grow up to be psychos who think they can get away with anything with no consequences is the same as slavery. you know in my comment i was going to make an analogy about calling everyone right of Stalin a nazi making that word loose all meaning in todays society but thought better of it because i assumed people would be level headed enough not to need such extreem comparisons. but i guess i was wrong.
Hey. This video hit me extremely personally and I’m so thankful to see it. I’ve been raised in this religion. My parents are the most kind loving hearted people I know, but this is what they believe. I had no idea I was raised in a cult until I saw this. I needed the taste of an outside perspective. This felt so confirming to see because I’ve never believed in it myself and it’s so good to see other people thinking they’re crazy other than just me.
they have one in my town here in brazil, and their food is soooo good, the first time i went i didn’t know who they were but they had such cult vibes, so i read their newsletter and yeah… like they all looked the same, hair clothes, etc (even their kids). our server looked soo high, it’s crazy but we cant stop going bc of the amazing food😅
Ok the food is really good but please think about what your supporting (I.e child abuse) if you eat there. There are thousands of other restaurants with better morals and just as good or even better food
@@notmyname-6236 well i would love to do that but its like what i said ,they're either too scared or they're glued to their phones. i always nag them but then they push me away and say that im being irritating i dont think they're really my friends anymore ngl
@@claireeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Hey, I'm so sorry to hear that. You don't deserve being treated like that... No one does. But I believe there's someone for everyone and you'll find your people eventually. And don't let such words get to you. You are not irritating! (some people are just too easily irritated) Take care :)
I know, this was really scary lol. I couldn't believe someone did this for RU-vid at first...but then again people have done even more dangerous things for content, so I don't know why I was surprised. Glad that they made it out safely. I wonder what might have happened if their camera was discovered.
There's is something deeply disturbing about how the cult so obviously is aware that Anthpo and his crew keep visiting yellow delis, and so in response the 12 Tribes members keep upping the ante in the accommodations they are offered. First a good meal, then a good meal but they are invited to come back that evening for dinner and Bible discussion, then they are invited to stay the night at a location, on the conditions that they help out around the business (which would immerse them in the cults followers.) It's super calculated, and deeply sinister to watch.
i dunno I did all that with my kids just for fun in 12 Tribes. I went to the deli and then went to the farm to swim and then worked in there deli. Im excommunicated thought
@@jadenbryant9283 hes trying to make it seem like this is a big deal. I went with my son undercover always knew theybwere a cult. I was kidnapped and abused as a child and sent to a troubled teen program. Dr Phil did a show with some of my friends who had been at similar places. Afterwards I went to his FB (which I'm ban from) and someone said it sounded like 12 Tribes. I went back into activist mode and was gon a take down TT. I went with my 8 month old. No I never left him with any1 in the community
Gotta add here. A cult is essentially just an unofficially religious group. in case no one believes me: cult /kʌlt/ noun 1. a system of religious veneration and devotion directed towards a particular figure or object. "the cult of St Olaf" 2. a person or thing that is popular or fashionable among a particular group or section of society. "the series has become a bit of a cult in the UK" Direct copy paste from the google oxford languages dictionary.
The sad thing is,if they want to leave, they have nothing. They leave with nothing but a sense that they ruined years of their life, it’s why people don’t leave cults because they can’t admit to themselves that they’ve wasted so much of their life, money and time
The bit about making them basically give up all material possessions is such a red flag, they really want to make these people feel like they have nowhere else to go
