That final jam was the best I have heard you play. Congratulations to you for the decision (I know how hard it is to let go of stuff) and for the new axe. Have fun!
Hard to make a bad choice between the two. The sound from 7:50 on is hard to argue with! Tyler, you’re a refreshment to the guitar community. Definitely a “win”.
I sold my old learners clarinet from high school and one shop didn't want it then recommended another place and said they might give me 35 40 bucks. I went and browsed while they checked it out and left with almost $90. Was very surprised.
Haha! Nice one! GameStop has the absolute worst trade-in deals and return policy. I’ll only go there if they’re the only place I can find what I’m looking for. And you wonder why their stock got so highly priced? They basically steal all their used gear.
If GC offered $2700 in trade, they got at least 6k in pedals from him. Definitely the right move tho. That Suhr is one of the most incredible models of guitar on this planet….
@@definitelynotgore you're lucky to get 50%. Used value $10 to $30k, doesn't mater 50% of the lowest price they can find. It is what it is, just know what to expect.
@@landonferguson4632 Not lucky to get 50%, I literally work for a Guitar Center lol. Policy is 50-60% depending on condition (most of the time it’s 60%) from used current median average. So if a piece of gear is priced used $1000 across eBay/Reverb, we’d offer $600 + 15% discount/tax cut on trade-ups. Don’t get me wrong, obviously you can get more selling it yourself and that’s the best way to do it (that’s just common sense). But it’s not a terrible option if you just have stuff kicking around and see something you like in store, even if you bring in a $60 pedal you still get 15% off a high end guitar or something that’s more expensive.
Not me, my dude. It's been like 10 years since I had purchased any type of guitar and splurged recently. That being said, my entire rig. (amp, pedals, even pa head) was stolen out of my car so it's been a long time coming.
The outro jam is best I’ve ever heard you play. Obviously you’ve played a lot faster and more flash or “impressive” stuff in the past but right here your bends were remarkably accurate, your vibrato so smooth, your dynamics on POINT, finger tone was beautiful and your overall phrases and note choices were really mature. For that reason I think you made a great choice in guitar. If it encourages/inspires you to play in such a way then I think you’re in for a joyous treat on your journey All the best mate.
@@frankfrank7921 oh shit man Idk I played it for my 16 year old cousin and she didn't even recognize that it was music... he might be onto something about note choices being on a spectrum of maturity
Same here. My guitar centers don't carry any of the "high end" brands. Just a bunch for Squiers and Epiphones. I gotta drive 3 hours away to play any boutique or high end axes.
@@Wynorrific And they give you 60% of used price. If he bought them new I'm betting it would be $10k. But I'm also guessing many were sent to him for review.
The Suhr guitar has the modern sound, like your favorite guitar players use to play. The Fender Telecaster has the sound for blues and jazz. Both are great guitars. I personally would prefer the Fender, because of the warm sounding tone. But at the end, it's all about your taste of music.
Bro!! That ending solo was sick man. I am going to have to learn that opening lick. That sweet rake to the sustained bend was just superb. You rock. Nice guitar bro.
I was fortunate to be able to grab a PRS594 semi and the Tone is beautiful! I had never really been attracted to hollows or sems', but yeah...I agree with you...very cool!
@@shane2973 ... Very cool, Shane. I found what you got, but with a black Eppi semi, through a 100W Vox, turned way down low, no pedals, and it sweats back feed back, sweet as a... Well, I think you get what I mean... Cheers, from OZ...
As a store manager at a music go round, these are my favorite kind of trades, too. It's way easier to talk 20 people into buying a (maybe) couple hundred dollar item, than to get that one guy to shell out thousands...
Might as well sell your guitar too, just hear me out, you'll have a never ending supply of picks AND you'll never have to change another string in your life, talk about set! XD
When you started playing at 7:50, all doubt went out. You're playing like Jeff Beck there, and it is so sweet. I was leaning toward the Suhr already, but that slow solo at the end was the answer. That's a beautiful guitar.
Sometimes the selling of a lot of smaller for a Big reward truly is a bargain. It's like a Art piece, where the entire picture is worth more than the sum of its parts (If that makes any sense of an analogy, haha.)
Eh, I feel like Fenders' get the same kind of market as Apple. They make guitars' mostly popularized for that seriously balanced look they have, not so much because they're the 'best' quality guitars around. Don't get me wrong, they're cool and sound more than fine. They're probably considerably average in comparison to some other guitars out there though. Just a big price tag. Like Apple.
Humbucker sounded way better at this point, not only that but also the 5 way switch was a win win, with coil splits already, but the fender still sounded a little bit lighter that's why the humbucker was really nice to hear, along with the semi hollowed body which gave it an even more nicer tone compared to les pauls or other humbucker guitars.
@@karlacenas4330 To be honest I think the biggest thing is the longer scale length than a Gibson that make humbuckers in a Fender scale guitar sound the way they do.
Being a non musician your guitar playing brings chills to me. I really envy you. Having broken a finger on my left hand (and had the shattered bone replaced with bone from my elbow) I do not have full use of that finger but I would rather be entertained by you.
You can still learn to play for fun and entertainment - really that's what is all about. Look up Les Paul, Jerry Garcia, Tony Lommi they all had messed up fingers, or missing.
you considered playing left handed? strumming and picking doesn’t take nearly as many fingers so if your right hand is fine that could be the way to go. Hendrix and Cobain both played that way
I had a accident which damaged my hand. I had some gigs planned and didn’t want to cancel them so I set up my guitar for slide and was able to continue playing with new arrangements for my songs. Try it out. Slide can be so much fun.
Nash makes great stuff and has less high altitude pricing!!! But there is also the partscaster route, which is great because you choose all the parts/components. You want a strat neck with ebony fretboard and stainless steel frets with a 15" radius? Bang, done.
@@pastorkev777 I think it sounds better than any other guitars probably because of the pickups, Although Nash and Fender CS almost look the same but they have different vibes. I also like the design of the case
Tyler, your playing in the end was the best thing you’ve done in your entire life. Joe Bonamassa should ask you for some lessons on playing with feel!!!
I seriously can't stop listening to that solo at the end. I've sent it to so many people as an example of the play style I want for myself. Amazing playing and love your channel!
Study, read, take elements of guitars you like and build your own. When you build your first axe, build a neck through so you dont have to crap around with a neck joint. A huge advantage is you can carve the body to fit your body!!! No generic design. Just do it!!!
Back again just to listen to that jam at the end. Just wow. If that isn't motivation to squeeze an extra 20 minutes of practice time in my day I don't know what is.
@Punished Aniquin i agree, that's why I said I might get one if I had a shit ton of money. Gibson Les Paul was my dream guitar as a kid, so why not lol
For SUHR the right choice. That ending jam was some of the best playing I've ever heard! Such great tone, but note choice and feel was top notch sir. :)
Tyler, wanted to let you know I voted for you for the internet guitar personality of the year or something like that award. Also great choice getting the Suhr!
Absolutely loved the sound from the Suhr. The Fender had softer and a bit more of a muffled feel to it. It is a lovely sound but the clarity of the Suhr felt better to me. And it is in a beautiful colour aswell. 😍
