It's that time again! I ordered a grab bag from my favorite ebay coin grab bag seller, MainStreetRareCoins.com. In this video I aim to show you all that even though most eBay coin grab bag sellers are just out there to scam new and young numismatists, there are a few that are actually fair. Once you find them, stick with them! This is the result of a grab bag I bought when I asked them to make a mystery coin grab bag with a theme.

I prefer random. Once we saw 2-3 proof sets, yawn, another proof set. The $50 one where you had foreign coins and all manners of other stuff was a lot more fun. For me, anyway. Good video.

Good score, that 1957 is gorgeous. I have a bunch of sets too 1970, 77, 82 - 90 and 2000 - could not sell them for love or money (US silver is popular here, but not clad). So I kept them as the quality of the coins inside are just stunning and I even ended up with a 2004 UNC set and even that is nice (Interesting as you get Philadelphia and Denver mint coins in separate envelopes). Love you channel and videos, bing coin collector here in New Zealand.

I'm surprised proof sets aren't worth more. Your explanation of why coins are proof, should raise the value....you'd think. - I like them. Like your idea of breaking them out to put in a collection too. I'm just starting and that has me thinking. thanks for posting.

Go with the "THEME" when you did that Grab Bag Challenge a Week Latter with Silver Seeker and Rob Finds Treasures, I was Rooting for my man Rob Finds Treasure, BUT you took it Hands Down because it was a Hodge Podge for both of them, there was no story to what they had, yours WW II. @@Silverpicker Well, I really love your grab bag videos, and I also really like your videos about paper currency as well, especially your collection videos because I never really cared about collecting paper money, nor did I really care that much about the art work and history. But after watching your videos about paper money, I LOVE the idea of having my own collection and I have much more respect for the history and artwork on different bills, and I've been trying to start one, but all I have so far is a star note and a $2 bill, but I have planned on buying some soon. I mean, ALL of your videos are awesome though! Yes I really like your grab bag videos, and sorry for this very unnecessarily log explanation lol! Edit: This evening my dad was paying me five bucks for yard work, and I saw a silver certificate in his wallet, and he traded me the 5 bucks for the silver certificate! Well one thing to note; in history there has been females on bank notes. Namely 1886 and 1891 $1 silver certificate notes. So there has been females on currency AND coins. But of course not recently so if love to see Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill. Proof sets are absolutely gorgeous both to hold and to break open for albums. I Would love to get my hands on one of those 60s proof sets. Those would be a great addition to my proof type set always looking for good deals on eBay and otherwise. Great video max love the great information! Keep up the great videos 😃

Bought a $200 grab bag and in there was a 1882 Carson City Morgan it was about VF-25 but still a $120 coin right off the bat also there were four 90 percent 1964 Kennedy half dollars and four silver quarters along with 10 mercury dimes

I think if it were me, I'd cherry pick the sets for coins to send off to try and get high grades on. Certain coins can be worth a lot if they grade high and are DCAM. Thanks for another video.

I am also not fan of proof sets. Local mint went insane few years ago and now produces a lot more proof commemoratives than standard ones - which of course led to latter becoming more expensive. Like, it's okay to want coins pretty and shiny, but it doesn't have to be looking glass level of shiny. Sometimes I also want to remove coins from capsules for whatever reason (cracked capsule), and single piece of dirt or fingerprint ruins proof instantly.

the old 50s proof set is one you need need to see if you can get a high grade on the coins and if you can get a proof 65 or better certify it.

I love the grab bag vids but I don't love this one. Your video of a pervious grab bag from them is featured on their website. You communicated to them a desire to have a theme. This lends way to feeling like the grab bag might be seeded by them to make it look like they sell stuff like this all the time. You're pretty genuine when it comes to your vids so I'm not accusing you or them, but this particular video didn't feel as genuine as if you were buying anonymously. Keep up the good work though, you're one of my favorite coin tubers!!

I like the proof sets ,I like the cases and the cardboard in top condition. I think the bag is worth $ 10. If you haven't pulled them apart yet and buy the way one of the older sets is my birth year .I would swap some small weight Gold Kangaroo coins still in the Perth mint packs that I brought when they came out for that whole lot including the bag.We could work out what you want price wise Including the postage as I am in Australia.Just something to think about .Cheers.

Not counting commemorative coins and coins without any people on them, US coinage exclusively had females on them from 1793 to 1909, up until the point when the Lincoln cent was introduced. Granted, those females were all different depictions of Lady Liberty, but many of them were modeled on real women. 1948 was the first year where no females were displayed on any regular issue US coins. That lasted 31 years until the Susan B. Anthony dollar was issued in 1979. Other than another period from 1982-1985 with no females, we've had at least one female coin ever since (if one includes American Silver Eagles). So really, the females dominated our coinage for 116 years and the males dominated the coinage for 35 years! The remainder of the years have had a mix of both genders. I have nothing against the inclusion of more historic females on coins however. But I'd also be happy if we just returned to having Lady Liberty on more coins moving forward. If I had to name my 10 favorite coins, all of them would be ones with Lady Liberty on them... Peace Dollar, Morgan Dollar, Walking Liberty Half, Mercury Dime, Standing Liberty Quarter, Barber coins, Capped Bust coins, Draped Bust coins, Saint-Gaudens, etc. It would be cool to see some new Lady Liberty designs moving forward.

I totally agree with you on the Lady Liberty design. Nothing beats it. Iconic, classy, and beautiful. I would say, however, that I disagree with your assessment of the history. On a technical level you are absolutely correct that there have been women on coins throughout US history, but as you said, none of them were real people until the Susan B Anthony dollar. Even though the SBA dollar has been in "use" for 30 years, it's really a failure of a coin. It's hardly used and many Americans don't even know it exists. My point was more focused on the idea that just like real men were instrumental in building this country, so were real women. I think they should be honored on a bill or coin we actually use. Similarly, It's hard for me to believe that we still haven't put a black person on a common coin or bill, given their contribution (albeit forced) to literally building our country. In any case, thanks for the thoughtful comment :)

Following up on the chat, you can check out the video of The Coin Show episode 161 around 45 minutes in to see the 1892 proof set. Looks like if you have really deep pockets, you could assemble proof sets before then (back to maybe the 1850s) one by one.

I hate it when people say things like "well how do you expect to get a $100 worth of stuff? They need to make money too!" How do I expect to get a $100, idk, probably because I spent $100. You don't see this anywhere else. You dont see someone buy an xbox or ps4 for double the price just so the seller can make money too. If they're selling $50 worth of coins and selling it for $100 and telling you that you will receive $100 worth of coins then it's a scam.

The SMS sets aren't business strikes, but they aren't proofs either. They're a special finish. As for women on US currency, there are plenty of commemoratives with women, as well as a banknote with Martha Washington on.

A good solid grab bag! But sad to say, the commemorative Half Dollar isn't Silver. It's clad. The only modern commemorative Half Dollar that's Silver is the 1982 Washington 150th Anniversary of Birth.

That 94 prestige set looks amazing. Also funny thing I went and got out my 2000 proof set and not even a minute later in the video you pulled the same year set from the bag. A themed bag is nice but I prefer just a random assortment of coins in a grab bag. You never know what you'll get and you may even find silver in the lot of foreign coins that you didn't know was silver.

Put Martha Washington on the quarter and Dolly Madison on the $1 bill. Since Washington still needs a coin, let get rid of the penny and nickel and make a widespread dollar coin with Washington on it or have a dollar coin with the image from the first Continental Congress on it.
