I spent $750 on this childhood Pokemon card collection. Let's see if it was a good buy. 

I'm bummed I didn't have my childhood collection any longer either! I think the only card that survived is an old stater deck yugi dark magician in my closet at my parent's house

Ahhh I'm sorry but I feel your pain. I unfortunately cannot even remember the order my binder was organized in, because 20 years ago when I was 12 my mom sold my binder and my tupperware full of old school "bulk" (those commons that are now worth more than 90% of holos, rares and Vs from the past decade) for $25 at a yard sale she never told me about until it was too late. My 1st Edition Charizard was $25 when I convinced my dad to "spend money on useless cardboard" as he called it, that was in there, nowhere near a 9 or 10... But definitely a 6 or above, more likely a 7 or 8. I never played the trading card game, kept it in that binder the whole time because I lost interest in Pokemon just a few weeks, maybe a month at most, after I got it. I lost interest mostly because my parents refused to buy me another pack, no matter how hard I begged, my dad was certain that Pokemon was a dumb waste of money, more than anything else I ever asked for... My dad was not a good investor as you can likely tell; "Hmm, there's a new trading card game that is setting record after record in terms of popularity, where they sell these finite collectibles at a rate never before seen. I don't see how this could be worth anything at all one day." He would buy action figures like I remember he had bought me a DBZ Vegeta, my mom would buy Bionicles for me.. But I had no way of getting any more Pokemon cards.. The saddest thing, is that my mom had a bunch of vintage Barbies and American Girl dolls from the 50s and one day her mom gave ALL of them away, every last one. Just for my mom to find out some of the exact dolls she had were selling for $100,000s each decades later. She always regretted not making sure her mom kept them.. But then she did the exact same thing to me with my once per-lifetime collectibles. And she repeated the generational curse.. Which I have refused to do with ANY of my daughter's toys, and she LOVES collecting Pokemon cards and trading each week at the library on Pokemon day! Its too bad she started getting into the cards right when Pokemon began mass producing them at an absolutely obscene level, billions of cards a year, more than 1/4 of all Pokemon cards ever printed, since their English inception in 1998, were printed in the year my daughter started collecting! But then she has Good Smile Toys, I wish I kept 1 of them in the box because they're finite, they're absolutely one-of-a-kind. But I have made sure we have every single accessory, we have the boxes, the everything that came with all her Good Smile Toys of her favorite characters like Kirby and squad. That's a toy I could see being worth something some day, but if not, we have had our fill and 100 times more playing with them because Good Smile magnetic Kirbo toys are absolutely lit af headie nuggz. But back to my poverty pokemon days.. And living in the lowest 10% income bracket of a super rich town with kids who brought in insane collections into school to brag about the cards they bought with allowance, its really disheartening to not be able to even get a pack a month. And by the time Rocket came out, kids were showing off their Dark Blastoise, Dragonites and Charizards, all my friends lost interest in the original Base charizard.. and at my school, that little 1st edition stamp made no difference, it was either a base charizard or it wasn't (they did look down on the non holo Charizards from the pre-built deck set you could buy, but other than that a holo fire lizard was a holo fire lizard, 1st 2nd 3rd or 4th print runs... which I didn't know were a thing until 2015 when I got back into the cards)... I know my 1st ed Charizard wouldn't be a 10 because I bought it used at a card shop, the only card I ever bought like that.. All my other holos and cool cards, Ancient mew and all my promos, they were all pulled by me and put directly into my binder. Could have been potential 10s and at the very least 9s. I was good to the few cards I had. She sold my 1st edition Charizard, and all those nostalgic cards, even if I only had a few holos, for $25 at a yardsale.. OH and she included my OG Blue Eyes , dark magician, and the few Yugioh I bought before losing interest there too. Sorry I went on trauma dumping.. Because just as luck would have it, I had my 2nd collection , my first adult collection and first one since mine was sold for $25, which had 15 Gengar Full Arts (I got insanely lucky with that exact Phantom Forces card.. I would always end up with 1-2 ultra rares per set that I just pulled insane amounts of compared to the others.. For Phantom Forces it was at least 12-15 Full Art Gengar EX, and 1 Silver Dialga that blew my mind and made my day. For Legendary Treasures it was the Mew EX with 15-20 of them. I only opened 15-20 Flashfire and never pulled anything of note, and I only opened 30 or so Black and White, except Legendary Treasures which I got a lot of to say the least lol, but I got nothing from any of those other BW packs. I had 15 Gyarados Secret Rare, 20 Alakazam Secret Rare, just stupid numbers of some of my favorite then-Modern cards. I will always remember my first card I ever pulled when I started back up: Skyla Full Art, first pack, then Kingdra EX was my first Pokemon ultra rare. All those cards.... They were stolen from my car.. OVer 1,250 Black and White, XY and a few Sun Moon when Guardians Rising JUST released prior to my car being robbed. My backpack was stolen, my school laptop, and all my ultra rares... Not a ONE left.. The cards were what I cared about, I didn't even mind losing 100s of hours of school coding and programming stuff... Those cards.. Damn it hurt... The collection i always wanted to build as a kid, but got stuck with 1st generation immigrant dad that called pokemon stupid and a waste of money, and still does to this day despite every major news org that he watches having surely made one report or another about how expensive cards are now, the 5 million dollar psa 10 illustrator, the 1st ed Charizard HE BOUGHT AND CALLED WORTHLESS selling for a quarter million regularly.....
