GW really has a chance to lean into selling STLs for even small stuff like upgrade sprues (maybe even being cute about it and calling them STCs) or extras. The loss of people 'sharing' them would be tantamount to people giving away the rulebooks online as pdfs (which already happens to begin with) and only encourages GW to price them so that the effort of having to hunt down bootlegs just isn't worth it compared to the convenience.

I live in the UK too and XPS foam is indeed hard to get off. Instead, I buy insulation foam from B&Q or the like. It comes in large sizes and is cheaper, but the top and bottom faces are covered with an aluminium sticker. However, it's super easy to remove.

J3d tech's cubes of calibration are ESSSENTIAL for printing 40k vehicles. Dimensional accuracy is so important when you're putting together tanks and knights to make sure everything fits as intended.

I use the Amera Labs Town Test. It's pretty damn reliable, tests a bunch of different things and has never steered me wrong.

I also printed a warhound. Just started painting it so much trim work to paint. Want to finish it but time is something I’m lacking. Keep up the great work.

You make me wish I could play again, I just got my first resin 3d printer, Unfortunately I had to stop playing due to medical issues, namely essential tremors. I drop and knock over models constantly and considering I'm a diehard Eldar player the model break all the time. But your video's are definately inspiring.

Since I started back in 2006, I loved the Lucius pattern Warhound. Thanks to it's discontinuation about a decade ago, 3D printing is the only way I can hope to get one.

sunlu had a 10 year sale a week ago, i scored 3l of the grey ABS-like for about 50$, currently midway through printing a ta'unar with it. Love that resin, cheapest thing imaginable

I've printed a few warhounds for myself and my friends in the past, but only in FDM. I never got around to painting it however, but recently finally got an air brush... Time to see how big of a difference a resin warhound is to an FDM warhound (printed on a regular Ender 3) printing at 0.2mm layer height.

i basicly only use the cones of calibration from tableflip foundry it does take a long time to dial in but i never swich from one resin type to another so i only had to do this once and its been fine for the last 5 bottles ive done so far

Man I really gotta thank you for your videos. My father and I just got into Warhammer books and wanted to make minis but were very daunted by the price. Got a 3d printer, had no idea what we were doing (I still think we don’t lol), but found your videos and were able to print off our first few squads of marines! It’s been an awesome bonding activity to print, wash, cure, clip, and paint our minis together. Thank you!

On the XPS foam side of things you can get it in Ireland- without paying the hobby tax. Both B&Q and Screwfix (who do deliveries) stock them. Not sure if either one is near you. If you try searching for XPS foam you wont always get the best result. They often label it under "Extruded Polystyrene Foam". Now to be fair it's not as thick as what you've shown their but I'm using it for Warmaster scale terrain so I only recall as big as 10mm but you can always glue it together and if you asked they might order it in. Keep up the good work.

for the safest refilling do the followign: Wait for the layer to fully retract, pause the print. Fill the vat. Resume printing

I have a ender 3 showing up today so I was going to try a hybrid, armor and visible parts in resin, loadbearing parts in FDM

With the foam, try looking in your local big hardware stores under insulation foam. It took me ages to find the right stuff in Australia.

Pls look up images of the warlords legs before gluing! Almost glued one of the legs on backwards.

I might have a go at printing the Mechanical parts in FDM and post processing them after to smooth them out to save a bit of money. Would probably make the thing mad heavy wouldn't it lol. I eventually want to tackle that Imperator Titan on Cults one day lol. The thought frightens me though lmao.

Do enjoy watching these videos and I would love my own Titan Legio with all the Titans including a Warmaster, but do not have the space for the full scale ones. Even if i did the Elegoo Saturn 2 can not even fit the shin armour of a Warmaster. But happy with Titanicus sizes.

wow i feel like im so late to the comments but lets see if you still see this i have the stls had them for a while now but i only had a fdm printer an didnt want to waste my time printing them and putting 100s of hours in to just getting them smoth. but i now have a sla so i was wondering is the file scaled to the right size to what GW sell or do i need to bump them up the head is 39.92 mm thats from nose to the ball and 27.36 side to side

I don't use the same cure station, I have a Mars but I always cure my pieces for at least 10 minutes.

Cones of calibration are prefect for exposure test (escpecially for supports). Other then that essentially the starship and the exposure test you used.

Cubes of calibration and I support my own models. When I do post cure, it is just for a few minutes, but if you thoroughly wash the model then you don't need to post cure.

about how much does it cost for the amount of resin needed, just interested as I need one of these puppies and am about to get into resin printing myself.

Made a chaos war hound for me and now made a second imperium and starting a 3rd for some local game players. Don't understand why you didn't hollow out your pieces? Mine are so light weight warhounds it's nice. My file looks like same details but mine is also broke down into multiple pieces. I may have more time in assembly but hollow parts, light weight, less time, less resin. Didn't time mine but I don't think including printing hours were near 100 hours.

look you.... why wasnt this like 2 weeks earlier? ive got like 2 more plates to finish mine. would have been sooner but i was having problems with the feet and hollow areas in the toes. i fixed it by jacking the exposure time im hoping it doesnt decide to leak resin at some point

Easy composites sell xps foam in all sizes and shapes pretty cheap aswell from what I remember

I've found with most resins I've used I cure minis for 2 minutes because too much makes it too brittle and anything bigger and bases anywhere from 3 to 5 minutes

Daft question... how close are these to the FW models?

The supports were harder to remove because you used standard resin. ABS like resin has more flexibility, making support removal easier. I find that ABS leaves the raft easier to peel off in once piece, while standard causes it to chip away. I have no problems mixing the two however, but prefer ABS.

I will say that retract distance looks huge and the retract speed looks pretty slow.... I use 6mm retract at 210mm/min retract speed with this exact resin on a Saturn S and it handles it fine, I think you can shave a lot of time off your prints. As for calibration.... try the cones of calibration

3 seconds over cured the supports, 6 seconds would ruin the print, but a cure takes 5 minutes... never makes sense to me lol. I started hand flashlighting the peices, little longer for thick parts, less for thin. Untill the whole surface has that "dry" look.

most calibration tests are completely useless for mini printing, as they are tailored to prioritise "finest detail", the "cones of calibration" test however is designed to show the finest detail you can get without your supports failing, it's also an objective test, there's no "good enough by my eye", it tells you exactly if it is under or over exposing. EDIT: also, the cleanup of your parts is pretty awful, there's all that horrible scummy white stuff still on it. those wash and cure stations are horrid for this, I'd suggest a multi-stage cleaning, first stage is your "dirty" IPA, give the parts a good shake in that first to get rid of the bulk of the resin (this could still be the wash and cure station), then go to a mid stage which washes off all the dirty IPA (which gives that white scum) and get out the toothbrush to give the surface a nice rub, and then your final "clean" IPA, where again you're just going to give the parts a good shake in that to ensure a perfect finish. For this I just use mason jars with the flip top lids, and your IPA goes a LOT further as you can wait until all the pots have settled, pour off the top clean part of each of them, dispose of the gunky layer, put the skim from the dirty pot back in the dirty pot, and put the mid and the clean one down in the conga line only changing when your "clean" pot is looking murky or you're getting the surface detritus again. Your models and your painting process will thank you.

tend to cure for 10 myself but not sure if thats overkill but want to make sure there is no leakage so feel better safe than sorry

Foam, you get that at the hardware store, don´t go looking for it in hobby stores or hobby suppliers

Why aren't you hollowing that model? In no way should that 1 part be 800 grams. I've printed the entire nids bio titan on my anycubic photon and it's only 400 grams because I hollowed it to about 1.6mm thickness.

You're overpaying for resin.... Resin in Brasil costs 20USD/kg.

I printed a warhound a couple of month ago and I needed 11 plates … 4 on my Saturn 1 and the armour plates (7 prints) on my anycubic mono 4K Now I’m planning to do a reaver, but mostly on the Saturn 😂

Bro that is one massive bit ha Its almost 1kg (after all its a estimate it gives you could be more than what it says) Jaysus lads ha| Also I cure for 30 seconds on each side for most models so 1 minute total in the curing machine, even with my tanks.
