If you wanted an easier way to do some very interesting things for a look. Prime with a flat black, dry brush with a bright neon color, use the same neon for the rim of the bases, use a bright glow effect for anything that would be lit up, then clean up the top of the base with a flat black. You could also swap the drybrush for edge highlighting for a similar effect, though it has a bit more work. You end up with a pseudo-wireframe look that looks a lot like older videogames (such as the unit frames in the original Starcraft) with the base forming the unit selection ring. Or something from a computer display. Minimal, but if done right A friend of mine did that for all of his xenomorphs with the old Prodos AvP game and the current Aliens game. He was originally inspired by the old Kenner Aliens toys...

I like the diesel-punk style paint job on the Necrons; it is very different to the normal rotting-robo-mummies look. I'm surprised that you woke up with your eyebrows intact; going to sleep around Luke.

That sounds like an awesome charity. I’ve been in the CAF for 36 years and I find miniature painting is an excellent way to ease stress. I think it took me 12 hours time to get the tomb blades built alone. So many tiny pieces with prominent mold lines!
