I Spent a YEAR Turning the Backrooms into a GAME... 

He went from making a funny game where a guy chases you to a fully fledged multiplayer standalone experience through an entire year. That’s pretty sick

I bought this game for my friends and I, and we have a blast going through your game. Can't wait to see more added and whatever changes you make to previous levels

Personally, I think that some people do want a version with no entities. Some people want a challenge, so I think you should make a peaceful mode where no entities spawn, exceptions being level run for your life, etc. Also side note, it would be cool if the entities could hear your voice and chase you when they heard it. P.S I really love this game and look forward to more levels! Keep up the work.

the mere fact that he did not abandon the project, despite its solid 12 levels and the death and disinterest of the backrooms shows how truly he wants to create a good game

Fun fact: The Backrooms isn't auctually about demons and entitiys killing you! Its about where you was as a kid. Where you used to play with your friends. Thats why you get the liminal feelings when you go there. Its when you remember where you was.

For all the people saying that he died, he did NOT. He just no-clipped into the Backrooms, which is also how he knows so much about them. The game is really fun, can you add steam workshop to make the game more replayable? Playing community created levels, gamemodes or using custom tools and items would add so much to the game.

I've made 10 episodes of this game so far and STILL haven't exhausted all of the content. Awesome work, man. Can't wait to see more content from you! (also, the editing in this video is crazy good.)

u should add frowners, an entity that appears while you are being chased and will sometimes pull you so safety, it also fights smilers

I've got a few suggestions for the game too! - Remove the Smiler's body on Pipe Dreams. - Make the Smilers on Level 1 different randomly generated heights. - Add new dialogue throughout the games levels and critical moments. - Make The Thing on Level 7 actually attack you on Level 7. - Make the lighthouse level on Level 7 accessible and workable. - Make every level have a door to the Hub. - Add a computer with the same password for the other computer in the Hub that details the entities in the levels. Feel free to add these to the game, be it in a small content update or the full release. But, please take these into account. I've followed you from the beginning, and without Discord, this is the only feasible way for me to get my suggestions to you. So, please add these! Love your channel and your game!

You went from being a small indie game developer making a backrooms game to making a full on masterpiece of a perfect game. This is one of the biggest games ever created by a youtuber, and Escape the Backrooms could easily stand side by side with Karlson and Muck.

It doesn’t feel like a year has gone by. It’s crazy how much work you put into this game. Definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a enjoyable backrooms experience

Bro, I played this with my three friends. I really like this effort that you put into this game. Sometimes I can see that it is not result of work of big developer team like: bugged animations in multiplayer, but I still need to admit, that game design is on very, very high level. Every level is a clue, there is some challenges and everytime players can be so scary about what happens next - really impressive :)

This is genuinely so cool. A couple suggestions: 1 adjust the AI so that the mimics look around in a scared manner so they blend in with players more and 2 For the procedural generated levels then you could create some pre set aspects for rooms and have your code pick a few of them and build a room from that

as a speedrunner and mega enthusiast for this game, all i have to say is that you dedication is through the roof. the new levels were a blast to play with my friends. it must be crazy to still be learning through education and having a part time job to becoming an incredible game developer. you really deserve a break, updates this big every two months must be exausting to make. great video and game :3

This game has improved drastically since its original release, and I'm glad it did! Best backrooms game out there now, period.

Idk if you only have test players or an actual team working with you, but no matter what I deeply respect you, I know that games especially like this one can take years to finish, and the fact that you're not speaking out about people rushing you too much is amazing, you did talk about the bugs, but no matter what people should be patient

Everything is either class 5 or 1. People either want to make a “super scary super dangerous” level or make a safe one. Class 5 has lost all meaning. This game is super cool by the way

The amount of memorable moments we've created, most of them we're laughing our asses off in fear and complete neglect for one another as we try to run away from the entities. Most people should know making stuff like this isn’t easy and doesn’t happen fast I would rather wait for a couple months for a update than get one every week that is trash so take your time and if things get hard feel free to take a break nobody is rushing you so have fun with it 😊

i bought this game, and i gotta say, i wish he would add a “peaceful mode” with no entities so I can just spend my time exploring the levels. He did such a great job on them that I’d love to be able to just explore the liminal spaces after I’ve already completed the game.

Me and my friends played through the game so far, it was one of the most interesting and cool horror experiences I've played in a while. It really reminded me of the og amnesia game, and the older frictional games. 11/10 keep up the good work

You should make level 389, it has the gamemaster which will challenge you to a game if you win you will be sent to level 1 if you loose you die.

You always say that the levels are rough around the edges and then you show us absolute masterpieces. Your games were never bad and you're doing an amazing job Fancy! :D Suggestion: For VR support instead make it so that to walk you have to move your arms like in Horizon: Call of the Mountain. Edit 2: One more suggestion was that if you could add the game on the PS5 & PS4 consoles (Supporting PSVR & PSVR2). Hope you like my suggestions!

The game is turning our really really well. Everyone can also tell how much he's improved as a game dev and how he's gotten way better at adjusting the levels difficulty, making the balanced and the models and ai themselves are way better now. On top of it the blender animations of you hitting things or showing them off are hilarious

Playing this with my friends was so much damn fun. Got me screaming left and right 😂. The only part which was a bit underwhelming was the circus clown due to the clown being completely bugged and not working lmao. he was just walking in place at the spots he teleported to, before teleporting somewhere else when someone would look at him. Was a free pass to the next level though 👍

yo fancy would you consider adding like a level editor or something with small assets like monster spawners and stuff, it would be really cool

I’ve wandered a bit around the levels, and besides the real plot of each one, there are empty areas that just end with an invisible wall, which takes away some of the uneasiness which the Backrooms are supposed to give you. (Thalassophobia, for example. At first I was terrified of getting down the boat and go swimming, but then it stopped being dangerous) I think a good idea would be inserting a “dead end” only on some levels, especially on the open world ones, where if you are too curious to get very far or explore some areas, you will be killed in some eerie way. This is like the poolrooms concept, but taken to the extreme. Maybe you can get “lost” in an infinite loop of that area full of fog, while your sanity levels go down. Maybe you get teleported to a small level or a labyrinth where you can only wait to be killed by a creepy entity (level Game Over, for instance). Who knows, the Backrooms are unpredictable, so you can’t know what would happen if you deviated from the “mainstream” way. You have to be always alert. Not to open some cracked doors or to enter certain, unexplored caves.
