a pretty big change from the business hotels I usually stay at!! BIG VIDEO NEXT WEEK!!! Also... we did *THE ULTIMATE JAPAN THRIFT HAUL!!* ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-34DaEviSUPw.html Would YOU Stay here? Join the discussion below! ---- Where's that Notification Squad at?
I probably wouldn't. It's more money than I like to spend on hotels when I travel. I'd rather spend money on doing and seeing different things. I want to spend it on experiences.
I worked for the Hyatt for 12 years and have visited a LOT of the hotels. Kyoto Hyatt, while it wasn't the one that was the most extravagant, it was the one I was the most attached it. Could have been the massive hill that it's on that I skated down, no breaks.
This is the number one reason why I love to travel so much. It’s because my apartment sucks so bad that I can’t wait to get to a place that’s better. Great video Norm! 🎉
We stayed in this hotel over Christmas, in a standard room. The breakfast was so good, and the staff were just so incredibly kind and thoughtful. My tween wanted white rice and Japanese style pickles with her breakfast and they brought us some each morning. We actually got a special at this hotel and it included 10,000 yen to spend on food, which went for Christmas cake and room service. Room service was really wild, because they brought in an actual table with the meals.
@@SharpLife4 , nothing? Japan doesn't have a tipping culture. I think they would think it was weird if I tried to tip or might be insulted. I do know Japanese hotels appreciate when you get out word about how good their service is and I've had hotels ask for a good review on-line. The Hyatt didn't ask for that, but I would whole heartedly recommend them, especially if you have dietary restrictions. Their room service is actually marked and for breakfast they offer non-dairy milks and off menu avocado toast.
Love how this hotel put some hints of Kyoto which has lots of history such as kimono-like patterns above the bed and the Hinoki tree bathtub! Konpeito candy is my favorite☺Breakfast is always one of my most exciting parts of travel too and the breakfast surely satisfies the guests😆
I loved those Kimono fabrics as well!! And gotta love that Konpeito, right? How about you, Yuka? Any exciting videos coming up? Hope you've been enjoying your RU-vid journey lately!
Morning Norm! Enjoying the video as always, and enjoy the variety of the content you bring to us. It's always fun to see what adventure you've decided to share with us. We never know if we'll go on a hike, a boat ride, a thrift shop run, or a personal dive into someone's life. Keep well and have fun!
Those rooms were amazing, especially that bathroom! And it was nice to see you exploring a bit with another person, it always brings a nice extra experience. A shame that people were a bit harsh last time.
Man! What a difference between a standard room and an "elite member" room! I'm almost tempted to book such a room for like the last night's stay in Tokyo or something.
@@TokyoLensholy shinto on that luxury room and yum on that breakfast as well. What I'm finding this trip is quality rest is *very* dependent on the beds and pillows, not the cost of the room 😆
Oh wow, the bath section of your room alone feels like it was the same size than my last hotel room :D Noahs room feels a bit like the one luxury apartment you visited in one of your video. So awesome! I'll probably stick to my business hotel rooms, even though I'd love to have such an awesome breakfast!
Loved your room! The back drop to the bed was so cute!!!! ❤ definitely a little bigger than a business hotel room haha. I love the wooden bathroom in the other room so beautiful. That breakfast bar was impressive and the food looked amazing! I hope you enjoyed yourself with this one and thanks again for another great video! 😊
I stayed here last February in the 2 bedroom suite (a free upgrade) on the top floor and it was SO NICE! The western and Japanese breakfast were super good. Can't recommend this place enough if you want a western style hotel, a regular room was pretty reasonable for a Hyatt. My friend and I had the same reaction as you guys. Thanks for the video Norm.
I stayed here on my first trip to Japan! When I went they had an event in the lobby where you could be part of a tea ceremony and try on kimono. They also had a maiko performance! It was incredible and I highly recommend if you want to go baller 😅
I prefer your room then your friend got because I will most likely be creeped out staying in that big place all alone. the room you got felt comfy, Thank you for the video.
Even with the bell on youtube hasn't been sending me notifications for your videos But thankfully I do check so I don't miss a video Those sugar things were one of my favourite snacks when I visited Japan
I only started getting into these amazing videos lately and had such a good laugh when Noah featured. Please have him on in more videos! He is so funny and endearing.
I am fluent in the grunt language. Basically, he said it is his honor to bring you to your destination, and it is a joy to meet you. He wishes that you would enjoy your stay in Kyoto. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask. And he asked about the weather too. Noah's room looks bigger than most apartments in Japan.
Wow, it is so surreal to see you in there, because in the years I worked for the Kyoto Convention Bureau I took clients on tours of this hotel, or met with clients in the cafe of this hotel COUNTLESS times. So surreal to see this. Fun fact: The fancy room your friend stayed in is the BEST room in that hotel and the ONLY room that has a hinoki bath. It is also worth noting that this is not, by any means, the truest 5-star experience Kyoto has to offer. Aman Kyoto, 4 Seasons, Ritz Carlton, and a few others (not to mention Ryokan) will all offer a next level experience. Or, better yet, I would love to see you take a nights stay at the new(ish) Park Hyatt Kyoto, if your production budget can handle it. $$$$$$ I think it goes for about $1500 - $2K a night. I love Hyatt Regency Kyoto, it is so nice, and I loved working with their team. But to be honest, I had many clients say "This is a great 4 or 4.5 star hotel, this is not 5 star. . . . "
We stayed in that hotel for 2 days in one of their standard rooms. The breakfast was AMAZING. We felt like we deserved a bit of luxury after all the ryokans. It was really great.
Looked like an amazing place to be. Especially Noah's little place. They definitely crank up the space and food at these hotels. Paying that for yourself would hurt your personal wallet spending in one night what would be a weeks worth of eating out. Crazy! Thanks as always for showing us Norm.
I've stayed at a luxury hotel once in my life, my mom and I went on a big trip to Vancouver for a convention and the hotel we stayed at was also hosting a luxury car convention as well, it was insane!
Great video and don't mind the haters in the video with your friend's first visit! I loved seeing him soak up every experience that he could! It would have been so boring if he was nonchalant! ❤️
Yassss yes yesss! I didn't realize but I think I was born to be fancy and to stay here. That wooden tub and the liquid sugar. Yes please! Thanks for sharing. I live through Tokyo Lens and Tokyo Creative. Love you all. 💚💜💙
In late May I will be in Kyoto then Tokyo. I have one night in a business hotel then the rest are hiltons. Very excited. The Hyatt breakfast looks amazing
Well DAMN. That first room was impressive enough, but that bathroom is the nicest thing I've ever seen! *_* The ceiling at the hotel resturant/buffet is super fun! That little waffle though 🤣
Both rooms are really nice, but I definitely prefer yours. The kimono pattern above the bed is beautiful. I just wouldn't use a room like Noah's. It's way more than I would need.
I’m with Noah. Everywhere I go is all about the breakfast. If the hotel doesn’t give me breakfast, I don’t want it. I’ll sleep in my car. Also, I own a little coffee shop in Kentucky, and I also 100% agree that liquid cane sugar should be an option everywhere. It comes as the standard in our coffees.
The breakfasts in some of the hotels I stayed at were top notch! I can't believe I've been home for 2 weeks now 😭 I want to go back! Much love from Arizona 💜💜
I used to work for the Four Seasons hotel and stayed at two of their luxury properties in Tokyo. Very different from the usual business hotel I stay at most trips. Honestly though, I spend so much time outside the room when I'm on vacation that it barely registers with me.
I absolutely loved the spacious bathroom with the tub. I had been working in hotel reception in three different hotels in Japan and the Daiwa Royal Hotel Grande Kyoto was somewhat similar. Also stayed there in normal rooms but seen the VIP rooms too which I also loved. Well they are lovely but unfortunately expensive for someone with average salary. Still worth to try one night 😊
Wow! Both rooms look great, but that bath in Noah's is awesome! I love the wallpaper behind your bed, too. So vibrant! The last accommodation I stayed in when I travelled alone was probably as big as your bathroom or Noah's closet. It was very 70s style with lots of dark wood. The bathroom in my room didn't have a proper door in my room either, so it felt very exposed. 😅
"It's all about the breakfast," & "I know exactly what I'm getting, Norm." 😂😂 That's how I travel. I'll sleep in a closet as long as there is good food to be had.
Interesting to see these rooms! I stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Tokyo for part of my trip there (got a deal by bundling with airline tickets), and our room was very similar to Norm's regular room: an extremely nice hotel room (no konpeito lol, though there was a thank you note with an origami crane!) I'm not sure I would know what to do with a room as big as Noah's unless I was either moving into it or spending my entire vacation in the actual hotel room! That wooden tub did look nice though. Also now wishing we had taken advantage of the breakfast: we ate at combini every day so we could get going faster! 😂
That balcony makes me think they were split when building on it being a hotel or apartments and the balconies made encase they would be apartments for little gardening projects.
Haha I was expecting a bath scene with that massive wooden tub. That night out in Kyoto looks amazing though, would love to see where else you ended up!
I work on the principle, outside Tokyo is exploring, in Tokyo is relaxing. When I stay in Tokyo I normally have a room similar to that which you were staying in (for quite a bit less the amount you mentioned). Last time was a room at the Hyatt Regency in West Shinjuku with access to their club lounge for breakfast which was fine. As I tend to get quite a bit of media from Book Off I have made use of in room Blu-ray players 😂 Of course outside Tokyo I tend to use business hotels so, much much smaller and much much cheaper. In Tokyo I may return to the hotel in the afternoon for a break and a nap before going out again so I want somewhere it is comfortable to be. Outside Tokyo I'm probably not going to return during the day as I may not even be in the same city 😂
