Not much the older hotels can do about the size of the bathrooms. Small is how they did them back in the day. This was a nice looking remodel for that small space.
I was thinking the exact same thing , can't move the pluming but they did a great job with what they had to work with and great job on all of the rest.
The Fremont is my favorite place to stay in Vegas. It's gotten even better with the room renovations and the new food hall. Glad you liked it there. Definitely a hidden gem of Vegas.
I've never stayed downtown because I thought the hotels and casinos were a bit of a low end experience. But with more of these videos I watch, I'm thinking I will give downtown a try. Plus the strip is getting expensive.
I use to be a snob about downtown till I started getting offers for rooms & tried them out. Now I only stay downtown! I have more fun & the money lasts a lot longer. Slots are looser & comps add up faster downtown & our rooms are always free. The only food we pay for is our Dunkin donuts & coffee in the morning 🌅!
The only downside to Downtown is the pool situation. Only Circa and Golden Nugget have a big pool area. The others (that actually have pools) are more like your standard Holiday Inn pool.
We were just in downtown the week of 1/15/23 celebrating my 65th birthday. We always get comped at the Golden Nugget. During our stay we visited the new Fremont food hall. It was so nice, clean and fresh. We enjoyed our favorite, Steak n Shake food. I just wish the Freemont had better minimums on the table games. We are 5-10 dollar gamblers. Thanks for your review!
trying to convince my wife to stay downtown when we come to town..she likes spending a day there, but not sold yet on staying there for our trips there. I personally love El Cortez; it's close to freemont without being on freemont and has a great old school feel.
Thanks Ms. Ruby !! Downtown is a great choice to stay if you like the Historical aspect of Vegas. A lot has changed, but the "memories" are still there. I appreciate the great reviews !!!
My dad is a major fan of the Fremont. I’m glad that they renovated the rooms. In the past, i remember experiencing dust from all the paintings and the bathroom (though still tiny) looked mature between a cross off a public restroom and an airplane bathroom. I’m hoping to stay there on my next visit.
If you are staying in Vegas in the winter non pool season and just going to gamble and drink and on somewhat of a budget then you just want to stay somewhere in a good location. Not sure I'd do the Fremont unless I was getting a real bargain but everything is so close downtown it really doesn't matter where you stay you can walk across the street to gamble unlike the Strip where across the street can be a 15-20 minute walk sometimes. Ruby, please review the Downtown Grand sometime. Have heard its a small but underrated gem and nice with low room rates and cheap table minimums.
Wow! Super impressed with the room renovations and the new dining options! I am a Vegas local...haven't stayed at the Fremont since 2020...great to see the new updates and looks way better than the last time I stayed there! Love all your videos !!!
Was that The "OG" Anthony Curtis (famous card counter and publisher/host of the Las Vegas Advisor) throwing away trash at the food court @ 4:27? That dude has been bringing Vegas junkies all the news from the dingiest casinos to the palatial palaces of the strip since before the internet! I believe he also advises Mattress Mack on his sports bets.
It was I know Him and I had to check. Met him a few times thru is LVA newsletter. He has to eat as well LOL I was there on Jan 24/23 for the day (Fremont steet) stayed at MGM not a fun place
Fremont Hotel has been our go to hotel for years. My wife and I love it there. All the employees are incredible! We've never had an issue with anything. We were out there this past September and will be back again this year.
I spotted a legend at 04:28, Mr. Anthony Curtis! If you want to know about gambling (specifically advantage); AC is the person to talk to. Although, I suspect he prefers the buffet to the new food court. Video poker it's important to pay attention to the pay tables. The ideal pay table for bonus poker is 8/5 (coins for a full house/flush). You were playing 7/5 bonus poker. Invest in a video poker simulator to ensure you are playing the optimal strategy and practice, practice, practice. The royal flush in my pic was on a 9/6 Jacks or Better (99.54% expected return) at a Chicago casino. Luck favors the prepared.
My sister & I have stayed there many times & the small bathrooms don't bother us at all! Our rooms are always free & no resort fees! Haven't seen the food court since the renovation, looks really nice 👍. We like getting D.D. in the morning. Thanks for the update, Ruby!
We stay at every few months. Love it there…1 . Plus on the bathrooms…yes they are small…but the new shower has a shower head that is flexible..and my husband is over 6’5”. And he can use the shower head comfortably
I love King rooms, they are for the most part so unpredictable at times. I feel like these are hidden features and are very subtle between a King room catered to one person, and then a little more spacious for a secondary!
For video poker try Jacks or Better and max bet. Have you guys ever stayed at Four Queens? Rooms are bigger (in the tower away from Fremont), recently renovated and NO resort fees. You can use the rooftop pool at Binion's too.
Tony Roma's restaurant in the Fremont is affordable relatively speaking downtown because the food isn't that good, it's bar food. Beware of the prime rib and steak/lobster specials- they often run out of those items or the steak tastes like leather. It has long lines because it's the only casual spot for dinner in the Fremont. Unlike other downtown casinos, the slots at Fremont are stingy/not loose. They also charge for parking. If you want a prime rib dinner deal that's legit than Ellis Island Casino Brewery has a $21.99 excellent prime rib dinner just east of the Horseshoe Hotel on Flamingo Rd.
Hearing you say the old downtown hotels don't have pools makes me think of how exciting it must have been when the Strip built it's first hotel with the big pool out in the back yard. WOW. Then very soon after the second resort was built with an even bigger fancier pool. The hotels on Fremont must have seen a severe drop in customers at that time. It's so cool to think of the incredible excitement people must have felt with being able to swim in beautiful pools for the first time in their lives probably, in beautiful surroundings, because I get that same excitement and wow feeling when I go into the Mirage pool!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the review Ruby. l like the fact that food options are reasonably priced and casino looks nice and clean. The hotel price of $90 per day is reasonable for downtown.
The problem with Fremont for me is the blaring noise until like 3am. On the 3rd floor you definitely gonna hear it big time. Tony Roma's is pretty good and not that expensive.
Not just loud but super loud.. -- I've been in that area different times and stayed in hotels and it's like they're beating a bass drum about five feet from your window.
@@judyfroemming7756 Shows you everything you need to know just by the fact that these places stay in business. A room with a bed to sleep in, but having extreme noise going on sounding like it's right out your window until 3am. Makes sense. What is wrong with people? How can any normal human being sleep in those conditions? It's freaky as hell.
I stayed at Fremont a few weeks back. The new food court and sportsbook were really cool upgrades. It looks like they are still working on upgrading the casino. It's our go to spot when we stay in Vegas. Really great video. Great job!
@@edwardeighth1948 no lol. Look up Las Vegas advisor. He has a RU-vid channel too. He was right behind her while she was eating in one of the restaurants
Glad you had a good meal. I ate at Tony Roma's in September. Had the top sirloin. It was the worst steak I've ever had anywhere. It was so tough. I chewed each bite, but couldn't chew through the toughness and had to spit it out. Left a pile of chewed meat on the plate. Couldn't flag down a server, so just left hungry. Prime rib may be better, but I'm not anxious to go back.
I have stayed at the Fremont multiple times. Last time was a year ago I stayed in one of the new renovated room. Way toooo small I thought it was a joke I went to complain and they told me all new rooms are the same size. And the charge resort fees now. Ruby got a big room compared to what I got. I love downtown but for the smaller rooms and bigger price I’ll stay somewhere else downtown. I love staying downtown
Ive worked security in a few Fremont St casinos, here's a tip get a room up as high up as you can and do not i repeat do not get a room facing Fremont St if you want any sleep. Ask for a room on the back sides of the property.
Well done.... looked like fun and not packed. The dinner looked so good as did the lunch. Price for food was reasonable with good portions. Thanks for doing a great review.
Thank you for this video. I appreciate your work, so I subscribed. Steak & Shake is a great option, I enjoy their breakfast. I'm sharing this video with my wife, we'll definitely consider staying here.
I don't know if you noticed, but Anthony Curtis from The Las Vegas Advisor is at the left of the screen at the 4:26 mark, turning away from a counter. Very cool to see in the same video another Vegas RU-vidr we watch (and of whose Advisor are members with)
Travel Ruby! The wife and I absolutely love your videos and content. You do such a great job on your videos. Thank you for the content and inspiration! BTW you should do a meet and great with yourself and Mr. Ruby, we would definitely attend! Take care!
I stayed at the Fremont over 10 years ago with my daughter. Our bed was on the floor. The closet was a hole in the wall with no door. The bathroom looked like a crime scene.😂😂 I was ready to go when we arrived but my daughter just loved it.🤯 The room was $19. That $99 is a huge jump!
I stayed at the Fremont for a couple of nights about 8 or 9 years ago, and my main memory was how small the room was compared to others nearby. It still looks small, especially the bathroom, but (a) I don't spend that much time in my room, (b) I'm not that big, and (c) the redecorating looks nice.
I miss all the great restaurants and gaming in Vegas,I drove from Dalton ga. To the west coast every week for 26years, and Vegas was one of the main stops for carpet conventions.
Heading to Vegas in 6 days! Staying at Elara for 7 days and then Golden Nugget for 1 night to do that area! Love Vegas! Thanks for all the tips and tricks Ruby!
They should include how most gyms charge you two months the day you sign up unless you cancel the 2nd month within the day you signed up. Everyone has mouths to feed
IF you ever decide to do a mini tour of your new Vegas home, please use this format. Well stocked fridge, free bar. Room service is very sketchy. No casino with slots yet. Have fun with it 😁
Love downtown LV! it is the biggest block party you will ever be a part of. The street noise quiets down by 1AM. If you are trying to go to bed before then, you are doing downtown wrong lol! they must have remodeled that food court area, i don't recall it being that nice and clean.
The room and entire property is impressive. I remember the old Freemont from way back when with no canopy. Every place was a dump but it was still fun.
You’re the Best. Going to Vegas soon and wondered where to dine? Food Hall looks like it will be perfect. Thanks again from an average gambler and foodie.
