Welcome to The Frey Life daily vlogs! We are Peter & Mary, a married couple in our early 30's, showing the ups and downs of everyday life with #CysticFibrosis, a genetic lung disease that Mary was born with. In August 2019, Mary started a new CF medication that changed the trajectory of our future, and life has changed dramatically - including our son, Elijah, joining our family in December 2021. We also have an adorable standard poodle, Oliver, and a hairless sphynx cat, Harry. It's our hope that these videos can be an encouragement to to celebrate the little things in life and find joy amidst a world full of hard realities!

Hospital parking lot lighting. I’m glad you had someone to watch Elijah so he doesn’t have to sit around a hospital. Long hair day. Cool. That’s a doctor’s office painting. Hydrate! 12 years. Time flies when you are having fun. Pain free blood work is the best. Spend some time with sweet Elijah.

I've done 2 PFTs I go for number 3 next week. They make so nervous. I was diagnosed with IPF Jan 2021 after be hospilised with a collapsed lung. I'm on 24/7 oxygen. It has been a rough year and a half. You're very brave because you've been dealing with CF all your life. I've been a sub for a long time. Now I can relate to what you go through. ❤️

Someone might have posted this but from someone admitted all the time - the metal is in the hole of the toilet to catch wipes that people flush when giving a urine sample (that they aren’t supposed to). The nurses have a special tool to get the wipes out.

Being asthmatic, I have to get PFT’s every 6 months. I’ve also got scoliosis and have had to get more MRI’s than I can count. I can fall asleep in the MRI tube with no problem. PFT’s? The nerves get the best of me about half of the time. One time it was bad enough that my pulmonologist actually told me to eat an edible.

When I had my 3 month old I remember noticing the metal in the toilet and being so confused and curious so I'm glad I'm not the only one has been intrigued by it 😅

Funny you ask that about the metal ring in the toilet. I just noticed it today and learned it's to prevent flushing wipes down the toilet, it must shred wipes if they are flushed.

I remember the first time we saw that lighting at the beginning of the video! I had a cold ten days ago and I'm still coughing up chunks of mucus. Got pulmonologist coming up to see if there's anything they can do. I know the mucus and coughing will be super fun for my pfts hahaha glad it's stable! I got labs today too and my phlebotomist was great too! It's the little things! Glad you got to get stuff done next week!

I’ve had a couple lung function tests the pass few months. They were not fun the second one was a asthma test. I’ve been coughing the pass 5 months now I still have more test to do yet.

I don't have CF, but i do have a dysfunctional vasalva maneuver and idiopathic anaphylaxis with asthma and a chronic cough, and need to do PFTs every couple years... and I literally can not ever coordinate my breaths and what not well for PFTs. I get so frustrated with not being able to do it the first time or consistently and that makes it even harder for me to do them. 😅

We just call it a car park in the UK, the one you’re in would be a multi-storey car park 😃 good phlebotomists are worth their weight in gold! When I give blood I hope for this one woman to be there cause she just makes it feel like nothing even happened!

I've never heard anyone in Canada use that term, I'm from Ontario, we call it underground parking, a car park or a parking garage. May be different in other provence's or areas of Canada, I'm from Toronto.

They are the strangest toilet. My hospital has them and a sign saying only flush TP.

Parking Structure. The metal piece is installed in hospital toilets because too many people try to flush paper towels and its hard on the plumbing. So if someone decides to flush stuff they aren't supposed to poor EVS staff have to go in and clean it out.

when mary was talking about how good the nurse that tool her blood was the best made me think of the last time i had to have my blood taken my veins are so tiny from getting poked a lot over the years for whatever reason i needed to be poked for if when i get poked for an iv my veins will pop the iv from them just flushing the last time i had my blood done i was telling the nurse about my tiny veins and instead of using a adult needle she used a paediatric one on me and didnt feel a thing then when me and my mom got out to the car we were discussing it and i said the next i need to be poked im gonna ask if they can ise the paediatric needle on me and then i said i wonder if when i get my surgery in September if i ask could they use a paediatric iv on me it worth a shot because the last time had to have an iv it took 2 nurses 4 tries and the first nurse as she was flushing one of the attempts the iv was coming out and she tried pushing it back in and it did work so then when the other nurse came in and got it on the day i was coming home and they took out my iv i had a massive bruise on my arm from the first nurse that was trying to put an iv in that was in june its now august the bruise from that iv is now a shadow it took 2 months for that bruise to heal it was that bad

I understand your nerves being amped up. And yeah for a great vampire. My last vampire was phenomenal which beats the one before that tortured me because she didn't listen to my knowledge of the way my veins worked and hadn't been properly trained for difficult sticks.
