surviving 50 hours in 3rd person. let's defeat dr. phil Check out Louis' channel here -- • Risking My Life to Bea... This video was inspired by my boy Liam Thompson -- • I Tried Living in Thir...
This is really fascinating. How it impacts the psyche and the sense of self. I'm sure it feels like he is detached from himself and the existential ramifications of that are so interesting. I love how he described his lack of being self conscious. Seriously, this gets me thinking.
This is cool because it tricks the brain into thinking like your eyes are literally outside your body which is why he said he was more confident to talking to others
@@meganpierre7607 The camera is treated as another "person", who is watching his every move You can even treat the camera as us, the viewer. So him seeing himself through the eyes of the camera who is another person, it's 2nd person view Like original comment said, you'd have to squint to see this reasoning lol
@@IAmNotBob. Not in the sense we typically use "third person view". Technically yes, seeing any other person counts as seeing them in third person. But this is a redundant thing to point out But in its usual use case for videogames, "third person view" means "seeing _yourself_ from the perspective of a third person". In videogames, you are both the object/character and the camera. In this video, we aren't the character But yeah technically we're seeing him in third person. He sees himself in third person (if you treat the camera as himself), and second person (if you treat the camera as us, the viewer)
I've honestly been so curious what it would be like seeing my own life through 3rd person, and this man out here actually doing it in public. Incredible, gotta love the dedication.
@@zedkey3825 Ayy man what’s up you play with my bro Jimmy Sotos at OSU im from around Jimmy’s old school Bucknell and I’m excited to watch you go crazy this year!
I think the problem here is that the camera is directly behind you... in most games the third person camera can freely orbit the player, and there are often two over-the-shoulder view options... at least one of these would make this immensely easier... I'd go for over the shoulder since it's easier to achieve, you'd just put one camera behind each shoulder and have a little button to switch the feed...
@@dinakarassane4123 It had 3rd Person written on the vr headset. So, at approach you might be confused but once you see that I bet you would immediately realize its for content.
I once was fortunate enough to sit opposite a person who had done LSD at a McDonalds. All seemed normal until he got his burger and started smushing it against his sternum. Turns out that he thought that was where his mouth was.
This is a great video! And also I imagine viewing the world in inverted colours, like using the magnifier app on your phone using the filter of inverted, that would be cool!
Not to be that guy but Liam Thompson thought of this first if you look at the description of this video it shows his link, so he gave credit and it's still a great video.
lol the fact he was going to 1v1 and he didn't know he was going against a future nba player Zed Key is hilarious edit: 1 year later and this has 16k likes. Crazy.
This is like a video game where you can mind control yourself as a game character, and you get feedback in all senses, smelling, touching and even tasting.
It takes 3 days for the brain to adjust. A study someone did some decades ago proved this. They had people wear these special glasses that turned the world upside down for 3 days, when they took off the glasses the world remained upside down for 3 days before returning back to normal. If he had continued to wear it for the full three days I’m very curious to see what would have happened. There’s no way he could have stayed in the perspective of Hurd person without the camera so would his brain have overloaded? Would it have gone back to normal and just been very painful with migraines from his brain wanting to be in third person? What would have happened?
One of my first memories as a child was me being confused as to why life wasn't in third person, which is weird because I didn't really get introduced to third person videogames until I was 5.
The first memory I have as a baby was when my Mom took me outside and it was hot and I cried but I can't spoke yet saying it's hot and I cried to let her know.
You would too if you had to live in THIRD PERSON at 144p for more than a day. I would too. Though I bet this would be more doable with gear that's half as heavy and a 8K headset with 120° FoV. Maybe a camera with zoom as well?
This is why a lot of times with a 3rd person POV the camera is actually slightly off to one side, so you can more easily see what is directly in front of the character.
@@zedkey3825 I know I'ma bad person for laughing but bro y'all make some of the best content on RU-vid it's impossible not to laugh 😂 who thinks of doing something like this? 😂😂😂 Gold!!
Not really, considering the video title says 50 hours. I would say it fell significantly short of expectations. The expectations set by the video title. Not even close enough to round up to 50. Why did the title even say 50 hours? I would say this was far below the expectations of anyone who read the title.
@@sussybaka69420 When the video is literally titled "I survived 50 hours" then yes you would expect them to do the full 50 hours. He did half of what he claimed in the title.
@@Delheoblanc yeah that would be even worse it would be like playing GTA but on that one mode that lets you see your own car but at tons of cool angles
Just as in security cameras, the camera here has to record in very low quality in order for large amounts of footage to be saved, in this case 50 constant hours.
@@anonymouswhite352 You can't just script it to start recording when something interesting happens. You can't make a computer know exactly what the viewer's, and the RU-vidr who makes content for the viewers will find interesting. It's not that simple.
Tbh the idiot pizza guy probably didn't say the common sense thing of we have a pizza here for room 301 or what ev, he probably just said here and the staff thought it was for them
Your commentary, the video style. The other humans that seem like NPCs...the fact you accidentally challenged an Ohio State basketball player to a 1v1 LMAO this is all hilarious
Kid let me teach you some geometry that everyone should know. First 1D: Directions of forward and backwards 2D: Can go up, down, forward and backwards and 3D: every direction. So in the every day life were in a 3D world which makes this video stupid and pointless
The part where you said "You there?" made me laugh so hard. Sounded so genuine like you forgot you weren't talking to your friend on discord while playing a game.
I mean pretty hard to see the other persons face, and we need those to know if people are interested in what why saying or currently checking out that hot chick somewhere behind us.
dying of laughter at the thought that the concierge got his own pizza and Ryan just came down looking like this, asked if he got a pizza, and proceeded to walk away with the concierge’s personal pizza
I actually came to the comments looking for someone who was saying how cheeky it was that the concierge took 3 slices of Ryan's pizza... But I never saw it that way and after reading your comment I am now dying of laughter also 😂😂😂
I thought the concierge stole his pizza, but after seeing this I rewatched it, and it was definitely the other way around. At least a new pizza was coming to replace it
@@tardis4125my guess is they got a pizza, concierge thought the boss or something ordered it since nobody warned them they're getting a pizza, and just helped himself
Prayer that you accept Jesus Christ as lord and savior and you believe in your heart he was resurrected on the third day after his death for our sins on the cross, accept Jesus Christ the son of God into your heart and accept the free gift of salvation today.
It's probably not being in 3rd person alone that's making it hard, it's probably also all of those indirect stuff that's making it hard like the relatively heavy mechanism strapped on his back, the unconfortability that lingers over time on the eyes and the modified height since he's probably like 230 cm with the contraption.
Why couldn't they attach a camera to the head with a thin stick instead of this heavy mechanism attached to the back? Camera is not heavy, so it wouldn't break a stick and it wouldn't be hard for the neck.
I would've been curious to see a competitive game of basketball against a player more on your skill level, but it was hilarious you found someone who's basically a pro
7:53 so.... When you got the pizza that was missing 3 slices... did you ever think maybe the dude at the hotel is just a super solid dude right. He ordered a pizza and you came down and asked, "Did you get a pizza?" and he's like yeah I did and just lets you take it right. Then your pizza shows up afterwards. Just saying. I've thought about it and this is the most reasonable sequence of events I could come up with.
I immediately thought "Well wouldn't the guy stop him from taking his pizza away?" then I thought, "Well, I'd be intimidated by a guy with a whole 3rd person VR machine strapped to him so I'll let him have it"
As much as I would love for society to be this awesome there's been tons of meals stolen by front desks, that's why delivery apps now HAVE to take the food to your door.
i remember Corridor made a cool 3rd person video back in the day, they had a "shoulder view" rig, i would absolutely love to take this challenge with that
I am just impressed man how the hell you managed to hold onto that low res vr third person view for 28h without throwing your guts out...my first and only time playing vr was playing half life alyx for 20min before puking the shit out of myself in my toilet. Got rid of my vr headset pretty quickly after that.
That was pay off. Stupid is what stupid does. And that was stupid. Yet unthought about. He never seen it coming. No pun intended. But that is one of the most common off the rim reactions of that ball. In the mouth would've been ugly. lmao
Whoever believes in the Lord Jesus Christ shall not perish but have everlasting life. Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand! Jesus is returning and he will judge! God bless …..
Idk why but I was laughing so so so so soooooooooo hard when you got hit in the head with a ball 🏀,I replayed it like 80 times at LEAST and screen recorded
