The editing of jumping between Joey quietly going through An Experience in his tank and the owner talking so normally was just a masterpiece. Yeah, sometimes I forget that the majority of the world is not well versed in cannabis or the inner workings of it. I swear when it comes to pharmacology so many of these countries drop the ball Cannabis & many other drugs have wonderful pharmacological abilities. Honestly if the Japanese government would get it's head out of it's ass and invest in these potential pharmaceuticals they'd see a drastic decrease in the suicide/depression rates. I can see MDMA, Shrooms, Ketamine, Cannabis, Kratom, etc. being used as potential treatment plans they already have a decent amount of research backing them that show promise.

I've done sensory deprivation 7 times, in a couple different countries and in different tank models, but I can say the experience has always been very consistent across sessions. I always come out feeling incredibly refreshed, rejuvenated and at ease. I'm quite tall and have back problems, and this is one of the few things that helps a lot. I used to go to a chiropractor and in between 2 sessions I went to float once, and when my chiropractor saw me again he said "I have no idea of what you've done, but your back tension is gone". A couple of tips if you want to try it out: -When searching for a place near you, keep in mind these businesses tend to refer to themselves as "floatation centers", so that will probably be a better keyword to search rather than "sensory deprivation". If your nearest tank is located in a busy city/area, give yourself some time before you go back into the world again. Going straight from the tank to the busy streets can feel very abrupt. I'm sure if you ask the receptionist to sit for a few minutes at the waiting room they'll be totally fine with it. -As Joey pointed out, the air inside the tank will gradually become the same temperature as the water, which is on the warm side. If warm temperatures stress you out, you can take your towel, fold it, and place it on the edge of the tank, then close the lid. This will leave a small opening so the tank won't be 100% closed and some colder air from outside will get in and it won't feel as hot. I would still recommend closing the tank normally if possible.

I remember reading a science fiction novel that counted sensory deprivation tanks as one of the most effective methods of psycological torure around. Not such an issue for an hour or two but over a period of days / weeks I can see that you have absolutely no senses available to you including touch and hearing (I can't remember the exact description but I think the theory is that there was some drug/implant to stop people from moving about or sleeping through it) being quite a terrible experience.
@OneFinalAutumn
@OneFinalAutumn 2 года назад
Do you remember the book? That sounds like an interesting concept.
@despicablepenguin
@despicablepenguin 2 года назад
It seems in fiction it is common to describe this as torture which is why I find it funny that humans can relax to this. It's probably the fact that they can get out at any time though and don't have to endure it for a period of days, weeks, months or years. I remember in the webcomic I'm the Grim Reaper, losing all your senses is described as the worst torture you can get. It is what you endure in the 9th circle of Hell which is the deepest level and the most severe level that a person can get. The main character essentially went crazy in there and it didn't help that that part of Hell also brings memories up and displays your worst nightmares in front of you by having images of real people you know shown in front of you (kind of like a hologram but real I presume). I'm not sure if you can actually sleep in there. I presume since you don't have touch, you can't move either so you can't exactly close your eyes???
@darthschradergg
@darthschradergg 2 года назад
Yeah, most humans suffer minor trauma from just a day of no light and sound. I think that if someone went in there for a week i'm pretty sure they would come out different.

@@paulogaspar8295 actually I'm pretty sure it's still bad if you don't sleep for one night. It just builds up more and more if you don't sleep multiple nights. Like for example, one hour of not sleeping your usual time or the amount of time you're supposed to sleep can still give you negative effects (and no there is no such thing as catch up sleep) which will also effect your next night and also later on down the path but it just builds up more the more you don't sleep. I would know because I've had that problem for so long and so I've researched a lot about sleep

I once went through manual sensory deprivation, haven't successfully done it since though. It's a lucid dreaming technique where you go straight from consciousness to a dreamscape. It was honestly the most crazy experience I've had in which i let go of all my pent up frustrations and anger and began an out of body adventure, the worst part was that i was unceremoniously woken up just after it began. It was very color dependent in that i started out in pure white, then became angrier and angrier for no reason as everything was dyed a deeper and deeper shade of red. I for some reason became more werewolf like as it kept going. At the breaking point i asked the single question of, "why am i mad?" And it all melted away to grey then my body started evaporating in a blue mist. I became a creature of soft blue mist and exited the world once it all became pure white again. I then just started floating away from my body and got a bird's eye view of the house and before i reached the clouds i got woken up. I was very grumpy for a long time after that because I felt something important was cut off before anything more substantial even began. Ever since then I've been having trouble with lucid dreaming.
@Zorovee
@Zorovee 2 года назад
I’d love to hear more about how you did sensory deprivation yourself. I can’t find anything on the internet about it and I wanna try it out for myself
@lazylazerrsp8781
@lazylazerrsp8781 2 года назад
@@Zorovee it was originally a guided technique where you listen to someone walk you through the experience but i ended up losing it and kept forgetting some steps. The new method that i used only in this time was the manual sensory deprivation like i said which came about off the cuff. What you want to do is to lay on your back with your head facing up(I'm a side sleeper so this was mildly uncomfortable). The slightest discomfort isn't necessary but goes a long way towards keeping you from straight up sleeping. You want to keep to a steady rate of deep breaths to completely flush the lungs every time or at least every other time. Slowly stretch every limb without disturbing your head, this is to help relax EVERY muscle in your body, this can be done by rolling your joints and flexing then releasing. A key part is to time it with your breathing which helps you maintain it(I'm a terrible multi tasker so if it's not in tandem i tend to forget to keep breathing DEEPLY). After a relaxing the body you'll feel really loose and extremely comfortable, don't move for anything unimportant like scratching an itch though you can extremely slowly fix your posing to a slightly more comfortable position such as fixing wrinkles. The next step is to imagine stepping into warm water, if it helps think more like a magical or futuristic sleep chamber in which the fluid seeps down to your bones. The warmth should slowly spread millimeter by millimeter and never move unless it seeps through fully first. You want every bit of volume to feel this soothing warmth. Don't forget the deep breaths because it's what's bringing you such a new level of relaxation. Now comes the trickiest part... The true sensory deprivation step. Although sense of touch is slowly becoming dull it's not at that level yet because it's too warm and soothing. The real start is with sight. It helps if you start with your eyes open, but you want to slowly introduce a blind spot in your eyes. You can help your mind along by doing the slowest blink of your life and engraving the sensation of light being blocked off. The goal is to bring an even greater level of light deprivation. This can be done without opening the eyes but it's a more obvious visual cue if it's wide open. The blind spot should either start at the very fringes or the center of your sight, whichever feels more natural or easiest for you but do make sure to maintain still eyes to help it along. If you ever did those stereoscopic 3d things with crossing your eyes, it should have a similar effect where there's pseudo blindspot that's both there and not. You want to keep strengthening and reinforcing this until it blocks your full vision(peripheral and center); with your eyes open it'll feel like a disconnected patch of amorphous color almost like those images you see after looking at something too bright but with an ever-changing color scheme. The next step is to carefully maintain this with fully shut and still eyes. If you feel ready you now want to slowly bring your vision back and into one source almost like switching cameras. I like to imagine it's the third eye but it's somewhere in your brain. The key is to have your sight become one view of darkness (to me it feels better to call it void because it's somehow both darker and not then closed eyes, more like a darkness adjacent). This is now the true sensory deprivation stage. It should feel like you are at the precipous of completely losing all senses. The final sense to leave will be one of balance... You want to tilt your mind and fully control it. It might be different at this stage for everyone, i saw a distant speck of light. The goal for me was to chase and finally reach this light. The problem was that controlling the sense of balance without moving your eyes is very difficult, but not to worry just reintroduce the blindspot and try again. It's only a minor setback if you twitch but keep striving and you'll reach the goal. For me, passing through the light was the final step because it takes supreme control of proprioception to reach an evasive light. I couldn't reach the light without the blindspot because i couldn't see it without the lack of sense of light. Some people might shy away from this step because it's a trope that "entering the light" means attempting to enter the afterlife.

I was told that you have to do it at least 3 times to fully relax because you now know what you are getting into. I didn’t fully relax because it was something so different but I really enjoyed how quiet it was because there is always noise going on so to hear complete silence it allowed me to feel no anxiety for once. It is a bit expensive and I don’t think I would do it any time soon but it was very interesting!

The reason we say to book at least three sessions (which yes for flotation therapy is true) is because just like everything in life its a practice. And so the benefits of flotation therapy generally don't start applying to day to day life until the third session. Just like any muscle, the mind can be trained to be more in tune with the present moment. I know this probably all sounds like nonsense it did to me at first as well but I can say that getting into meditation was one of the best things I took up during lockdown.

I’m Canadian and I can confirm CBD is definitely not a drug. We literally have legalized weed it’s self and THC and CBD are different in every conceivable way. CBD is more like taking a weak Advil than anything else. In fact you probably will feel more from an Advil than CBD. Saying their the same would be like saying potato’s are the same as alcohol because potato’s make vodka.

About 4 years ago I was diagnosed with a rare disease called Diabetes Insipidus (completely unrelated to Diabetes Mellitus aka sugar diabetes). Long story short due to all my symptoms before diagnosis I went without sleep for nearly 2 months, I was sleeping 15-20 min at a time due to constantly waking to urinate (a lot). That does a lot to you mentally... so to destress as I'm going through the diagnosis process I decided to try one of these to help relax me and get me back to a good state of mind. This was by far the best thing I've ever done for myself EVER. I was relaxed for 4 days after this. Even though I had to get out at least twice to pee. And I'm extremely claustrophobic. I get a MRI once a year and absolutely hate it, have a panic attack every time I'm stuck in that awful tube. I haven't been able to go back in a while due to recent diagnosis of a rare cancer that causes lesions/ulcerations that makes it very painful, dealing with it for 2 years now not knowing what it is but finally diagnosed last month with LCH which might of caused my 1st illness (in a nutshell). Now that I'm finally getting a hold on it and under control I want to revisit so badly and help me destress again. You are right though, no words can describe what you go through in there. But I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone curious about it.

@bonogiamboni4830
@bonogiamboni4830 2 года назад
I'm pretty sure you can't even overdose on THC either since it doesn't affect the vital parts of your body like heart or lungs not do weird shit to the parts of the brain controlling those. You'd have to be force fed pure THC oil in large amounta and a short time to actually die from it. At least this is the way i've heard it, not sure if it's real.
@HouseMDaddict
@HouseMDaddict 2 года назад
@@bonogiamboni4830 your body can develop a habit to something and overtime you would need to keep increasing how much you use it over time overtime to achieve the same effect. Your brain and your body can grow to prefer a different "state" overtime but it's based on habit versus say a chemical dependence like with nicotine or any hard drug. There are accounts of people getting addicted to THC chemically as well but most people don't. THC is a stimulant and affects your brain and nervous system. You can overdose on water, so you can most certainly overdose on anything.
@cojocoolio
@cojocoolio 2 года назад
@@HouseMDaddict the amount of thc you would have to consume for it to be lethal is an amount that no fucking person on earth has ever consumed. I've been on "Floats" in sensory deprivation tanks a couple of times, and they are hands down some of the most relaxing and refreshing mental resets I've ever experienced. I'm already a "stuck in my head" sort of person, but I am also very ADD and distractible, so sensory deprivation strips the distractions and lets me meditate with such ease, and float away being free with my thoughts. Some of my most personally profound revelations and thoughts came from my short time in those tanks. If I were rich I would have one of these in my house, I wish I had easier access to one. For me they'd be perfect primers or channeling experiences for releasing and focusing my creativity.

I've done it 3 times here in Southern California. The first time was by far the most "eventful" if that's the right word? Pod looked almost exactly the same with the lights and music that could be toggled on and off. I eventually turned them off and relaxed. Eventually, I started seeing neon electricity of like blue and green at the edges of my peripheral vision. After that, it turned to almost like neon smoke but wasn't in my peripheral anymore, it was just front and center. The neon smoke which was mostly purple or green would compress and get sucked into like a flashpoint of light at the peripheral edges of my vision (like how starships typically are shown going to warp or hyperspace or whatever with that burst of light at a single small point). The biggest thing I remember is that once I got out, my body looked so alien to me. Part of it was definitely the shininess/sliminess look you get right after coming out but I distinctly remember looking at my hand and literally thinking, "wait.. are humans supposed to have 5 fingers?". After I dressed and got out and showered, everything outside was just so vibrant and bright.. from the street lights to headlights, reflections, etc. After I slept that night and woke up the next day, it was back to normal.

I did this for my birthday and honestly I do not care to do it again. It was like a small salty tub to float in and the salt stung my eyes a bit. I did not get superpowers or was enlighten in away which was disappointing cause of all the hype around theses pods. Note; I’m naturally a very relaxed person to begin with, and my one of my favorite things to do in any body of water is too float! What would of been really cool would’ve been to NOT be able to touch any of edges and just float freely and infinitely. I think it’s great experience for people who need to relax and have a hard time doing that. I also think it would be great for couples to experience together.
