I encourage Tracy to consider what "I wear it" means. Has she worn it in the last year, did she wear it last Fall/Winter or Spring/Summer? She has way too many clothes to actually be wearing them all each season. There just aren't that many days per clothes 😊

Tracy what great progress you have made. A lot of people think decluttering is to become a minimalist and that is just not true for everyone. Decluttering to me is to get my house to where I am happy with it and I can manage the contents. Keep on going. April you are so good at helping people and encouraging them without being judgmental about what they want to keep. A good example to me is the puffy coats. Tracy does have quite a few but now that she has them in one spot and can see what she has it definitely will help stop buying more. Love the video.

I am very minimal with my clothes, but I love this series with Tracy. She has decluttered a fair chunk of her stuff, and if she loves the rest of it and wants to keep it then that's great. It's realistic that part of 'making space' is trying to wrangle and organise collections like this so the person involved can enjoy what they have and not buy duplicates. I'm sure it will be beneficial to Tracy and will 'make space' in her mind as well as her home.

April has the patience of a saint here. On the other hand, especially when you have such a strong emotional connection to your things, starting "just" organizing is a big step. If she can keep this system she will see of what she has too much over time. And then she can declutter some more. I guess it's like loosing weight - and then maintining that weight and new habits. Then go on again. Still, some tough love can be helpful from time to time 😅

Absolutely the same! Dani is like the gold standard of getting your stuff in order, she inspires me so much!! Tracy is doing so so much better though and I can see she is working hard to let stuff go but I worry that the great unhoard might be just another way of holding onto things. I’m only 5 minutes in so fingers crossed!!!
@pk5194
@pk5194 День назад
To be honest, last episodes with Dani were quite boring, she is easy to let go clothes (esp it is easy if they simply doesn't fit her size anymore) but didn't get rid of much in the kitchen (stuff he likes). This is the same type of hoarding, just different category of things. Tracy wears her stuff but does Dani use all her Starbucks mug collection? I doubt it. I personally would suffocate and never cook in the cluttered (even after decluttering) kitchen like hers :( And also, I think it is much worse to hold things and never use it, eg like makeup collection they throw away with Dani. Wasted money, wasted product, took away from someone who could use and enjoy it. But we all have our lessons. It's good that she came to her senses now with April, but if you have looked at Dani before, you might criticize just the same. So let's not judge Tracey too hard, it is just the beginning of her journey, we never know how she will be in few years. Both ladies are at different points of their awareness, and kudos to April to show both ways!

Seeing how the organizational system Tracy has been living with for a while broke down, and then tweaking things to fix those issues is so helpful. Nothing is perfect the first time around. Getting organized and staying that way has to be found by experimenting to see what works for all of us.

I am definitely on the spectrum of "clothes attachment" and love to express my creativity through funky clothes, however, at age 67 and being overweight my options are limited! lol! Creative minds are cursed/blessed with an abundance of child like enthusiasm for color and unique styles! The world needs all the Tracy's....as well as the April's to harness us in once in a while. I personally, have implemented the "container" method. Telling myself that the universe has limited my space for a reason...gently revealing to me where my personality has a tendency to lead me to overload and overwhelm. I totally get you Tracy...just keep plugging away and you will experience the freedom of less stuff to manage. Our creative brains were never meant to handle so much inventory! ❤❤❤ * I think labels on the outside of the closet doors would also be a big help, especially when you are in the beginning phase of learning a new approach to being organized. My Mom is notorious for emptying my dishwasher and putting items in random drawers and cabinets! LOL! 😆😆💕💕💕

Tracy is doing great and i really hope she can keep the momentum up. I have watched a few channels of recovering hoarders and it really is a long process. Churning the hoard, indecision, lots of emotions and organising the chaos before things start to move out of the home in a big way. Her posture seems different at the end of the video than it was at the start, you could see the relief in getting some order back. It will be hard work but please keep going 💪🏻

Love your series! Much progress being made. I too love clothes..and yarn..and fabric.. and books..and...lol. getting them organized after decluttering is a huge help. You are so good at helping her. I am in process of downsizing after being in my home 41 years. It's a work in progress for sure. I have given my girls things and donated lots. Don't want to leave my girls a mess to go through. We are all different and have different interests and attachments to our stuff. I know the season of life I am in that I am changing my perspective on things. Thatsock pile is amazing! I once years ago hada sock matching party with a friend. We had her children and mine helping..had snacks and celebrated wen done. It amazes me how mismatches turn up! 😊😂❤

For me, I've found I have to set the space that X will occupy and keep only that amount. I have to release something to bring something new in . Also, EVERYTHING has a space it belongs. This works for me. My point? Each of us will have to try and id the system that works for each of us based on our personalities and the constraints we're working in.

April has truly changed Tracy's life by helping her declutter and organize her clothing. Look at all the progress that's been made since the beginning! My only concern is The Great Unhoard project and if that will have the same amount of progress without April's assistance.

Question: Come next winter season, will Tracy have the skill set and discipline to do the opposite organization? In order to keep things under control, she'll need to swap out all the summer stuff with all the winter stuff. I could things going back the way they were when seasons change. Maybe April will be able to do a seasonal checkin! 😊

The sock block😆 I'm watching your videos with Tracy and Dani over and over again, they are so wholesome and fun🥰 To me, Tracys love for clothes is so relatable. Each piece has its own story and a persona that evolves around it - they just tell stories and bring joy❤ April, the way you work with Tracy on her home is so helpful for me too! I'm not willing to let go of most of my stuff (I did it once and regretted it later), and even though I'm quite organized already I still learn so much by watching this series😊

Started declutting and moving things around in my kitchen, having 2 of my adult kids and one of their boyfriends living at home with me, some things don't work good for them, so changing things so they are more willing to put them in the right place, and at same time thought I should get rid of things I no longer need or I've replaced them with something better. As I've always had a hard time letting go of things, it is slow, I just work on one area at a time, doing that in all the rooms, we are wanting to m9ve within a year, so I like to get this all done before we move, so I'm not taking things I don't need or want.

Knowing where she started, this is phenomenal. I’m so happy for her. The bedroom even seems more calm after getting out the janky closet system and moving the bed. Yes she has a lot still, but now that she can truly see what she has, she can be more aware of what she is and isn’t wearing. Suggestion: You might change all her hanging clothes hangers to face the other way. As she wears something and puts it back, put the hanger the “normal” direction. Then once the season is up, she can see what she didn’t wear and decide if she needs to keep it before storing it. When she gets the next seasons stuff out, repeat the process. Also, please don’t forget to go through the stuff on both her doors as it looks like accessories and maybe can be hung in a better way. Also, how them shoes doing? 😊

@pamelawantsmusic

They are under the bed because it’s off season storage - she will swap the summer out of the closets in the fall and the winter stuff will occupy the wardrobes and be easy to access during the cold months. The summer stuff will go under the bed until the seasons change again. April would never ask someone to store coats they want to access daily deep under their beds! 😂

I love that Tracy def has her own style. But maybe for the future it would be good to think about the environment. The overconsumption is what gets me 😢 You can have less and still be stylish. Actually you can purchase better quality items that are 100% your style for a bit higher cost. I know she has collected stuff for years but still the sock thing and puffer collection is madness

I live in a small studio in NYC and I find that the large flat (5" tall?) plastic underbed storage boxes work the best for hard wood floors because you can wipe them down. I double stack them. If you get a tall bed with 14" clearance, they go a long way.

I realize that April has helped Tracy declutter quite a bit, but honestly, with all her closets, if she's still having trouble putting things back, then that's a sign she still has more clothes than she has room for. Going forward, sorting everything into categories should help her a great deal to get even more decluttered. If she can see at a glance all of her x category right in front of her, then she doesn't have to guess if she has enough or too much x. It should be obvious, and she can take action on one category at a time. Adding that it's hard for me to relate to the "need" to find room for this much clothes. Everything I and my husband have, together, would easily fit into just one of the closet units Tracy has.

What a transformation! You both worked hard, good job! Last year with my mother we went to a color consultation. We had a fantastic time and realized we are both attracted to the Autumn palette items, but we are clear springs! It really helped me declutter my closet from the items I loved to look at but would never wear, and now I shop with my little book of samples with my best colors as a guide. It makes a huge difference!

It's tough getting rid of your stuff!! It was hard for me to let go of my stuff but I had no choice. My husband has way too much stuff and refuses to let anything go. My husband doesn't shred his papers either. We just moved into a small house that only has three yes three very small closets. There's no other storage in the house. So I had to downsize my belongings because my home looked very crowded and messy. I even shredded a lot of my papers. I donated a lot of clothes that I wasn't wearing or didn't fit right. It wasn't easy. Now I'm planning on moving so downsizing has helped me to prepare for this future move. Tracey will donate more of her stuff when she's ready. At least she is organizing everything so it's easier for her to find her belongings. When you said "How do you feel about the amount of space in your closet?" Tracey laughed.

Great job! We are all individuals and too much for one person is just right for another. If we have space to safely use our rooms and enjoy the people and things in our lives then it’s okay. I hope Tracy is able to find a balance where she feels less overwhelmed however if she always needs support and help with this, that’s okay too. We don’t have to cope by ourselves. It’s okay to lean on others for support. Hugs. 😊❤🐦

Maybe Tracy can manage the clutter and over spending on clothes by thinking that a decluttered house is a better life for her pets,so they can actually move in the apartment , not breathe dusty air and live in a house without the potential of a fire accident. The plants also will enjoy a dust free home.
