@@stephencooper3583 but from what i can say about android 15 is that all it's coming with is random cosmetic changes and thats it nothing new to be expected. I do have hopes from one UI and galaxy's own Al features coming to lesser devices but from what i have come across it's not significant.
@@parmo_dharm ... yeah, from what I've seen so far, OneUI 7 will be pretty tame as well. The IOS update is the biggest of the three, by far. But like you said, nothing official came out yet. OneUI 7 might still have some surprises.
When a company like Xiaomi makes over 150 phones per year each running a slightly different Ui there's bound to be some overlap in design. The fact that you had to go back 6-7 years means everything on Android is pretty old.
@@jevonsims900 what???? 1. They don't run slightly different ui, how good it will be if that were the case 😅 And no, I am not talking about the normal miui theme.. That looks okay, and it is actually maybe a cheap second copy of iOS in the first place. What I am talking about are about some ugly themes and icon packs with strong colors, 0 contrast etc that made a rappers body filled with tattoo a tastefully art piece. And what even are you talking about in the second point? The fact that I have to go 6-7 years back means android is old? Yes android is like 15+ years old... And latest IOS customization makes it look like the worst of design made 8 years ago by some teen....
Android has the customization colors pre determined mainly because of contrast. The whole point of Material You is to give the users freedom to choose themes and colors, but keeping the entire system UI coherent and accessible, so that every text/icon is readable. That's why Android doesn't have a color and saturation slider. Apple decided to add this feature by giving the user the slider, which is a very lazy way of implementing customization.
Material you theming in Android isn't superficial, just the icons. You can see wallpaper colour changing in the entire system and within an app. For example gboard.
The default pastel colors are the main design flaw most people complain about concerning Material You. Having a red and black theme ends up as black and pastel pink.
Highly disagree. I think the color sliders are great and perhaps google should include them too on top of what they have. Customization and controls are always a nice thing to have. Maybe they don't speak much to you, but for me, it's a great thing to have.
@@panathatube it isn't just that. Material u is theming option that even change third party apps. You can change all color palette in many apps but ios even does have theme
What android needs to do is encourage developers so android apps look as polished and receive the latest updates sooner. Cause as of now most iOS apps look more polished and get the latest features earlier. Tested this on my S24 ultra and 15 pro max
Yep. Not even just third party apps. Polish across the board. Android bad always felt like a very unpolished OS. Almost like an iOS beta at times. The apps look and feel worse and the general feel of the OS is just less smooth. I know that Reddit and RU-vid don’t seem to understand this, but polish and general feel matter a lot to the average person
iOS has always been better for apps than Android, because it’s one company with one phone and one eco system which allows for easier programming, but for Android is harder because theres literally hundreds and hundreds of 3rd party phones that uses Android OS thus making it hard for devs to ensure their software works well on any phone that uses Android OS.
I have an iphone 14 pro max and a pixel 6 pro and while i love the UI and notifications and keyboard on android , third party apps are far less stable than on IOS, frankly i feel its not an operating system issue but lack of effort or time, the google specific apps are great third party apps less so.
Android is getting more intuitive despite all of the personalization functions... It seems iOS just gave a ton of features just like "Take, you've got cool features, now manage with them"
I've stumbled accross your channel yesterday, it's quite refreshing to see actuall comparisons done right, instead of the same stuff related to the most marketed features. Keep up the great work
@@-ThatGuy-if you have an iPhone with the action button, have a look at “button to search” here on YT. It’s a very clever shortcut for google lens that works similarly, I’m using it and it’s great.
@@andyH_England circle to search definitely cannot be used on iOS. Google lens on iPhone is a less convenient and slower method of achievement the same result
Just a correction, You can go to the Storage section in iOS and there you can see the space taken by any app and there is an OFFLOAD APP button under every app to offload it manually as well.
@@Joshflemin Not sure man, I too have a 15 PM and I also switched from android. As a software developer, I got it out of curiosity to check iOS out as well.
@@pulkitkumawat1674 are you happy with the 15pm? a fellow software dev here and wanting to switch from poco... i would love to hear your opinions. especially the lack of clipboard and a (real) file system makes me think a lot about whether i should switch or not.
Amazing comparison, thanks! It would be great, if you could do the same one with Samsung OneUi vs iOS 18, after Samsung makes a release of version 7 (I believe it should happen any time soon).
@@rolins3279 I have had pixels and OnePlus and Samsungs and only the Samsungs lag (not in scrolling but generally). I have not had a pixel lag on me. In fact, in day to day use the snappiness was what made me switch over from my OnePlus. And it's not empty, it's got features that people don't know and google doesn't advertise but are useful on everyday tasks, like being able to select a text or save an image from anything at all, being able to glance at your notifications when it recognizes your face without unlocking it, being able to tell what music's being played, being able to use awesome text to speech when your hands are busy, being able to control your whole phone from your eyes and voice if you're not able to touch it, being able to say "snooze" or "answer" etc during calls or alarms from across the room, being able to tap the back for actions, being able to glance at your parcels delivery when it's arriving, being able to see the traffic status whenever I'm leaving home or work, being able to rely on a great camera whenever I want to capture a memory and a whole lot more. And the thing is my 2.5 year old pixel 6 gets most features some time after they're introduced to flagships later on (and without paying for an active subscription 🤣). I know one UI has got way more features on paper, but (at least to me) the pixel ones are the ones I use almost daily and take for granted, and when I use any other phone I'm reminded of them.
The hiding apps feature on Android is perfect for me. I pretty much use it like 2 different phones. I am on Samsung though but same use case. It was single-handedly one of the few features that made it that I could never use stock Android with the pixels
I use the same. My major issue with iOS is the basic stuff. Notifications are so much better on Android, keyboard still has no numbers row, gesture navigation is great on Android. I also don't like that you need to buy a pro version to get 120hz and always on display and the pro-chip. It just seems like Samsung gives you so much more for less money.
@@hhhmmmmmmmm you're absolutely right, there are so many things that still making me use my Galaxy as my daily phone but at the same time apple does their stuff in "apple way" which makes everything work quite refined and i also enjoy that. But yes as i said my Android is the one i always carry around
@@alibaimani1341 for me, reminders in calendar is great. For some reason Siri loves the words "remind me" n always works for that. The voice recorder transcription is also needed. That's what's so baffling about Apple, they create math notes which is amazing, but no numbers row or a pop-up calculator.
IOS 18 beta is looking sooo good. Apple is more visually appealing to me in IOS 18. Animations look good too! Also widgets look SO MUCH BETTER on IOS. Apps in general too.
As a long term ios user I have to disagree. Ios is a mess even ios 18. Not as user friendly as your think it's a mess which is why I'm leaving it for android with the new pixel phones. I don't think I'll ever get another iPhone again.
@@illbet4589 i just think android is easier to navigate and when they release updates it's genuenly to make someone's life that bit easier. Ios do regular weekly updates but they're very minute changes. It doesn't even have a split screen which is annoying. It went downhill for me after ios 16. Also their stock apps are appalling. Mail I don't even get notifications I've even changed it on the settings and their maps is unusable for navigation since it's not synced to the device properly and at times takes you to the wrong location. I don't think they listen to their customers as much as android does.
Interesting, because many seem to say Samsung is better. But people being emotional about it, it’s hard to know. (Plus it’s subjective anyway.) I’m an iPhone user and I’m genuinely trying to see if it’s still a good choice today (which it seems it is).
When Pixel 9 series come out on the 13th of August, the Google AI features would make iOS look like child's play. Plus, most of the Apple AI features used in this video won't debut this year. When this comparison is done again, it will be an easy win for Android.
@@derrick_ofori I highly doubt that. The AI features that have been rumoured so far for android have not been anything spectacular. The iOS features while not released yet feel a lot promising and are actually helpful features not just gimmicks
@@aarchiiee Well, ATM, we know very little of what "Pixie" is going to be on the new Pixels. Also, even if we supposed that your assertion were true, we'd at least have those features of the Pixel in August as opposed to having very few or none of the AI features Apple mentioned that were used in this comparison. My point is, the comparison should have been based on what is available now, not on not-to-be-delivered-soon future promises. Moreover, ChatGPT isn't a part of "Apple Intelligence" (It's only an admission on Apple's part that their AI isn't as powerful as Gemini) why count that as a feature for Apple iOS when it's not even exclusive to it?
Apple cunningly announces that their Apple Intelligence isn't powerful enough, so they'd be outsourcing all the heavy liftings to ChatGPT- which although easily accessible on, but not exclusive to iOS nor Apple Intelligence - suddenly everyone is bumped about it pinning it ChatGPT as an Apple feature against Gemini. Really? In that case, Google Search has been the default search on Apple for the longest time, is that a feature of iOS as well? As we speak, ChatGPT is a tile in "control centre" on my Android phone, making it easier to use to some extent.
As someone who used iOS up till the iPhone X and only recently switched back a couple weeks ago. This is exactly it. iOS is just a pleasure to use. The UI just looks and feels nice. And for most people iOS has already had the important features for a while now.
@@left4deadR You don’t have to be a sheep to appreciate and know the reason so many people still buy iPhones. In most cases that people I sold iPhones to it was largely cause they had poor experiences on android either recently or at some point. And iOS is known for largely just working without too much fuss. On top of that the way Apple designs its UI and animations is very appealing. It makes the phone feel smooth even on 60hz models. Android needs 120hz to feel smooth in my experience. And to add to that just because someone doesn’t agree with you on a subjective preference doesn’t mean they’re a sheep. I could call a lot of Android (Especially Samsung and Google phones) and Apple users sheep by your logic. There are obviously the hyper fans in all groups that will never accept a fault in their favorite brand’s products, but Apple users aren’t want worse than Samsung or Pixel users in this regard. They’re all annoying idiots. lol
If it’s a comparison test award your points to the best device with current useful good featured they have now not the ones promised to come through an update later.
A lot of those exclusive features you mentioned are already on my android 14. The screen recording for example, the vibration too and the volume 🧐🤨. Google pixel 6 pro
The UI on iOS is very well-polished and organized, unlike Android, which can feel a bit cluttered and inconsistent. I really like the Meca Blur effect on iOS, while Material U on Android comes across as overly complex and somewhat incomplete Android’s UI offers a fast and streamlined experience, with a smart navigation system that’s very easy to use with one hand, which is the opposite of iOS. Moreover, Android provides several helpful features that make tasks easier, like the clipboard function on the keyboard...
Fair detailed "new" update comparison. That's what people should take away from these comparisons and remember they aren't generally about general abilities and features.
As an ios and google user. I have to say ios 18 brings so much to ios that is a lil overwhelming. Now android 15 is more like android 14.1-14.5 nothing. In this update you hace to look for the new things. Nothing new to wow me. My big hope is the feature drops or galaxy with one ui 7.0
Because android already have all those. In 18th Gen apple mostly added a lot of basic stuffs. Now users are feeling that they got a lot of things. In android google changed it in 12. You cannot expect major changes every year. In iOS lat major overhaul was done in iOS 7 if I'm not wrong.
@@Gelembfi it's hurting apple only. They can't code ai, search engines, map There's not a single feature of iphone that's not in android. Android is miles ahead in terms of features. Apple brought widgets this year which Android had since a decade. We are levels ahead my dear kiddo
I like your comparison, but, a better option would be to compare it against one ui instead of pixel os, as pixel os is the least feature rich os in all of android
@@abdullahbinshahid3199 yeah but when he says "android" doesn't have certain feature it just goes out as Android as a whole doesn't have it but that's not the case.
@@craz7644I honestly don't think Samsung wants Android as their brand. One UI is what they push, Pixel is the only phone that tags their software Android X, instead of One UI X with Android X. So when he says Android he's referring to the default Pixel software, if he said it wasn't available on One UI that would have been another topic.
16:59 I wouldn't say it's the same, iOS allows to change the limit value which is much more handy. I prefer a limit of 85/90% instead of the 80% with no possibility of change.
The only thing I don't like is that you are saying "vs Android" but in reality it's vs Stock Android because Samsung One UI have more feature rich compared to stock OS.
But still not copying the back gesture implementation. It's underratedly the best android feature And all the places where iOS was better than stock android, oneUI had that years prior and also did it better than both. I truly wished iOS 18 was compared to oneUI 😂
@@ifrankenstein7455 technically everything. Like the control panel, all the app icons and glyphs icons across the system, the weather app, the system widgets, and the whole app designs of almost all the system apps
@@brunosco Well, thankyou for asking, allow me to explain. With any Apple device, you are dependant on their servers to form a connection be it IOS, IpadOS or MacOS. This means that once ur device is no longer supported by their servers, it basically bricks your machine. Android doesnt have this issue because you can jst download a alternate 3rd party launcher for ur device once its no longer getting updates, so aslong as you can still use wifi, you can use the device for most things. Hence the android being Your phone for as long as you want, and the iPhone being Apples for as long as they want.
@@watchout5508 Thanks for taking the time to explain, I had never really thought about that. Now I remember that for each newly acquired apple device (iPhone, at least), you need to register it to activate it. Is that it? But in practice, it’s been many years since myself and people around me have been using Apple devices, and it never happened that any device was bricked. On the other hand, they are all using the Find My feature, which can help find them back, or remotely erase the content and brick the device if it has been stolen, which not only protects our data, but also is a deterrent for thieves (at least in theory).
@@watchout5508 You don't sound like you've ever used any iOS devices. None of that is true. Also, even after the 5-7 years of feature updates, iPhones continue to get security updates for years. You also have an easy to use scripting language in the Shortcuts app. You can write programs on the iPhone to do all kinds of things. I have a script that turns off all my lights and makes sure the doors are locked when no one's home. Another to turn the lights on when I get home but only after the sun has set. A script to scan a document and OCR it then save the text as an editable document. One to split PDFs into individual pages and another to combine documents into a large PDF. My morning routine script plays after I turn off my alarm and tells me the current local weather, the weather forecast for the day, my calendar events for today and tomorrow then plays the local news' podcast of current events. The list of scripts goes on and on. iPhones are great for power users and can easily be customized for MY use. There's more to customizing a phone than just changing wallpapers and icons and silliness like that. I also have an Android phone and it's not as good at this stuff as the iPhone is. You can use Tasker to do some of what I listed above but it's not built into the OS and it's much harder to use.
I would say that it would be better if android and iOS focus on actually improving RCS chat conversation for at least a year until it is flawless between the two and maybe one or two other updates on their software but they should focus more on the RCS matter.
As a long term Samsung user who just ordered his 1st ever Pixel. Some of the features you knocked Google for not having are available on Samsung. This is why it's difficult compare IOS to Android. It must be IOS to, what ever specific Android phone you're comparing, not Android as a whole because there's so many options.
I absolutely love Google pixel software but their hardware loss me as a customer. I returned to Apple iPhone simply for reliability. iOS is so restricting but I can make a phone call. I’m looking forward to iOS 18.
While iOS control centre might offer more I still find Android's version less cluttered and I can make more sense of it. I think Apple have gone a bit wild with the choices but it's not as orderly as Android...
This is why app developers focuses on ios because they don't want android to mess their apps with such customizations. I am no fan of both I only use what is available on my budget but I have both iphone and android. As long as it is a phone that can run social media apps, games and messaging apps I don't care what to use
It’s really Annoying that u guys say android is better and this and that and that these company’s did it first but iOS has been the industry for years and people need to accept that went iOS does features better than android. It’s the truth.
Please do a video on google messages vs whatsapp vs imessage, if possible, highlighting their unique features.. And also how a chromebook fits in a google ecosystem. Wonderful videos btw 🙂
So let me get this right? Side load apps from unknown developers that have shitty apps not approved that can compromise the entire OS so that makes Android better ? Got it

Android looks like a rookie developer was given the keys to do what they want. iOS looks like a professional developer took the OS serious and took his Time to make something look and act beautifully. Its just annoying to me that android has much better features, but the design is way too clumsy, no attention to detail, way to playfull design and animations and its wierd colours and unserious icons.
