sometimes I forget that youtubers (and anyone else who films anything) have to actually film their videos and it takes a lot of time. when you're just watching the video it's so easy to forget how much goes behind it. the editing makes it feel flawless and effortless, when in reality it does take a lot of effort, and it's something some people don't appreciate enough

Some In-N-Out history nobody asked for: In-N-Out Burger's first location was opened in the Los Angeles suburb of Baldwin Park by Esther and Harry Snyder in 1948. The restaurant was the first drive-thru hamburger stand in CA, allowing drivers to place orders via a two-way speaker system. This was a new and unique idea since in post-WWII CA, carhops were used to take orders and serve food. Like the McDonald brothers, they managed things closely to make sure quality was maintained. By the time Harry died in 1976, the chain had 18 restaurants. Their son Rich then became In-N-Out's president and within the next 20 years, they grew and grew, opening their 50th in 1988. Rich died in 1993, and his brother Guy continued this aggressive expansion. Guy died in 2000, and Esther would take over the presidency. That year they opened their first locations in Arizona and would open in Nevada in 2004. They opened their 200th location in December 2005, and Esther would die at age 86 in August 2006. More states have joined the In-N-Out movement like Oregon in 2015 and Texas in 2010. Since 2017, Lynsi Snyder (only grandchild of Esther and Harry) currently leads the company
@joealese
@joealese Год назад
they won't open a store in many states because they won't open a store more than 300 miles from a patty making plant. otherwise, they'd have to freeze the patties and they want them to stay as fresh as possible
@AskMiko
@AskMiko Год назад
The family’s plagued with drinking and personal turmoil makes the legacy of the brand ever so special. Lyndsi’s last interview was quite powerful. I appreciate how they aren’t letting corporate greed push them into opening massive locations sacrificing quality. I feel the family history is a testament of what can happen when you lose control. ❤

The gold standard fast food burger joint imo. And that's not just when it comes to the the food but the entire experience and operation as a whole. There's a good reason in n outs stay busy all day long. Their off hours are like other place's rush hours and their rush hours literally have cars backed up down the street waiting to order. And even then, they're still impressively fast, accurate, and just competent all around. Never understaffed or underprepared in any way. One of the most impressively run businesses I know of

You can caramelize onions perfectly in the oven. Dead serious. Cut them however, put them in a Pyrex pan, add butter, into a 350 oven until they’re done - until they are, stir every so often. You don’t have to babysit a hot pan.
@LilMrsAnime

@@LilMrsAnime AWESOME!! you will not regret it!! I did it the first time on thanksgiving with all the aromatics I was putting into my dressing: onion, shallot, leeks & then the celery & carrot to sweat & brown them at the end. Also: if you have a lot of cutting/chopping to do, I highly recommend using a mandolin. Both those methods cut at least two hours - if not three - off my prep that day. I will never go back lol. & since we are now on the subject of thanksgiving, I would LOVE to see David do Quang Tran’s SPATCHCOCKED TURKEY. I did it the same thanksgiving & it was out of this world! I’ve never made a more juicy & delicious turkey in my life! & I guess since I’m making rec’s - I would love to see David try TOBIAS YOUNG’s baked mac & cheese. It’s absolute insanity but it’s also the best mac & cheese I’ve ever made!

my issue with Joshua's is that it's almost nothing like an in n out burger. they don't out caramelized onions in the sauce, they don't grill the onion unless you ask for it, they use American cheese and they fry one side in mustard if you get it animal style which i assume is what he was recreating which is why he uses caramelized onions. I'm sure it's delicious but just call it a double cheeseburger, not an in n out burger

It's literally just "caramelize onions for 45 minutes, whip up sauce in a minute or so using pantry staples, grind meat, form smash burgers, melt cheese, toast buns, and assemble." Is he counting all of the resting time for freezing his steaks?

I love Joshua’s bun recipe! It’s my go-to for making them, especially in the summer when we cook on the grill. Have tried making his everything bagels? I literally keep almost everything weighed out in a 4-cup screw-top Ziplock container (except the yeast) ready to go. I even have the ingredient weights and instructions written on the side of it. As my dough mixes, I weigh out the next batch. They’re great for breakfast sandwiches.

"My buns are looking absolutely incredible." *That's what he said!* You may think six hours for a double cheeseburger is crazy, but that's just how long I always take to create the perfect burger. As a burger connoisseur, I've tasted different kinds of recipes from all around the world, the fast-food joints at my palace's food court, as well as the recipe passed down from my father, and the result is six hours in the making that includes making the brioche buns, mixing and melting the perfect cheeses, crafting the perfect chimichurri, fried quail egg, and using A5 wagyu infused with white truffle butter. It takes a lot of effort, but definitely doable for a champ like me

I've tested many of Joshua Weissman's recipe's, including this one. It was a very good burger, but I have to say I've had/made better (Though I have to admit I took a few pages from his cookbook to Frankenstein my favorite burger). As far as best Joshua recipe I've tested? That's a toss up between the Arby's Beef N' Cheddar, and the Taco Bell Quesarito. The latter was a collab I did with my neighbor, and he keeps telling me we NEED to do that one again! I keep suggesting other Weissman recipe's to try, but he keeps circling back to the Quesarito! I digress, bottom line, it's a VERY good burger, and I encourage burger enthusiasts reading this comment to give it a try.

I do think it isn't the best when you talk about how Alvin doesn't answer your messages in videos where you make his food. It paints him in a kind of bad light and even though you're probably only doing it so he answers, it feels more like a passive aggressive callout and especially as you're not a small youtuber anymore, you're important to alot of people. A good number of people could start to dislike Alvin because of seemingly harmless comments and a fewer number of them could send him negative messages. Hope you consider.
