if it makes you feel any better, I personally really enjoy seeing very simple recipes because it's something I can easily do at home. When there's a lot going on I tend to think ''why go through all the effort?'' no matter how good it may seem, but something like crushing some doritos and putting them on a grilled cheese? That's something I can do
The Bloody Mary lost me at 4 oz. of vodka. The Long Island Iced Tea, which is a famously booy cocktail pushes it with 3.5 ounces, 4 ounces is actually absurd, that's what you make for two servings.
Yes it is normal to serve two servings of a drink in one glass and you just know to drink it over twice the amount of time as you would one. Many people have 2 drinks over the course of one event 😊
I approve of including more simple recipes in all of the videos!! Because if they turn out good, many people could share those recipes and include them in their daily rotation! Most of the lunches I bring to my university came from silly ticktock😂😂
Use a thick hot sauce instead of bbq for the taco shell. I prefer Valantino hot sauce imported from Mexico. It's my absolute favorite hot sauce. I buy it by the quart bottle.
That grilled cheese looks so good. I think you have a good start on the taco shells but your right BBQ sauce is an odd choice. Maybe burrito sauce or enchilada sauce would work better as a flavor profile. Either way keep on going David! Fun fact Doritos were first made at Disneyland.
So happy to have you back, David! I am loving your videos and how you present yourself on camera. I have to stay through you outro too cause that song is way to good to miss!
Honestly, if I was going to do anything like the taco one, I would just make it as a taco salad and crumble the doritos over the top instead of using tortilla chips. Which... sounds really good, I might do that sometime
For the taco, I'd probably use either a very light layer of melted butter or red enchilada sauce if I felt like a bit of a kick. BBQ sauce just does not belong in that recipe at all.
I love your videos and enjoy complicated and simple videos. i agree that you should also try to make those simple but wacky recipes like thay grill cheese.
That bloody Mary may have been a little better with half of the vodka and the doritos ground down into a powder like the spices that way the sediment wouldn't be as bad nor as vodka forward. Been watching you since the beginning.
“it was on sale” if I saw an irrationally large jar of good salsa on sale I’d buy it too XD you can use it in so many things and just eat it too! I miss making salsa at home but I just can’t do it at uni… gotta make some over break for sure
Unfortunately, the texture of pickled pork skin in unpredictable 😩 I grew up eating them chopped up with salt, lime, cilantro, & tomato but you just never know if you're gonna get squishy or crunchy ones. Doesn't stop me from buying them, tho lol
In all my years in the southwest with majority Mexican friends and going to raspados shops, gummy bears do not belong in dorilocos or tostilocos or the pork rind….its literally just supposed to be taco salad in a bag, idk where you got that recipe but it seems like a joke for white people to try lol
Hi! Californian Mexican here 😊 Our version of the dorilocos/tostilocos has cucumber, jicama, chamoy, lime, picked pork skin (hit or miss since the texture is inconsistent 😩), and Japanese peanuts. I've heard of Texas' walking tacos, but it's not a thing here. Would 100% try it, tho! ETA: Found out the version of Tostilocos I know originated in Tijuana, which makes sense as to why it's so popular in California.
When did the "adding Doritos to everything" trend start? I really can't remember but the fact that it's actually in mainstream company packaging as well, like Kraft mac and cheese with Doritos is funny to me.
I don't understand the logic behind the bbq sauce when taco sauce or enchilada sauce is a thing you can buy. And which flavor profile will align with tacos. IDK. That logic fail fills me with distrust for the recipe, even the rest is just "follow the Old El Paso" directions lol
not on IG. so here's mine! "Gas Station Special!" (Or, for the 'Walmart Special', which serves 2-3, use a full-sized 14oz bag of chips and double everything else) Needs: -Nacho Doritos (the "extreme flavor" ones are best for this, as the flavor will be subsumed otherwise!) the bigger "individual" bags are perfect (used to be around 8oz I think?) -1 [spicy] pickle (individually wrapped with juice available at most convenience stores) -1-2 [spicey] sausage snack stick(s) (3-6oz, pork, beef, or turkey are all fine! I haven't tried vegan options): pick something that doesn't have a tough skin (so no slim-jims) but is generally firm and flavorful, and some grease is a plus, as it'll be absorbed later! -1 can Cheddar Easy Cheese or 1 jar Queso Dip/Cheese Whiz (about 4-8oz will be used) - salt and pepper to avoid unnecessary dishes, you can make this entirely in the dorito bag by just opening the side, or the top and side, like a walking taco would be; except for a cutting surface, which can be disposable, since nothing here needs a super sharp knife: you can make this with nothing but a butter knife, or even a spoon! Recipe: -Coarse Crush the doritos -chop or dice the pickles and sausage (I like a half inch chunk, but you can mince as tiny as relish if you want to, or mix them up! being "sloppy" adds to it!) -mix them in the dorito bag thoroughly -add pickle juice a bit at a time, mixing as you go, until you get a "damp mash" that will stick together and loosely hold it's shape when formed, but is NOT a wet mush! (about like you'd want your corn meal to make tortillas, or a touch drier) -mix in pepper to taste (salt may be needed too, shockingly enough) -form into a log-like shape in the bag, wrap it up in a towel, and let it sit someplace cool, dry, and airy for an hour minimum (if you let it sit too long and it gets too dry, just add more pickle juice!). Trust me, this thing is almost well preserved and salty enough to take it to sea in ye olden tymes! right before eating, slather in your cheese sauce of choice and enjoy! other dips are nice too! And a big beverage will be needed, plus make sure to hydrate extra well for a few hours after; it's a LOT of Salt here! TIPS: If you make it a bit too wet, just let it sit longer to ruminate, letting the excess evaporate. you can actually make it better by deliberately doing this, and letting it sit overnight, or even 24hrs, until it's to the preferred dryness, getting more of the pickle juice taste in there! -you can also make this a bit too wet before baking or frying them like dumplings, for a totally different exp!
Ahhhh! I’m so glad you did the Dorilocos! Excuse me while I share the shoutout with my entire family. P.S. I respect your bravery in trying the pickled pork. I’ve never been a big fan, myself. 🫡
