Can the new Chrome Tour X from Callaway beat the Pro V1 in ball speed and wedge spin? I flew to ECPC in Carlsbad to test these balls and was shocked at the results! Follow me on IG / holein1trickshots 15 % Off Rhoback!
I’ve extensively tested both balls. My ball speed is 165 w Tour X and 162 w ProV1 x. The chrome tour x spins about 300 RPM more than ProV1x so the net gain was negligible. However the additional spin helps keep the ball in the air longer especially in any kind of wind.
TItleist had a 172.8 ball and 121.8 swing speed. That is a 1.42 smash factor. Not trying to be a jerk, but those are massive mishits. This video doesn't show anything.
I was thinking the same. Callaway telling me their ball is better doing a test where they’ve probably hand picked the balls is dubious. Why not send the balls to someone like Rick shiels or Peter finch to test without the callaway guy stood there impacting proceedings. Plus we are going off what he reads, where’s the actual data?
I realize balls are expensive but in order for this BS to have even the thinnest slice of belief as an objective trial... send 2 doz of each down the fairway and let's see the grouping. A ball with 4 mph extra ballspeed isn't much good if it's in the trees, water or OB. The wobblesoft balls are famous for some pretty crazy ball flights. The 1st wobblesoft I ever hit was fun to watch. We found it, cut it open and found the core more the 1/4" off centered. The proshop got them back, refunded my $ and framed the cut ball. ProV1 and ProV1x don't have those issues
so i question the validity of this test. A. what are the shot shapes for these 6 shots. it seems like your swinging out of your shoes with the driver. B. on the wedges you could have shown the angle of attack to prove that the swings were as close a possible. These tests seem bias.
Why no spin and distance numbers with the driver comparison? Just because you have faster ball speed, doesn’t always equal more distance. That’s why I wish you would have posted spin and distance as well as club head and ball speed.
Because like I found the CTX spins about 300 RPM more negating the ball speed. With his speed that spin rate is likely even more than the 300 RPM increase that at see at 165 ball speed
This is just a Callaway advertisement. Nothing more. At a minimum you’d need to know the strike location was on average the same for the two golf balls, and that’s never discussed.
Don't you gain about 2-3 mph of ball speed for every mph of clubhead speed. If that's right then the drivers were pretty close. Curious to know the impact locations?
By that math 100 mph club speed would generate 200-300 MPH ball speed 😅. It’s roughly 1.5 MPH per 1 MPH Club Speed. I averaged 1.3 MPH faster with Chrome Tour so just under 2 MPH if everything was equal. I saw an increase of 5 MPH so Chrome Tour for me was just over 3 MPH faster apples to apples
As soon as you said to make it fair as possible, that you should’ve never had known what balls you were hitting, you should’ve blacked out the brand with a marker
The GC Quad doesn’t track the balls down range so after the first few fee it doesn’t matter where you’re hitting to. I wasn’t the only one testing and we only had a dozen Pro V1xs
pro v1x is now the higher spinning ball...this is not apples ......this is callaways harder less spinning ball............should be prov1 vs this ball...thats the head to head
Sponsored by callaway, saying callaway has the best ball, with callaway reps... They didn't really think this through did they? The information could be very well true, but has 0 credibility to the user
What a load of rubbish. There must be an embargo on 3rd party reviews of these balls for now. Not very encouraging when the first test on RU-vid is so blatantly in house (possibly biased, not sure). I will try the balls if they test well independently, but will still be massively concerned about durability (major problem with last gen balls) and consistency of manufacturing.
I was an average of 1.3 mph club speed faster with Chrome Tour X. That equates to let’s than 2 MPH ball speed. I gained over 5 MPH ball speed. So to be fair I picked up over 3 MPH apples to apples.
@joshkelleygolf I'd have to see the smash factor to buy that. You don't just gain 5 mph with a ball. I fit people every day and have yet to see a ball change that netted an average of 5 mph faster. Not to mention, my club speed is similar to yours 123-125 with the driver. My average ball with PROV1X, left dash, TP5X, and CS-LS are all within 1-3 mph of one another, and I'm getting 181 ball on average. Just saying.
@@bmos212 technically I gained 3 MPH. Also they have done this test 100s of times and have seen an increase each time. Try it yourself if you don’t believe me 🤷♂️
