honestly, mcdonalds making their own art supplies makes sense. could have sold them as toys in a happy meal. not in such capacity but like one or two colours per package or smaller quantities or something
A set of mini markers is another way they could have (or still could) put it into a Happy Meal toy. They could even do other small art/stationery type of sets to have a variety, such as mini stationery sheets or cards and envelopes, stamps, colored pencils, etc.
@@XMillyyX The envelopes would come with with cards/stationery paper. And the stamps would be like the self-inking kind you find in the party favor or holiday sections at stores that have a design you stamp onto paper.
I want to chime in, as a parent I LOVE the ikea acrylic paint, it is so easy to wash off of surfaces and adheres really well to paper. No cracking like tempera paint when there are too many layers or puddles. It also does not smell like soap! Crayola also makes washable poster paints, which are also very nice but they are super fragrant, I don't think it's intentional but makes me wonder if there really is soap in the paint. I was shocked about the price though, I don't know when we got ours but it was around $6, $1 per bottle.
Thank you, I was going to comment just that. If someone is looking for high quality art supplies I'd wonder why they go to the toddler section at IKEA. All IKEA art supplies are made for very young children who still put all the things in their mouth and therefore the stuff has to be non-toxic and washable etc. Also, I'm surprised that it's so expensive in the USA, here in Europe (Germany) they sell for only 3.99€ for the pencils which is a really cheap price
Fun fact: Starbucks went out of business in Brazil. Mostly because they charged 18 BRL (around $3.7) in a cup of coffee, where you can get a better one for half the price in "padarias", a traditional Brazilian type of shop. Basically, people went there to take pictures and never came back, they lost a ton of money, and went out. They brought a wave of coffee shops with them, with better and cheaper coffee, and a similar experience.

O que aconteceu com o Starbucks aqui foi criar uma onda de cafeterias que passassem essa vibe, onde a galera ia com notebook pra trabalhar, comer um brownie e tomar um café, mais caro que uma padaria mas que também não era um valor sem sentido como era o Starbucks. One thing I have learnt about developing economies - people there have an inherent sense of base price for something. If the value exceeds that, they will just make it at home and it will be better suited to their taste. because unlike us, they havent forgotten how to do basic things as individuals

You can have an decent cup of coffee for 2 BRL (about $0.4) in bakeries, or you can go to a local coffee shop and have a gourmet coffee for abou 10 BRL (a little over $2). Starbucks is something people here often see in TV shows and movies, so there was an curiosity, but the price was absurd.

Especially when they know what coffee should cost. You would be surprised at how many americans have no idea of what something should cost. They just ask for the price and pay. lol
I know the algorithm really pushes unboxing videos. But I love that you come up with your own unique twist on it - like weirdly branded art supplies. And I SUPERRAEDIZZLE love that you always create something with them in the end! As always, you create something beautiful even out of a bunch of crap.
I was around when all these products came out, but I never knew they existed. The sound of the ball inside the paint pens takes me way back to my childhood. Even though POSCA made them popular, I used to get mine in the Model kit area of a craft/art store, as I used to build models.

I'm not surprised the Adidas markers had the best quality. They were made for a specific purpose. The rest seemed like either novelty items or a quick way to cash in. Honestly, I would love to have either the McDonald's or the Coca-Cola supplies just hanging out on my shelf. The fry carton markers are adorable AF and the Coke cans of different mediums were a neat idea! Definitely a conversation starter.

I am so glad Rae found out about the McMarkers! I have been researching fast food art supplies, because it relates directly to my art style. And the McMarkers are just so cute and happy! I have the Scented version, not the Washable version, and all of my colors are intact and perfect after 30 years! I'd like to share that during also during 1994, Wendy's also released "Write & Sniff", scented markers, available in 5 colors/scents as kid's meal toys. Wendy's has actually done a few different iterations of art supplies as kid's meal toys. Chalk, paint, crayons, etc. And in both 1999 and 2000, Arby's released "Artbies" art supplies as toys in their kid's meals. Paint, stamps, modeling clay, etc.
The quality of the Coke watercolors didn't surprise me. Unless you got artist-grade supplies, watercolors back then were a chalky mess! And the little hairs stuck in them 😩 So true lol
In 4th grade me and my friends used to trade things and the top tier item was the fry markers. I remember trading a Spice Girls pencil pouch full of erasers to get the fry markers😂
Hullo Rae, I am always amazed at your prowess with the cheaper quality supplies! I have had to cut back on art supplies at times during my life and I never got the results that you are able to get! I am hoping it is just the aspect of the video making things look better on camera than they did for me in person! You create the best artworks from such lousy supplies, Well Done By You!
Posca was around and readably available long before 2005. They didn't really have competitors back then. My brother used Poscas probably for his art starting in the 1990's. I know my sister used to use them a lot 30+ years ago too.

But apparently it's brown!" me: "Nope Still brown." xD Art collage and art High school ruined me where I can't just see simple colors. I see the nuiance. I was able to even tell the slight differences when people are like "it's pretty much the same color!" where I saw one red more warmer than the other or whatnot.
@@sapphireseptember Oh defeantly with nail polish as each brand also have different handling of color mixing. There's chrome, their's holo, there's creams, but in each version you have your warm reds, your cool reds, your neutral reds, reds that shift into purple or that shift into orange. And the list can go on.
Rae i love you and i want your channel to grow, I think you should stay away from these brands as they're cancelled right now and are heavily boycotted for supporting the k*lling of many innocents. I love your videos with weird historical art supplies! I had no idea these brands made art supplies! I just think this video would've benefitted from a disclaimer encouraging people to not buy anything from these companies! ❤❤🇵🇸
Good to see you! Except aside from maybe Ikea, these companies likely did not actually make these products. They contracted to some OEM company to pack low end materials into custom packaging, which they then sold at a ridiculous markup. I always enjoy your videos and watching you make great art from whatever you review!
I don’t know if it was my phone screen but I didn’t see that pencil as black at all, I thought in every shot it was dark brown, even against the black nail comparison 😂 but loved the video and the paint markers looked so good I’d had loved to see it on shoes

Bro the IKEA Måla markers are SICKENING. They’re SO good. They’re water based markers and I used them REGULARLY. They’re amazing. Also, as a Swedish woman who graduated high school in 2005 and had tons of Super Star sneakers… the products in this video are everything to me.
Man, Rae. I've been a follower for 3 years now and I've watched almost all of your videos. please forgive me if this is rude but.. I was watching the whole video just silently hoping that you'd atleast show ONE brand that didn't support Pales**** (censoring bc of guidelines) but idk it just seems so fishy... there's no way you don't know that these brands are slaughtering children. And if you do still support them, go on just please let everybody know so we can stop watching you.
