Well in our capitalistic world, these $$$ Handhelds will sell better and will "last longer" giving players the security of it not being a potentiometer. Controllers on the other hand are a much cheaper having a wide price range from about $15 USD to $200 USD, now the more expensive controllers may come w/ hall effect but the cheaper ones are built for you to buy multiple. But players looking for a controller dont "need" the better joysticks they just need the controller. I for one would not be a fan if Official Microsoft Controllers (Basic, NOT ELITE) costed $80+ just because they have hall effect, if I can just change the joysticks myself for cheaper

Some games have the dead zone built into the game and therefore it doesn't matter if the hardware/software of the device have the dead zone removed. The game may or may not give you access to change that too.

Ooooooo... the removable controllers make this REALLY interesting to me. Been looking for an integrated x86 computer-display like this, with a reasonably large screen(but not laptop large), and decent I/O - I could use one of these to make a SICK digital dashboard(via the awesome, free RealDash; even supports GPS and such if you have a mobile connection, media playback cuz you're on a computer, nice software!) + tuning computer for the race car's ECU(my pref is Haltech stuff)! The removable controllers obviously go a long way to making something like this easier to mount as a dash(easily removable of course), nice bright screen, and enough I/O to plug in a mouse, keyboard(presumably could use bluetooth as well), and the ECU. I wonder if the 6-axis gyro could be hijacked for ECU data logging(doubt it's accurate enough though lol)... And, hey, able to get some gaming in at the track when I break my junk and can't make any more passes! LOL

From the times when PS Vita costed $250 dollars to now these handhelds costing upwards of $1500, something is serious amiss.. Sure the portability is a great thing but given that a very well specced midrange desktop/laptop can do pretty much all of what this device does way way better, I really fail to see the value proposition at $1000 to $1500. These companies really need to think about cost/value/customer capability to buy them. Sorry but however good this device is, it wont sell as many units for that cost.
@ultimategamerxp
@ultimategamerxp Год назад
I also think that these devices kind of have to be priced high for these company's to make any money on them, devices like the vita and the switch or any console per say are able to be cheap because they are also banking on the fact that you'll buy games on their store which they take a cut from. its the reason why valve sold the steam deck at a loss for the 400$ model because they are hoping they will make the extra money they need in order to make profit off of the user buying games off the Steam Store after they buy a deck. these other devices like gpd, aya neo, and the one in this video have no other way of making money other than their hardware. I am not disagreeing with you that they are expensive but I believe this is just the reason why they are.
@hhsudhanv
@hhsudhanv Год назад
@@ultimategamerxp Absolutely.. It makes sense that they do this because they do not have any other way of making money. But the fact that you pay a thousand dollars and then you have to also buy the games to run on these separately just adds to the overall value proposition. This device is absolutely one of the highest specced hand held devices but if the company prices it this high, it tells me that they dont expect to sell a lot and are just putting a heavy profit burden on their few customers. Thats doesnt feel reasonable.

Yes you can.... BUT that only affects YOUR controller input.... If a game has a "built-in" deadzone & their settings menu doesn't include the ability to adjust this deadzone; you're stuck with the "built-in" deadzone. An idea or concept itself cannot be patented (detachable handheld controllers, in this case), only the 'specialised' mechics that you designed for your version of it, can. So, as long as they haven't carbon copied the fixing and connection mechanisms, there's no infringement of patent. If concepts where patentable, then we'd be living in a wildly different world, run by monopoly organisations with absolutely zero competition. That company would be the sole supplier of that particular product. Even if you come up with a new concept and invention (say a device that changes the color of your eyes), you can only patent particular mechics that you designed for that device and not the concept itself.

Higher resolutions on small devices like handheld or mobiles is a actually a downside for me and a lot of people that might not even realize it. Past a certain point in term of physical pixel density, you don't notice the difference, but even at the point where you do see a difference, the trade-off in battery use and compute power is often not worth it, although that fluctuate depending on your sensibility to framerate & resolution. I'm really glad Steam understood that even though a lot of manufacturers don't seem to realize that. Because concretely, considering this device is more expensive than a SteamDeck, have bigger battery and compute power, any game you run at the same graphical setting but native resolutions of each devices will actually not look much worse on the SteamDeck (the pixel density is actually pretty good for the size) AND run at higher FPS on the SD, and for a longer time despite the smaller battery thanks to the lower power draw!
