@@syllahk Western civilization is the offspring of 1) classical Greece, 2) Rome and 3) Christendom. These are the cornerstones of western civilization....
We have a lot of burgers like homemade and they are delicious... Greece is not only for gyro , pastitsio and tzatziki. I’m Greek and passed 7 months that I haven’t eat one of these!
Paradise is the whole of Greece! not only the islands we have but , they never visited the north! rivers, forests , lakes , waterfalls, the whole country
They are not stones. They are pieces of buildings or sculptures created 2000 years ago which, unfortunately, were destroyed over the time. 😁 you should have visited the new Acropolis museum too. nice video thought. Thank you
No judgement but those rocks are steeped in rich history. I felt your frustration with your brother. My little brother annoys the heck outta me too...lol But you love each other so that's important. How do you afford to travel on a budget?
I was 100% shocked at the fact that I liked Athens but I wasn't there for long and spent a few days in Santorini and then a few days in Mykonos. Gotta go back to Athens AND check out some less touristy islands. It's all great
@Nicos Frangeskou Huh? Are you repeatedly telling ME to research? For what? I visited and was pleasantly surprised how much I liked it. Research won't make you like/dislike a location.
The joke is that in Greece a Greek salad is called "salad"... but actually, the salad that consists of mostly tomatoes and cucumber, and usually feta cheese is called a "horiatiki salata" or village salad ... they do have other salads 😂
I'm glad you enjoyed Athens. My advice is to come back and explore the city more, it's a fascinating place. You might also want to visit the mainland and some of the lesser known islands. Each place here is gorgeous and full of interesting history.
As a Greek person I was shocked when you called our heritage "rocks", while being amazed at Ermou street (literally one of the worst streets in Athens) ...
Paige! I love your videos...but gurl. Next time you go to a place like Greece, please take a few moments to learn a bit about the place. You are one of my fav RU-vid personalities. As a Black Geek, and a Christian... I admit I'm biased...but Gurl...Athens?....The Acropolis???? That is the footsteps of Paul the Apostle, and World history... Not rocks that fell down. I'm still a fan though... Grace and Love.
@@PaigeMariah Y'all go wild (not you, specifically, just Americans overall) when someone "disrespects" black culture though (e.g. they do something as simple and seemingly inoffensive as wear a black hairstyle). Imagine someone describing traditional African/Jamaican/Carribbean rituals as "a bunch of people jumping around and howling". Doesn't sound too nice, does it?
@@PaigeMariah I don't think Chesarae Fletcher was trying to throw shade, but since you are actually paying money to see these historic sites, maybe just maybe and it's just a suggestion, because you do not have a guide, you Google at least to find out a bit about these sites. Those fallen rocks, or more rocks lined up, actually have a history behind them. The first "rock" you climbed your first night, is called The Areopagus, which was the historical version of The Supreme Court!! The rocks that are lined up both on the ground and on the racks, are strategically placed there and numbered, usually by archaeologists, so they can be reconstructed to their original standing state. The Parthenon was finished in 438 BC and it is still standing; considered as one of the world's greatest cultural monuments. In its 2.500+ years life has been bombarded, seised and more importantly looted by Lord Elgin ....so yes, a lot more than just rocks.
yeah stuck up cause he feels threatened. can't stand american tourists like him , its like why did you even leave home, we don't want your kind in Europe. Girl was nice though but sadly hasn't a clue about European culture.
Paige’s videos are great to watch. This is good content and the camaraderie that you have with your brother is nice. Glad that you’re having fun Videos are spectacular as always
I am of Crete!! Go to Thessaloniki too,the amazing city of Macedonia, founded by Cassandros !the name is from the sister of Alexander the great🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷
The fact she climbed this rocky hill at night and was stunned by the view of the city and gave no shit to the acropolis that is absolutely mesmerizing at night is both unbelievably sad yet surprisingly entertaining :P
Hey! So those rocks are actually marble! So funny to hear your frustration, but I also loved the fact that you liked them! The impressive thing about them and all the statues (if you visited the Acropolis museum) is the detailing they have in an era that they did not have the tools that we currently have.
I really liked your video. But as a tip to better enjoy ancient civilizations' monument..just have a guide. Due to the fact that they are ancient and not medieval monuments (so there is roughly 2000 years difference), itis obvious not to have remained close to their initial state. It is like visiting the Eiffel Tower in 5000 AC. Don't expect it even to exist...
I love you so much 😩🥺❤️ you make me want to go to every city you go to. It looks beautiful. I enjoy your vlogs keep them coming. The food the people everything looks amazing.
Paige you are great to watch. So glad you liked Athens. One of my favourite cities in th world. So wish you stayed longer. So much more to see and do. Hope you visit again one day and post more. Best.
Really tho,if you are in Greece and want to eat cheap or at least not go to the restaurant every single day, just get gyros,it’s super cheap and filling, also you can order different meat type and toppings(I for instance get chicken with sauce instead of tzatziki),ask the locals where they get takeout from, not only will it be cheaper,it’ll taste better too.
Thank you Paige for this wonderful video of Athens I absolutely love Athens and I'm planning to go there to live after living in uk for almost 38 years Thank you again you did an excellent job Best of health and happiness for you and your brother Arya from uk
Athens was the Best city i've ever lived in and you made me miss it soooo much! Though i am super glad you had fun! I wish someday i'll get back there and never leave again ^^
@Elyse George we are nice )) for example i am nice )) :pp and idiots of course gives everywhere so and here in Athens ..but 99% people are friendly ..some taxi drivers are idiots and thats all !! ))
The only problem with turists who visit athens is that they dont know what they see and when it was build and why i dont blame them its a lot of fucking history but in athens you need a local too tour you around for sure
Glad you didn't take the slippery stairs...the metal stairs are way safer. I see you arrived at the acropolis just in time for the cruise ship crowd, but it didn't look too crowded. One of my favorite places.
ask me next time to show you Athens more ..its amazing and unique city but its very difficult to explore !! so a lot tourists cant see 90 % from city !! ..and i mean this !! ..we work on this !! ))
Quite disappointed by yr total lack of history knowledge,...fallen rocks....next time please read a bit before u visit a place....just for a change.....
we had just a crisis ..nothing more ..for example i have never feel this ..and i mean i live here and i go in all Greece ...you would never think this country is in crisis or a ruin ..it was like a crisis in a nice relatioship)) and dont forget Greece had in this time and have and now one of the best standard of living in world and one of the most rich countries in world ..now we look to make even more better things for our country )) and i hope you doing the same for yours )) btw where are you from ??))Happy New Year btw.
No no not in ruins even though we have many left from our ancestors in different archeological sites and museums.. l never really felt the crisis even though it lasted over 8 years..we have a good standard of living and most Greeks own their home and a summer one too...pay us a visit and see for yourself 💕 the Greek Islands are absolutely amazing over 2000 to explore..
It was a financial crisis in a developed European country for 7 years. Do people really think that within 7 years a developed country returned to stone age and we now live in caves with no electricity and running water?
I felt the same way about Rome...I felt like I had been there in another life or something. Very emotional...the food is DELICIOUS... My sister is the same way girl...eating American food in Europe like Burger King/McDonald's/Kentucky fried chicken🙄💆🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
The night skyline shines so brightly across the city - awesome. The terrain is so hilly with plenty of steps - ugh! Love all of the shops Are there other modes of transportation used to get around Athens, i.e., trains, boats, taxis, etc? Thanks for keeping your subscribers updated on your travels. I know Santorini will be breathtaking, because its located on a hill near a body of water. Toodles!
Yet again another awesome video of Paige ft Perrin. Top travel tip... bring comfy sneakers/trainers always (£10 from your favourite store here). And I definitely think when you and Perrin need a mainstream reality TV show y'all are amazing ❤🇺🇸
They aren't just rocks girl. Not just Rocks. If you were familiar with history you will understand that. But at least you like it. What you ate in the end its Gyros not kebab.
No way! Just left Mykonos with bae on Sat. Wonder if we were there at the same time. Would have been cool to see yall there. I got hooked on the Souvlaki too! Had it 2 nights in a row. Loved it there. Hope you enjoyed your trip too!
Hey Paige, to me you are literally an inspiration in so many ways. So officially me and my boyfriend decided to move to London along with our kids. If you have any advice for searching for a flat please let me know! (: Love you girlll
Cool video, i like your style. And I liked your jokes on the stones and rocks lol and let me tell you, these rocks are something you wil NEVER see in America, only in Greece you can find these rocks lol
LOL that view in one spot - is where St. Paul lectured to the citizens of Athens Greece... ! the other place i think was an oracle - - you're missing the most incredible history of the places that give it meaning... ps. didn't go to good restaurants by looks of it...best ones in Koukaki or plaka....( traditional desserts are pastries , very french but more creamy...not the one you had ) kebabs and salads and a gyro is usually in a sandwich not on a plater like that...it's like a burrito more ...and worst time t go to Greece is August. all tourists - greeks and the vibe takes off to islands or countryside. September in Athens is the best ! Islands is best in JUly - Italians jersey shore types come in August
The beeautiful clubs are all by the sea in Athens - and Athens has the biggest nightlife scene in Europe with absolutely beautiful Miami beach style clubs / bars..
not really sure why you Americans bother visiting countries at all as you kind of miss the point of the history and the culture ??? you know you you seem like such a nice girl but the reality is - you just come off real ignorant to the rest of the world because of how you can't appreciate any country other than your own toxic culture which consists of nothing more than trying to get rich/ burgers and kardashians.
8:52 Lisa Bonet vibes 😊 ... I was puzzled by that salad lol, like where’s the lettuce? I don’t blame your brother for sending that lamb back. Y’all’s relationship reminds me of my relationship with my sister, and we’re twins!
Lamp is not for everybody. Either you like it or not Don;t let anyone in any country of the world talk you into eating it just because "it's a different recipe, etc" It's the same animal. If you don't like it how it tastes in your country, you'll probably end up not liking it abroad.
