The mother’s family just want the daughter to live in this delusional land where her mother was a saint who took care of her, while her father was the bad guy who bailed on her. It’s honestly sad that the family literally told the dad to lie about what actually happened. No, OP had every right to tell his daughter the truth on what actually happened. The family’s just mad about it b/c he didn’t go along with their delusional plans. He did the right thing. Her mother robbed her from having her father in her life b/c of her selfishness.

She is 19. I would understand lying if she was like ten but that woman is a grown ass adult. She can drive, vote, live alone, have a job, get married, she can even drink in most countries. The family is almost bordering on abusive for lying to her and demanding that op lies to her and then continously harassing op online to the point where he had to block them.

Second, just because most adults VIEW 19 year olds as kids doesnt mean they actually ARE. I would say that most 80 year olds view 30 year olds as children but this doesnt prove anything about the maturity of 30 year olds, it just proves that your perception affects your opinion of things. Thirdly, age doesnt necessarily account for maturity levels. Look at all the 50 year old karens who throw tantrums at teenage minimal wage mcdonalds workers because the ice cream machine is not working. There are plenty of respectable teenagers and 50 year olds who should not be given respect just because of their age.

Was she really his daughter though? Did they get a proper dna test just to make sure? Because it could've been that she didn't tell him and lied to her family because she wasn't his daughter to begin with, and asking for child support would've involved a paternity test. (PS > Definitely NTA.)

It's just as a big a change for your life as hers. Except neither of you were allowed to make the decision for yourselves. Someone else did it for you, and they should be able to stand behind that decision. If they couldn't they shouldn't have made it to begin with.
