Thanks! I love both for different reasons. Road course is more fun for me, but 10x more work than just throwing slicks on and going as fast as I can lol.

How competitive was the GSX against other platforms? 1g or 2g? suspension? I've got several awd DSM's and I've always wanted to get into auto cross and road courses.

@robbalinski1606 1g isn't competitive unless its raining and on a good tire meant for rain. Power steering cuts out at high rpm, fuel slosh is very prominent and abs isnt very good. Suspension on a 1g and steering need a lot of modification to feel right. Also the turbo is too laggy on tight courses on a 1g. The turbo plays against the steering. Could probably make it work for road racing. 2g is much better. Still can have steering issues but the smaller turbo and suspension design absorbs bumps and holds traction on the tire a lot better. Still has the steering cut at higher rpm and fuel slosh but it's much better power band makes that less prominent. That being said both are fun. And it should be about fun and seat time, not winning. If you expect to dominate in any motorsports without lots and I mean lots of seat time you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

@@Fyxxterzc aaahh kind of what I figured, not really competitive with out massive amounts of modifications. I've got a 2.3 stroker with a FP 68hta currently in my 1g that I had planned on swapping into my caged 98 tsi awd that already had a shep trans and build rear diff. was looking at some adjustable arms and feal coilovers for the 2g to help sort it out then probably a rear sway bar to finish it off. Have you seen many guys running the volvo electric power steering pumps?

@robbalinski1606 mostly honda guys. There used to be a guy you could send the pump to who would bore out the restrictor or put a higher pressure spring in it to give a few more rpm. Also heard of people using the evo 3 ps pump I believe it was the makenen edition one? May be off there it's been a long time since I've wrenched on a dsm. Forgotten a lot. If you could get a faster rack and get that rpm cut out a 2g would do very well. Suspensions were much better design though they did have a recall on them for being weak metalurgically. I believe they are aluminum double a arms like the ef ek and eg hondas (though steel a similar design). Much better suspension to keep the wheels planted. As strange as it sounds you will almost want to set it up like a fwd with a higher rate rear spring that oversteers on braking turn in and throttle out to induce understeer to neutralize it. Bigger rear sway bar could help with that. Would be a twitchy drive on the street though.

@@Fyxxterzc K, thanks for the advise. I've got zero seat time so no real clue how to set a car up. I used to do lift off oversteer on my mk6 golf when doing canyon carving to help bring the rear around quicker, so I guess it'd be a lot like that but more controlled?
