I'm gonna say some things I probably haven't said in your comments in a while, if ever. Good video. Funny Prusa remark. Nice positivity. Good job overall and I saw some things I haven't seen covered by other 3D printing channels. 👍

One of the best videos yet, DPT successfully did the "Antiques Roadshow"-vibe for 3D Printing. Right on!

Oh this was such a great video, loved the style and saw things not covered in other ones at the same show. I know I'm 9 months late but hey the RU-vid algorithm stopped showing you videos unless I go look for them now. Sad.

Genuinely stunning content. As a consumer of content, I am pleased by this. I would welcome more content of a similar nature.

Just watched to the end, the cello was really awesome and sounded great. I have never played one, but going to a 2 cellos concert sure is fun.

Nice! I hoped you met with Joel telling to work some of the differences with one of your prusa videos, but hey, at least you didn't get "uninvited" to this one. Great to see you out and about!

I assume the McCormick Center is the one in Chicago? I have never been to that show, but other shows for work at that facility. That place is pretty large.

It’s amazing how fast 3d printing is developing, new techniques and technology. Would love a pellet style fdm printer that has a shredder that failed prints or general waste can just be dumped back into the printer for recycling. I print my models so colour doesn’t matter and would make me feel better about the use and abuse of plastic in this hobby/industry.
@simonschneider5913
@simonschneider5913 8 месяцев назад
recycling is not that simple, not even in injection moulding. you cant do 100% recycled material, and its seriously complicating process stability. whats working is to feed the rest of moulded parts back into the extruder because it has consistent properties. yet, wwhen you mix different sources, it gets real messy really fast. only used for non-structural, invisible stuff, or things that wrent meant to look great, like trash-cans...

It's the filament laying version of a low earth orbit pen haha
@DesignPrototypeTest
@DesignPrototypeTest Год назад
As it turns out that pen was actually needed. The graphite dust from pencils floating around in zero g can seriously destroy the computers on spacecraft. Also it was developed by a private company so NASA didn't pay any money. Just bought the completed product to take into space.

Thanks for sharing all those cool things! I have a couple of questions: The Slice hotend with the die, okay... laminar flow and all that, but do you think aligning, shearing and stetching the polymer through the die would result in more warping because all of those increased stresses and the polymer chains wanting to disorganize themsleves and be in a more relaxed state than parallel and stretched when coming out of the nozzle, pulling even harder and causing more warping. The huge formar 3d printer is printing on wood! What are they printing, ABS? I don't think that chamber is heated or anything, does the wood have something on top like wood glue or anything like that?
@DesignPrototypeTest
@DesignPrototypeTest Год назад
Good question! Without any real world testing under my belt? Theoretically, I think you're on the right track. A turbulent flow should result in a print that has less shrinkage. Equal to do decrease in shrinkage would be a decrease in strength. I'm thinking of it like the difference between a felt fabric and a woven fabric. Aligned fibers are much stronger. It sounds like you would get a lot of benefit reading the white paper by slice engineering. Think it's up on their website. If not yet, it will be soon.

Send me an email. You can find my email address on the about tab after you click on my channel name. I'll let you know as soon as I release that. But remember that I designed this to print on a 300 mm bed printer.

what is that cello made of? special abs?
@DesignPrototypeTest
@DesignPrototypeTest Год назад
He told me but I forgot. I think The body is carbon fiber ABS. I know the neck is made out of carbon fiber polycarbonate. It's printed vertically so shrinkage is minimized.
