Yes, loading the drum gets easier the more you do it. It takes me about five minuets to get mine loaded. I run mine as the first magazine in my Mk III then switch to extended Talon mags. Being able to dump 50 rounds out of the gate is just epic!
Hey, what have you done to the Mk III to improve the rev switch reliability? I’ve had mine for a bit over a week and immediately have issues of getting a reliable rev. Have you just gone with the switch brace or swapped out the factory switch entirely? Asking because it’s a great blaster when it actually works, and would love to get mine up and running properly.
@@TheSybermedic damn, I got issues after the first time using it. didn’t even play rough, pretty simple semi-auto firing with 12-dart mags. enjoy the mag and the blaster, hopefully you’ll be spared of the rev-switch curse!

People don't realize that drum mags in real steel need a winding mechanism too. So this loading procedure is pretty standard. AK drums require opening and stacking rounds. Then closing and winding.
It seems to be the AK drum mechanism, but converted to loading through a trapdoor instead of opening the whole system. It adds some difficulty to loading, but I expect that it's necessary to prevent the printed plastic from breaking
Not only is it faster to fire all the darts than it is to load the mag, it’s probably faster to pull the darts out and fire them out of a jolt one by one.
The place I find drum mags excel is as your first magazine, followed up by standard stick mags. I hope someday we get an injection molded version of one of these.
Make dart zone collab with this mag's manufacturer and go 50% 50% together. Maybe improve the design on the way to make it smoother and suitable for injection moulding(Idk how it's spelled😢)
Most blasters don't have a high enough RoF to justify this and the complexity is unavoidable if you want a drum that feeds fast and reliably. Even real steel drums have weird loading systems and often require winding a spring.
That was also the US military's conclusion with real life drum mags. Why carry 1 bulky 50 round mag when 2 25 round mag weighted less, were less prone to jams and could fit in a convenient mag pouch. In this case it's because it looks dope, the engineering is awesome and if you are running a single shot springer in a reasonable length game, you never have to reload for that game.
This is great and I think very useful eother in the capacity you mentioned or else just carrying a few, don't plan on refilling them. Mostly a springer guy but I could see the use of having 100-150 rounds atthe ready for my MK3. Thanks for the review! Edit: in fact, this would make a great prize find on the battlefield: a high-capacitu blaster but you only get 50 shots then it's done.
Not likely... The whole point of this drum is to provide constant and reliable pressure for blasters with a high RoF. An open back would risk darts jamming as they get jostled around.
You need some XL or XXL dump pouches for reloads using those bad boys! Please try at least once in a 100 dart max round of competitive play against Beret wielding 100 Jolts LOL
I'm kinda disappointed that this drum mag isn't just the nerf drum mag, but scaled to accept short darts (the internals are not quite the same; Darts can get stuck in there).
To carry these on your person you'd probably want belted clips with faux talon magwells, and a sturdy release buttons. Even then, I couldn't see you fitting more than two of these on your front torso.
That has been the limit for capacity when using a spring fed magazine. The next innovation would be to split compartments with separate springs so each channel of darts had a limited spring force applied to them, so one compression spring is only responsible for crushing 8 to 10 darts or so at a time, then they are fed into the low pressure side of the next spring set. Other than this, the only other option would be some type of magazine cycling.
I'd rather just run a titan mag for the time being, or a tachi, OR the tomcat Eventually a manufacturer will release an injection molded half dart drum mag and this will be redundant unfortunately
