Just to be clear, Meyers Briggs (specifically that website) is designed to be the simplified and consumable version of a function test. The function test is actually pretty accurate, it doesn't categorize by extroversion and introversion or thinking or feeling. Instead, it focuses on preferences between externalized or internalized forms of different functions and addresses the fact that everyone has all of them but developed at different levels. This isn't necessarily a defense of MBTI, its just something that one learns when looking further into it. Just wanted to bring it up!! (And no test is entirely accurate.)

Im tired of seeing people disregarding mbti just because of the test. Its actually much deeper than it seems once you learn all the cognitive functions.

INFPs secretly run the Internet I guess. I Remember when Matt Pat did a video on the Myers Briggs and there was an overwhelming amount of INFPs.

Tests like these are amazing. They ask you questions like "do you easily feel stressed" and at the end results they'll tell you things like "your personality type easily feels stressed" and everyone is like "wow yes that's me how did they know!?"

You’re right, taking only the MBTI without also finding out your cognitive functions hierarchy is totally worthless.

I actually set up an experiment where some friends and I retook this test once every five weeks for fifteen weeks. I've gotten INTP every time and I don't think my friends changed either (but, granted, people can lie.) I would take it with a grain of salt though. It was, I think, accurate for me.

I'm an INTJ. I've gotten INTP a couple of times as well, but the majority of times I get INTJ.

I'm INTP, The Logician. A couple years ago, it never gave me a definite answer, but I've changed a lot since then, and I took the test last year, and earlier this year, and it consistently gives me INTP, which I think is pretty accurate. Highly introverted, highly thinking, terrible in social situations, and hard to get close to.

I've taken the MBTI test 4 times over the course of 5 years and I've always been an INFP!

Back when I was very concerned with other people's emotions and wanting to fit it, I would get INFP, but when I uh "changed" I started getting INTP, and to be honest based on what me parents tell me and what I personally think I think the cognitive functions associated with INTP (Ti, Ne, Si, Fe) were accurate for me. I'll see myself out

What I find annoying is that people confuse the accuracy of a test with the utility and descriptiveness of the system itself. Yes, tests may give wildly different results if taken multiple times, but that doesn't make the types invalid. There are other ways to determine one's type.

I got INTP, and it was just me. These test are scarily accurate, as much as i hate admitting that.

Fun Fact : 16Personalitites is not an MBTI test. They have it written on their website that it uses a combination of many personality metrics and have devised their own theory which they call NERIS Type Indicator.

I took the test around 4 years ago for fun and got Mediator (INFP). Took it again just a few minutes ago and got the same again. I think the 'un-accuracy' of the test comes less from it being actually accurate and more about people changing over time. Some people change considerably in short time spaces whilst others stay more or less the same

So many INTP's in this comment section! I heard we were quite rare so I think that says a lot about Dave's audience ^_^ (INTP-A here, btw!)

Your test results are very inconclusive, since the percentages are all only barely above 50%. The only relevant one is the 66% on Intuitive. You're in a position where you can pretty much ignore the test result (the letters), and the text that it gave you.

The test isn’t entirely accurate, because it tests for individual traits rather then the functions. So the system of organization is scientific and accurate, but the test isn’t

Hey, as somebody who has literally read books about personality and MBTI in particular, I'd like to warn that the test itself is extremely inaccurate. Pretty much unusable. However, the basic ideology which the test attempts to evaluate is, to me, very logical and applicable. The test definitely mistyped you- if I had to say, you're an INTP. That is, based on the cognitive function stack that INTPs use. INTPs main function is introverted thinking, or accuracy. It's obsessed with objective and formal logic and finding the truth by any means possible. Accuracy users are gifted at sorting through data and evidence and removing some personal bias.

I disagree with being an idealist part because frankly I'm very cynical but I agree with the "quiet until someone mentions something I like then I will talk your ear off for hours" part.

I was born in 1991. In high school (about 2007) they made our whole school take this test and we had to spend time with people "like us" for a whole day. Everyone had huge groups to mingle... I had this one guy that I already hung out with... We laughed and laughed, hundreds of kids, and we were alone together ;)

I think MBTI doesnt define your personality for example you can be kind, polite, stubborn, selfish etc while being an ENTJ or ISFP it doesnt matter. I think MBTI defines how you percieve what is happening around you and how you react to them. Thats why its kind of meaningless to do categorizations like 1:00 But unfortunatelly many websites do like that to gain readers. But lets say we dont care about those kind of click baity things and really try to understand what MBTI is. There are still problems with it. First of all, you may not be able to understand how someone percieve the world and react to it with only random 70-100 questions. You may if one's personality is really consistent but its usually not the case, they are many really complex people. Instead you need to be like a psychologist and ask questions according to the answers of the person that you are talking with. You need to examine the mimics, the words that the person choose etc. And you also should examine that person in his/her daily life for some time too. Also that person should cooperate with you because if that person hides his/her true feelings, your research might be meaningless too. So, since we are not psychologists who spends a lot of time analyzing what people do, it would be really hard for us to determine someone's MBTI Type. I think if the issues with MBTI were fixed and if experts were appointed to determine people's MBTI, it could help many people understand about their feelings etc. I think i luckily got the correct result in this test (INFJ) and after that i did gain some things from it. But some other people that i know who got wrong results didnt gain anything from it obv.
