I've been tracking since July and totally agree that the results are sometimes surprising. The pieces that 'spark joy' often don't get the most wears because they're not as functional/versatile as some of my workhorses.

So interesting, isn’t it? I did the same spreadsheet for myself. My most worn item was a long sleeved white v-neck tee. I wore it under buttonups, sweaters, pullovers, and i slept in it. I have multiples of it. I found that i have some favorite pieces, that although i love, I wouldn’t gravitate toward. I had to sort of force myself to wear it to give it a tally mark to justify keeping it. That was eye opening. So my ‘fictional/fantasy’ pieces didn’t match my current lifestyle.

I've been tracking my wardrobe like this for several years. I can calculate the cost/wear for an item and it becomes very clear which items I theoretically wear versus the items I actually wear. Helps with decluttering as I move between my fall/winter and spring/summer wardrobes.

I’ve been counting how many times I’ve worn a piece of clothing for about 2 years now. I do it in my phone, in my notes, I really enjoy adding the numbers, analysing them, transfer them into new season. I used to buy A LOT of clothes, now I buy less, wear more and I’m more satisfy with them. (I also keep some pictures of my favourite outfits from every season so I can rewear my clothes as much as possible)

So interesting! I'm not working currently, and my outings are limited to grocery runs and/or medical appointments, tbh. So most days, I am in what I refer to as my "slagwear," or things I really don't worry about cooking in, drinking coffee or whatever. I mostly won't go out in slagwear, but many days I do NOT go out. I don't do excel, but I think I will make an effort to track what I'm wearing, because I'm sure it will be very enlightening! Thanks for this!

Great video! I’ve been tracking my wardrobe with the Stylebook app for over 3 years now and it has taught me so much about what I do/don’t wear. *Let's hear it for Canadian style! :)* I think this is a great exercise, Christina. We would have a chance to really see what our personal style is versus who we think we are; what we think we reach for versus the pieces that we actually do. Not to mention that it _is_ a fantastic decluttering tool. Mind you, living in Ontario (I'm 3 hours north of you, near North Bay), using the rule of "if you haven't worn it in the last 6 months" just doesn't work for us. We have such a range of seasons!!! This is a _great_ idea as the beginning of so many pathways... Thank you for sharing this part of your journey with us! :) Btw, I totally understand why you would have the tattoo and the necklace in memory of your sweet pup - these are the pets that are more than just animals... or even just pets! They are family members, friends, sometimes even confidants. I think the necklace is your way of celebrating just how special a friend you had. :) Shannon A.

I've been tracking since July 2019 - although 2020 is definitely an anomaly of a year as there have been many, many days I didn't really get dressed. My most worn item of all time is a pair of vintage boots I bought in 2009 for £25. Looking at my tracking data, I estimate I've worn them at least 300 times! In 2020 so far, I've only worn shoes on 84 days - so low it's crazy! - and 20 of those times I was in those boots. That's almost a quarter! I have a few older items in my wardrobe, but these boots are really the only thing that I have consistently loved and worn as my style has changed over the years. They have been re-heeled three times and re-soled once but the actual boot leather is holding up really well. I'm hoping I can keep them for another ten years!

I’m wanting an inventory to see what I have, what I need, how often I wear each item, & what I wore it with for quickly pulling outfits together? Tops are my first priority as they take up most of my closet space. I tend to get “into the weeds”, so I’m wondering how much detail will really be useful, ie, neckline, length from shoulder seam to hem line, sleeve type, fabric, etc. As for pants, Rise? Color, fabric, detail, leg length, width, skinny? Thanks.

Loved this concept of tracking your wardrobe to see what you actually wear. Just guessing, I'd say my skinny jeans and cashmere sweaters get the most use. Meanwhile, I have too many clothes so I'd be hard -pressed to wear the same thing in a couple weeks. I know this sounds crazy, but I think I collect things just to have them and look at them! My biggest issue is loving beautiful fabrics, dresses and shoes but not being realistic about my lifestyle. I'm retired (67), I walk, run, have an active casual lifestyle. So why am I buying silk blouses etc which aren't appropriate for my day to day?Especially during our covid lockdown in Manitoba. Anyone else with this "problem"? I'd love to hear!

there was a great vid by the Messy Minimalist - she lives in the States and runs a motel with her husband and 2 daughters - and the vid was about Fantasy "Me". the premise was all about the things we buy to feed the fantasy of ourselves....things we end up with but will never wear because they are all about the fantasy we have of ourselves....and I am so identifying things I've purchased and just hung in my closet - and blazers is one of them. I can't wear anything like that to work because I"m just too hot all the time - summer and winter. I drive my coworkers nuts because they're always cold and I'm always so hot...and I mean sweat-hot...so altho fantasy me says I look great in blazers and need to own them - real me can't......so thats been my latest decuttering mission......this charting is a great idea if you are in the wild about your clothes - love it - it looks so professional...LOL

It's so refreshing to see a natural normal-looking woman without a bubble butt, lip fillers, or oversexualized hyperfeminine features and body.

Another super video. I have to say I am sick of SO MANY people on youtube "styling" a plain white T and layered gold chains. lol most of which are all identical! Its very boring. I've checked out this Mejuri line of jewelry and reviews say its not well made. so, If someone wants nice gold chains go to an antique store, coin shop, vintage shop, garage/yard sales, estate sales, ETSY, poshmark, offerup, or craigslist. You are more likely to find a well made REAL gold piece if you are experienced in fine jewelry markings, etc. @style apotheca Why Mejuri sponsored content on a so called minimalist, sustainable you tube channel?

I can recommend gold pieces from a brand called Norrfolks! They use recycled gold (i have the thin gold hoops and love them) and lab-grown diamonds. So cool 💫

You make great points. Remember that YT is a business, so it makes sense to mix relatable content (styling a white shirt) with aspirational content (gold jewelry, content creators who are young, attractive, thin, and fashionable). Relatable + aspirational = a winning combination that gets views, and therefore $.

Exactly my thoughts. The hypocrisy doesn't go unnoticed. Very disappointing.
