Please don’t fly anything with a Rotec radial. The new ones aren’t any better, they still blow up with less than 100 hours. The company isn’t supplying parts any more because they are being sued in 11 or more countries.
Jim, losing internet after having lost thieving wife, vehicle and now my home to the lawyers so it can be divided. Dog even died. Man, I’m livin’ a country song and can’t escape. Adios and hope to see ya down there road.
The old, night time deliveries... 😂 Jim, if someone wants to deliver ANYTHING to you at night that isn't your late night snacks, they're up to nothing good at all. 😂
drop off... i'ts yerz now... i am outtahere.... WOAH!!! dude, not even a coffee?? nope have another load at 4am across town... (not really they just wanna get the Q$WTYRGA)VUYHI out of doge! LOL)
I hardly ever comment on video's but, seeing you teach your son to drive stick in a Porsche really touched my heart. You are a good Dad! And.... I have watched (and enjoyed) many of your videos. Thank you.
Anybody else get C3PO vibes from Jimmy when he was in the crash test dummy suit talking to the camera? His mannerisms and head movements seemed spot on to me. 😂😂😂 Love ya, Jimmy! And as a born and bred Florida boy, this 100% has my stamp of approval! 😂
What's worse? They are at an airport and someone is a pilot 😅😂🤣 Oh, I forgot, you are now a broke pilot - which is a misnomer - every pilot I know is broke 😅
That R2800 is around 15,500plus about another 1800 for the engine mount. That whole package will bring about $60K if it's flyable, probably more. You did good Jimmy.
Hi Jimmy I am a 911 expert. Driven them for 45 years was an authorized Porsche dealer for 18 years. The 996 1999 to 2004 version of the 911 is the least desirable. I saw one is a Tiptronic transmission and that hurts it as well. These versions were also known to have some genetic engine issues. These cars do drive well but were never accepted by the core Porsche customer. They shared too many cosmetic characteristics of the less expensive Boxster of the same time frame. I also saw a lot of warning lights on the dash. The battery is going dead that’s why the alarm is going off. This is not a good deal.
I've got an engine from a 2000 996 in my 2000 986 with a standard transmission. It performs amazingly well when I am not waiting on parts. In the last month I had the AOS and the coolant reservoir fail on me.
Key on left side for le mans start. Run up to the car, open the door, reach in start the car as you get in, sit down. close the door and go. Faster than getting in, putting the key in and then going. :)
The Denney Kitfox was originally designed for a radial engine that was in development at the time. But the engine was never completed so Denney went with Rotax engines instead. They did, however, keep the original cowl design, at least for the early models, which is why they looked like they had radial engines even though they didn't. It's cool that yours actually does have a radial engine as originally envisioned.
Open the front trunk, the 4 wheel drive has a different fuel tank . Oil pressure senders fail, there's a trick to changing them ;-) light switches too. You can read all about the crank bearing seal issues on the web...
Well, the cool blue radial of course!!! I see you were studying and implementing the great ' meet you in the middle' negotiation system made famous by Ed Bolian! Way to go Jimmy, you get an A++!!!
Jimmy, tell Silas to make sure when he pushes the clutch pedal to have has heel resting on the floor. This way he will only use his ankle joint pivot and not his entire leg when releasing the clutch. This technique makes driving off in a car with manual transmission much easier. His feet are large enough so no issues there 😁
Awesome trade Jimmy. That KitFox with a radial is sweet. I can't wait to see it done and hear it run. Keep up the excellent work. Safe skies my friend 🇺🇸🛩️
Thanks Jimmy! I have not Laughed Out Loud Like that in ages!!! Walking home was a hoot! I learned to drive a stick in a '55 Volkswagen Microbus in San Francisco! Talk about feathering a clutch! The Crash test Dummy suit had me rolling on the floor (or at least in my recliner)!!! Thanks again for a bit of uplifting aviation and transportation! Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!!! 🙂😎
In a world where everything is media drama you have no idea the value this channel brings to life. You should honestly have your own TV series TBH. Better than 3/4 of what's out there now.
You may have a vacuum leak somewhere. Can cause mis fires and MAF codes. Due to unmetered air into engine. Can also cause cat codes. Probably due to aftermarket intake system. If you have not figured out already. PCV issue could also cause same issues,
The left side key was developed for racing at Lemans, Porsche was adamant that it shaved time to fire up as the drivers started out of the cars and ran across pit road jumped in and started the race. The more you know….
😂😂 awesome vid guys, well done Jimmy, I pissed myself laughing at the crash test dummy suit. love the blue girl, can’t wait to see her fly. Great manual driven Young Jim, clutch, throttle and don’t stall are not easy to learn.
13:04 i think that’s the mass air flow sensor plug hanging down on the exhaust, that’ll cause all sorts of lights Including the psm and traction control lights. As a owner of a 996 there’s more affordable ways to repair most things.
Most hated Porsche 911 is the type 996 because of the "fried egg headlights". Sorry However if those turbo twist rims are the right kind they could be worth a lot. I would ask JR garage for guidance on the rims.
The KitFox in major KEWL. I would have gone for the S51. I can’t make Sun-N-Fun this year but my plane is going. I am a big dude and my SIL wants a KitFox, we may stop in for a look in 2025 or fly down and check it out. He is 240 and I am 230. We need powerful toys. You of all people should know when starting a Porsche you must yell “Can I get a clear fan belt”.
Chuck from OH. This has to be the craziest episode I seen you do lol . Your son did great with the Porsche standard takes a min to get down pat. I'm glad you got the plane looks cool although I'm not up on planes I had an interest as a teen and had a couple RC planes . But great trading skills n extra cash helps . Thanks for the entertainment. See you on the next Jimmy's world. Chuck grounded in OH.
Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy. Please learn the phrase "PrePurchase Inspection". 😆 Fitting Grizzly in the back of the Porsche reminded me of a line from a review on the back seat of an RX-7 +4: "Plenty of room for your rhesus monkey". And Silas is the luckiest kid in the world!
Being into both Porsche cars and airplanes I believe I'd have to keep the airplane. My 986 with the 996 engine is pretty awesome when it is running perfectly, but it is a money pit that spends more time waiting on parts to be delivered than time on the road. bad first start. Put key in and turn to accessory position and wait for oil check (right hand dial will show oil level), wait for it to return okay oil level before starting.
Did you even Google 996’s??!! I own a 1999 996 and there are so many scams going on with people passing on bad engines to new buyers. The M96 engines suffer from piston scraping that renders the engines toast. They also used to have a bad bearing issue (IMS) that most have either been replaced or long blown up. The biggest issue is still #6 and # 5 cly’s screwed up from piston skirt scraping the internal locasil coating off and then it burns oil as the rings fail. Northern cars are the worst (cold weather) and we now find out it’s the use of winter gas with its anti icing additives that strip the oil off the cly’s on cold start up. Every start in cold weather is closer to the end. E85 fuel kills these engines sooner. I’m in Canada - I don’t drive it in winter and never use winter gas. Your shocks and suspension are probably dead after this many years. I have 230K on mine and pretty much all running gear has been changed at least once if not twice. The engine has never been opened but I change the oil every 2500K so that probably helped. In my opinion you got scammed on these cars and should stop the trade unless you did this for clicks and knew the condition going in. Each of these cars are only worth $12K if you have screwed engines - $20K if the engine is ok. Each of these cars requires at least $5K in garage bills even if the engines are ok. Good luck Jimmy!
FYI the reason the key is on the left side is from LeMans racing. That little split second as the driver was entering they could be starting the car as they were trying to get seated. Also P0300 is misfire fault. P030x indicated which cylinder is misfiring. Kitfox all the way
The ignition key on left of the steering column is a caryover from Porsche Racing teams and the Le Mans race. As the start flag would be waved, the drivers had to jump in their cars and start them to race through the tracks. The Porsche engineers later on realized that changing the location of the ignition to the left would save time as compared to that required for the traditional car start in Le Mans race. BTW the fifth Gen version of the 911 internally coded by Porsche as the 996 model launched in 1997 and was in production until 2006. This car was dubbed the "fried egg headlight" car and is the least desirable Porsche on the used market! The 996.1 version worse than the 996.2 Porsche affectionate hated the deveation from the classic round headlight and as you can see Porsche listened and in 2007 the round headlight returned and is still present today.
