I’m glad you posted this! Not everyone watches RU-vid everyday so even if we’ve heard some of these before, some of these I’ve forgotten about and appreciate the reminder 😊 loving this era of your channel!!! Pop off sis
Just a tip, get a mini dropper bottle for your vitamin C serums. Keep the original bottle in the fridge and tightly closed - decant a small amount into the mini bottle to keep in the bathroom and use daily. Vitamin C should be clear or champagne coloured and anything darker (unfortunately, like the colour of Marlena’s vitamin C in this video) means the product has oxidised.. making it much less effective! Geek and Gorgeous make a really good “dupe” of the skinceuticals vitamin C. It also has 15% l-ascorbic acid, ferulic acid and vitamin E and they sell a mini dropper bottle!
@@walkingbyfaith2885 Ole Henriksen’s vitamin C product is different to “traditional” vitamin C serums as it contains 3-O-Ethyl-Ascorbic acid (rather than l-ascorbic acid) which is a more stable form of vitamin C, extending its shelf life. If you’re worried about oxidation, this form of vitamin C seems to be the way to go.. however, I don’t think it has as much research behind it as l-ascorbic acid
I am same age as Marlena. I do similar steps except devices and I use other forms of retin A. When I went to a facial appt, I was told my skin looked great. These steps work😊❤
I love you, Marlena! I’ve been part of the fam for years! Congratulations on the channel growing and the new chapter of Makeup Geek. Thanks for the skincare advice!!
Im in my late 30s and have a very similar routine. When i go to get my facials, my facialist always says to keep doing what I'm doing. Between her and others who have known me for a very long time, they've all said how great my skin looks. I love how simple and happy Marlena is with her routine. It clearly works for her ❤
I’m always excited to click on your videos Marlena!! I appreciate your counsel and suggestions. My husband tells me that he likes to tease me a bit about my “skin routine” or my “preservative night measures”. I have been double cleansing for over 10 years and my skin is in very good condition to show for it. I’m not too old at 63 years and I’m not that old either, but I’m dedicated to giving my skin the care it needs and deserves. I always clean my makeup off no matter how tired I am. I always use good products with really good ingredients on my skin and spend a little extra for them. I love to wear makeup on most days but if I’m not leaving anywhere, I use a great moisturizer and spf and give my skin a break from cosmetics.
I wish I knew how to take care of my skin at a younger age. I’m 37 now and wearing SPF daily and using tretinoin regularly has made a huge difference! SPF is so important and I’m kicking myself for not wearing it more consistently at a young age.
You’re the best! Love your tutorials, and your humor. Newly retired- my husband and I were high school teachers for 32 years. I was a theatre teacher and director- I’ve heard you talk about being a former music teacher and how makeup served as your creative space. Well, I took that to heart and I changed up my skin and makeup routines and it’s truly been amazing. Thank you sweetheart! You rock!
1:22 I think it’s so important you put this as number 1. I had the exact same issue / didn’t know how effortlessly oil cleansers removed things like eyeshadow, liners etc. I used to destroy the delicate skin around my eyes with cleansers when I’d do any intense/colourful looks. Also since learning I’ve had the pleasure of passing this information on to people in the same boat. I know among makeup fanatics this is somewhat common knowledge but for those new to makeup/skincare or don’t consume a lot of content you are helping prevent unnecessary premature aging 💖
Thank you for sharing. I don’t trust a lot of people that lie about what they like for money. So thank you for your honesty. I’m going to try and do better on my skincare.
Thank u 1000 times over! We r the same age and I have been so lazy when it comes to skin care, literally up to age 40 😮 Routine was makeup wipes and moisturiser- feel like I have been VERY lucky not to have any major issues/signs or aging but I’m definitely taking better care skin now and find ur tips on both skin care and makeup super helpful ❤
Girllll you have no idea how much you inspire me! Such a beautiful truthful soul inside and out 🫶🏻💕 May I humbly give you a tip? Spoon out your honey with a wooden spoon, metal spoons will unalive the crucial enzymes in the jar 💕
I am 45. I am now very into skincare. I recently got a red light mask and I have switched to very gentle cleansers. I also love serums and moisturizers. I used to have very oily skin, so I also was afraid of oil when I was younger. Not anymore! I have to try that DIY lip scrub. I am struggling with very dry lips right now.
I haven’t finished watching the video and maybe you address this, but I hope you talk about fillers. Obviously filler on the under eye will make you look younger. It’s obvious you have it. When you fill in those sockets it tighten the skin on the under eye and the apples of the cheeks because it’s pulls the skin a bit. That’s also why pores may look less prominent. I wonder how you’d really look if you never had filler or Botox. See, youthfulness isn’t just good skin.
Pretty much every person doing anything with makeup does Botox and filler. And even if she did, it’s still more natural compared with others, they keep filling their lips bigger, or other features. And the way your skin looks has nothing to do with that.I had plxr under my eyes which took away puffiness, and wrinkles. Fillers can sometimes migrate. And I agree, don’t over do it. Personally I think she looks awesome for her age. And this is was more about skin, and staying healthy then looking young. :)
Hi Marlena! We love lactic acid too! Been using Amlactin for 12% lotion for years and many people thinks I'm 10 years younger than I am! Dermatologists love it too! You can find it at any drug store and there is one with Vitamin C too!😊
I'm a genetically youthful 70 years young woman and use the majority of your suggestions including Tretinoin 0.025%. It's the fountain of youth in a tube. I've used Retinol, then Retinaldehyde 10% for the past 4 years before seamlessly transitioning to Tretinoin 0.025%, I've not experienced much if any skin irritation. My Dermatologist can't believe the results on my skin. Before choosing your foundation, it's all about the prep and the right skincare. Without it, you will not achieve that flawless look we're all after. Good luck!
I love this!!!! 😩 I can only use my 0.025% tretnoin only once a week, my skin is THAT sensitive …. I’ve been using for 4 (FOUR!!!) years now and can STILL only do once a week 🤦🏻♀️ do you have any tips, tricks, help?!
I have the Actavis brand from my dermatologist just ask & they can call it in for you if it’s not covered by your insurance you can ask for the good rx card and it comes down to like $40 so weather it’s covered or not you can still get it 🤗
Thanks for sharing these great tips. After all that you've been through and all that you've shared, I trust you completely. I appreciate you so, so much !
Marlena I've been subscribed to your channel for years. From back when you were still living in California. I've always liked your skincare videos because your skin looks good. And because I like finding out about skincare products. I'm not sure why. But I've noticed over the years that people say some of the most negative things online. My mother used to say "If you ain't got nothing good to say then don't say nothing at all." My mother died decades ago when I was 19. However I decided to try and be as positive and encouraging as possible to people. People may be struggling with things that you don't know anything about. We should try and be kinder to one another. Especially with all the heartache, division, turmoil and strife that is going on in the world. I don't get why people have been so cruel and rude. So if you read this Marlena then know that there are people who are rooting for you and are supportive of you. I wish you, your family, staff and everyone in the comments the very best this holiday season. May it be filled with more joy, great peace, good health, many blessings and much abundance. And I'm gonna quote Tabitha Brown in saying "Have a good day. And if you can't then don't you dare go messing up somebody else's." We has a general society really should be more mindful of the words we say.❤
I cut out sugar, cut out rice, pasta, potatoes. Do I feel better? No! I lost 25lbs. But don’t feel any different. My husband takes the AG1- after researching- he said he doesn’t think it makes a difference for him but he likes the way it tastes. He has no hair so I can’t tell if his hair would look better though! 🤣
Thank you I didn’t know all these steps to do ❤ you teach me soemthing everytime you post .. thank you so much ❤❤ hubby and I have gone vegan/ vegetarian since June and he has lost almost 80 lbs ..
Great info - also drink water - hydrate! Decrease alcohol consumption (esp cocktails) and don’t wash your hair daily - it actually helps with overproduction of oil on face…. Thank you Marlena!
Phones are overpacked with germs, great to inform people to clean them. I only use AirPods and even clean those. I also use the Sunday Riley good genes lactic acid, total skin change with that. Glycolic acids aren’t good with my rosacea. So many great tips. Thank you
Love this!!! I seriously need a change in my skin care routine because of changing skin and of course getting older and now I know where to start. Thank you.💗
❤️✨I’ve seen comments that there is nothing “different” with your points… But isn’t that really the point? These are all great and solid changes, anyone can make. There is no magic pill consistency is the key.❤️✨
This is a great video and all your recommendations are effective! Half of this is in my routine already! YAY. Also consuming water really does hydrate and shows up on your skin. LOVED this!
I'm about to turn 44 the first week of March, and over the last 3-4 years my skins has changed completely, and not in a good way. I have always had very oily skin and VERY large, noticeable pores, especially my T zone and chin. This year I have noticed more signs of aging than ever in my life. Dark, inset under eyes, puff under eye 'pouches', and my skin is very dry under my eye, my upper eyelids, and the skin around my mouth. This is all despite cutting sugar and flour completely out of my diet 3 years ago. (Which, BTW, resulted in me loosing weight so quickly in the first 3 months without any exercise at all, that I HAD to start doing light muscle toning exercises to prevent loose skin everywhere. Seriously, the only weight lose plan I've ever been able to stick with because i literally saw IMMEDIATE results. Like, I had to buy smaller close every 1-2 weeks. I went from 182 lbs at 5'4" to 136 lbs in 11 months. The only change I made was cutting sugar and it's relatives + flour out. It sounds hard, but giirl dropping a full clothes size a week from the 2nd week was all the motivation I needed.) OK, back on topic, 😅 I have never heard of that T-something ingredient you said you get from your dermatologist, but I want to try it after seeing so many rab reviews by women my age. The problem I'm having is, I lost my job, and insurance, during the pandemic, and I no longer have insurance to cover seeing a dermatologist. Is it only available as a prescription? Or is there a lower concentration available in anything OTC? You are gorgeous BTW, we are the same age and I am learning so much from you. I WISH my skin looked as youthful and "supple" as yours! 😉 With limited income now and drastic aging signs becoming more and more obvious, it is having a serious impact on my self-confidence, my mental health, and my overall well-being. 😢
Im.64 and can testify to using Vitamin C and Lactic Acid by the Ordimary every single day. I have beautiful skin for being 64. I don't break out ever, don't have large pores, and I love The Ordinary. I also use Omnilux red light therapy every day!
Great video Marlena!! But what to do with the dreaded JOWLS 😩😫 It's as if they just came out of nowhere?!!! One day my skin looked perfect and everything was in it's place and next thing you know one day my face just looked very different and I couldn't figure out what was the problem and THEN I noticed it in a picture 😱😩😫 JOWLS!!! 😰😨😱 Any tips and tricks having to do with that please.
You perfectly described how it happens. Literally, you wake up one day and 🫠😱. Radiofrequency at the office and maybe a device to be used at home. Hope it helps🧛🏻♀️🖤
I just turned 44. I have been doing DIY clay masks for years and just incorporated vitamin c to my skincare routine. Wipe the cheek juice off your phones everybody! ❤❤
Has anyone found a cleansing oil or balm that doesn't leave your eyes cloudy after use? It's hard to avoid getting it into your eyes since you are melting down eye makeup. Or if that is not possible one that is good for sensitive skin.
Hello Marléna, 44 years old...Wow, you don't do them and very beautiful skin indeed. I make face masks on Sundays and I love it. Thanks for this tutorial😄😄😄
It’s only the growth hormones typically used that can cause dairy to irritate some people’s skin & can even affect cysts if you have endometriosis/pcos. My doctor recommended I buy organic when I can. So, completely cutting dairy out isn’t always necessary
I had acne into my 30s and cutting out dairy was the magical key to clear skin for me i swear...so many years of pharmaceuticals from the dermatologist that only partially worked and all i needed to do was stop consuming dairy!
Your skin looks amazing and you also have a good skin care routine. I learned about double cleansing, masking and skin care while researching and finding Korean skin care routine. Pores appear to have shrunk but they appear smaller because cleansing and exfoliating keep our pores cleared out of sebum, dead skin and dirt which makes them appear smaller! Yay! xx
Great video. I do all of these things too and definitely see the difference, though I use a different device (devices actually) than you. I'm 13 years older so I have a few extras you may not need yet, such as estrogen cream a couple nights a week, collagen supplements, and enzymatic cleanser instead of acid exfoliator every other time (1/wk enzyme and 1/wk glycolic instead of twice weekly glycolic anymore). Enjoy your lovely, ageless skin! Well earned.
Retinol is amazing, for anyone who is Nay Nay about it I started at 18 and am 37 now. Just find the right one that works for you. And glycolic acid, and that double cleanse heck yes kween!!! It changes eveything.
@marlena can you tell me the exact spelling of the skin device you had mentioned please and a big thanks for all of your amazing tips and honesty your truly wonderful beautiful person!
@@MarlenaStell I feel like I’m always cycling products so I never really get a feel for anything specific EXCEPT my snail mucin, retinol, anf niacinimide!
I absolutely LOVE your videos!!! I have been since back in the day😊. Wanted to know, what foundation primer do you love for silicone based foundations? Thank You!❤
58 yrs old and get alot of comments on how i look like i'm late 30's or early 40's i have used moisturiser on my face since i was 15 oil of olay pink bottle 😊. My daily routine as i age is Tatcha, i use the whole line and lucky thing is i can use afterpay on the website.
How is AG1 as compared to Green Vibrance? I’m guessing that AG1 probably tastes better because I always mix Green Vibrance into a Smoothie or juice. I’ve also considered trying probiotics from Green Smoothie Girl as I love doing their 9 Day Green Smoothie Challenges every Spring and Fall. I’ve seen the ads for AG1 and was very interested!!
The phone cleaning seems like such a no brainer but I believe not many people actually do this consistently. I use alcohol pads (the same kind I use before my medicine via injections) Even if you never put it up to your face (use headphones) can you imagine everything that builds up on your devices 😮
Marlena, what do use if your older then you ( I am 47) I didn’t take care of my skin earlier years but I am all about it now ! What shall I use ? My docter recently did prescribe retinal for me as I have always had these cysts on my face .. scrapped off it’s finally gone and not skin cancer.. dermatologist I was referred to still waiting on appt ! But I wanna get my skin in a healthy spot .. ❤
