been a subscriber to your channels for quite a while now. i just love you guys and appreciate your videos. i wanted to let you know that the production value of your videos has improved to a very professional standard. your editing skills have not gone un-noticed. keep up the great work and much love to you both and your families!!! and thank you for sharing.
@@pavlofromukraine Yes I've noticed that too Pavlo. Good on you buddy. Great to see you and Luba striving to make better lives for yourselves. Love you two... BTW for those veges they would be about $20 here in New Zealand in season, maybe more (its winter here). The quail eggs aren't readily available here. We pay about NZ$9 for a tray of 30 caged hen eggs and NZ$8 for a dozen free range hen eggs.
This videos are my favourite, when you show the city, beautiful places, your local markets and the real life style. I like that you support your local markets, they deserve this attention. Nice to see you again guys ♥️
That air raid siren right at the end is chilling. It's so sad that a few lunatics in the world want to spoil everything for everyone else. Be happy. Stay safe ✌
I am right now in Kyiv. I sleep very well despite air raid alerts. I have not seen a single destroyed house here all the weeks. Friends at home are more afraid that I am here.
@@hopebgoodone friend is originally from Yakutia in Siberia and worked 6 years in my company in Germany and has married in Mykolaev in Ukraine. Another friend was originally from Ukraine but live now in Russia. Not all Russians are totally brain washed.
@@grondinehamelin I know it's a tragedy. Australia is similar to Argentina in that we have strong agricultural resources, we also have an abundance of raw materials. A very large portion of what is made in China is made from Australian natural resources So really we should have strong industrial and agricultural economic activity, and everything from food to electricity to industrial goods should be very cheap But Australia, just like the USA and all other western countries has sold itself out to globalism and now even two incomes isn't enough to support a family. Ironically I basically just described why Putin is fighting NATO in Ukraine
Very interesting to see how you created some lovely food from the local market produce. It's nice to see you living in peace there, wish the best of luck to you both.
Pavlo, congratulations on this video, it's amazing, your skills have developed so much from the first video to now it's amazing how skillful you are. Much love to you and Luba, please stay amazing.
Great looking veggies & eggs ! The prices are so reasonable ! A trip to our farmers market for similar items would have been around $15.00. Quail eggs, if you could find them, would be very expensive !
In Sweden is makes sense that youd pay $29 it's a socialist country afterall where everything is going to be inflated. Here In Canada it'd prob cost you $12. That's why people need to understand the negatives of socialism. Sure school and healthcare is free. But you'll be paying loads for produce and rent so does it even matter when you can barely survive?
SlapShotRegatta, next logical question would be what's your average wage/salary/payment in Ukraine? Answer: not very high, so it's not as cheap as you may think for regular Ukrainians especially now when lots of people lost their jobs. Also almost everybody in Ukraine has a garden. My dad said they were having big harvest this year probably except of wheat because Russian herd is burning wheat in this war purposely. My dad was trying to sell out ORGANIC cherries and nobody wanted to buy them because again they are having lots of cherries this year. It's good Ukrainian soil is so rich, this year Ukrainians will be having problems with heating their homes but at least won't be hungry
Great to see that so many people there can still grow vegetables and sell them on the street ! Your Dinner looked very healthy . Thanks for sharing and stay safe !
Hello from Edinburgh in Scotland.Hope you guys are doing OK.Find your videos very interesting . It's interesting to see how people live in other countries. Our prices are crazy high compared to yours so enjoy your prices.
Greetings from Michigan, USA! In my neighborhood right now for $2, you'd only be able to buy 6 ears of corn out of your purchase. All of that would be $15-$20 here. Prices very reasonable there buying direct. Take care. Wife and I love your videos. Parents very cool also.
Der eindruck, Die Produkte seien preiswert, billig täuscht. Man muß bedenken, wie wenig auch die Einkünfte in diesem Wirtschaftsraum sind, dann sind die Preise im Verhältnis ausgewogen
That would be about 10-12 usd in Romania, easily. Bought from local farmers of course, the ones from the supermarket are more expensive and usually less tasty.
A lovely presentation. It's so nice to see you both so happy. I hope so much that Ukraine will once again become peaceful and the war will end with Ukraine even stronger.
We don’t have open farmer markets here in Price Utah where we live but we’ve been eating fresh garden vegetables for about a month now. FYI corn is native of the America’s. Thanks for the video Pavlo. Praying for this insane war to end and you and your family’s safety and well being
In the US we pay exorbitantly to walk into a well lit store with perfectly shaped and colored foods.. but I'll take 2$ for groceries over what we have any day
In Ukraine actually the prices are not so low, but here Pavlo has shown the purchase of produce at the sidewalk, which is tax-free and basically illegal to be sold. But the country can do nothing about it, as people performing this are usually pensioners, that need some money to survive. Although the quality of such products is often better, than at a supermarket. Also you should consider, that due to the war, the US dollar has strengthened relatively to UAH and people have no choice, as to sell cheaper, because the purchasing power has gotten lower, despite fuel for example has become much more expensive.
You also have to consider that in some sense the prices and commodity of Ukraine is also subsidized by billions of US and euro dollars via military aid packages that make it possible for them. There's hidden costs in everything when you get down into it.
@Adora Tsang No, Ukrainians only earn around ~$6500 a year, which makes Ukraine the poorest country in Europe. In India people earn $2500 a year(as poor as many African countries) but i earn $11000 as an engineer which is almost 5 times more than an average indian.. but $11k is still very low compared to incomes in Western Europe and North America. Where are you from and how is the life there ?!? 🙂
@Adora Tsang I was at Safeway (Hawaii) in July and saw exorbitant prices compared to Germany or Italy. I can see how many Americans prefer frozen meals or take away... two vegetables/tuna sandwiches would have costed us almost 30$ plus the time for preparing the ingredients. This is just out of the world...
I need to shop at local markets more often, I spent way too much at supermarkets for fruit and vegetables that aren’t as fresh. A cob of corn in Kyiv is 25uah just for 1.
Hello Pavlo and Luba. Thank you for sharing this video. WOW $2.00 that is a lot of vegies. Here in Australia, they want $10.00 for a lettuce. That is so crazy. Love and Blessings to you both. Doris 🇦🇺🦘
LUBA it is very nice of you to let your camera man talk so much, AND, you even hold the camera, so he can feel important. But the entire world knows that these are YOUR videos. Serious now, I'm glad you guys are supporting locals, who bring their produce to the market and share with everyone. Good for you !
I had a smile all the way through! Super healthy meal. ❤️ In London it's not always cheaper in the market, than the grocery store/supermarket or better quality, because it's far from the countryside - but - you eat healthier as there are no tempting chocolates, cakes and sweets! But some thing's like avocados, garlic, bell peppers, they can be good value. I think for 2$ that was incredibly good value and I'd love to shop so efficiently! 🌱😊
Love your Slanina. I am making the same from my pig in California. Not many here appreciate that. Nobody sells it, really. Corn here is cheap, garlic, but small pickling cucumbers are hard to find, you almost have to grow your own. In this area are vast almond, pistachio and walnut orchards. The vineyards go all the way to the horizon, and wine is cheap and good.
I was raised on quail eggs and meat here in the Southern USA along with a lot of rabbit we raised for meat. I'm glad to see you are eating good. Better times and prices I pray by Spring.
In Ukraine, many can no longer afford it, only water and canned food sometimes. The government steals money, huge corruption, even humanitarian aid is not given to many.
I can get enough rice for a week on the equivalent of $2. I could probably buy the potatoes instead of rice. But not both. The only thing you have there that I've bought in the past few years is tomatoes. Locally grown, bought from the farm truck.
People in Europe are rotting themselves, with crazy gas, crazy food prices because of the Russia invasion, i dont know what kind of war is it when you eat better and cheaper than europeans
Ukraine is a very cool place. And you two are two very cool ambassadors. I could see someone from the US retiring to Ukraine and being able to east well on very little money.
I'm a 68 yo disabled US Army veteran in Washington state living check to check and paid $120 on two bags of groceries and $70 on 14 gallons of gas. August 2022. Love you guys, take care!
Pensioners in Ukraine get very little every month and for them everything is expensive, so stop bitching and complaining .you have it pretty good in America .
Gas is still so cheap in the USA compared to West Europe where a gallon would easily cost you around 10 bucks. Not even talking about the groceries... Consider yourself very lucky! And coming from a military family of course I gotta thank you for your service sir 🇺🇸
Your meal looks good and healthy, and the prices are good. In the USA our groceries are crazy. Prices keep going up. But there are some grocery stores that have good prices still. Thanks for your video. It's good to see you are both doing well. Have a wonderful week!!
The products look amazing and the prices are incredible. Only a kilo of tomatoes, depending on the market is around 3,00 to 3,50€ in Munich at the moment. The air raid siren at the end is an eery reminder of how Russia it's still trying to annihilate a country and its people. Stay safe, healthy and happy!
The prices in big cities would be higher as well in Ukraine. Also almost everybody has a garden in Ukraine to provide for their families. And we are having a good harvest this year!
If Russia wanted Ukraine wiped of the map, it would already been. Ukraine nationalist should not have fought their own (Russian speaking) citizens for over 8 years and instead should have implemented the Minsk agreement. West and NATO wanted this, now normal people suffer. Learn the facts.
@@ironkcoony I hope Pavlo will quickly delete your disrespectful and ignorant comment (and mine together with it). Nothing justifies launching a war of aggression and committing war crimes. Blaming the victim and third parties is not only stupid but also shameful. You should not try giving lessons to anyone but learn decency yourself.
@@yndividual1 following your logic, Germany was a victim in 1944 when the Allies landed at Normandy. You are ignoring everything that happened before. Didn’t Ukrain fight its own citizens in Donbas? 14000 dead in 8 years? Didn’t Ukraine refuse to commit to the Minsk treaty? Russia drawing a line was inevitable and also the goal of western powers. Ukraine will be used and sacrificed, just as the west always does. My grandparents were Ukrainian and Russian and I fucking mad how the west again and again enforces it’s interest on the back of innocent people. Wake up and look at the facts.
Many Thanks Pavlo for showing to us your beautiful country. I´m from south Brazil , and I must say that I find many similarities on our culture although many differences as well. I find the ukrainian way of life pretty much like ours from south brazil.
Cool idea - I’ll see if we can go to the local farmers market and will let you know how much we can get for $2! Thanks for continuing to share your typical days with us, it’s very interesting!
Really enjoy your videos and glade to see Luba smiling I have a small farm in pennsylvania in Amerrica and we live off the land and like seeing others enjoying fresh veggies.
Pavlo, Luba yes, well done. Whatever you cant harvest from your own garden go and buy from locals. Its may be cheaper but on the other hand you support the locals as well, so both of you are somehow satisfied. I am sure you dont need imported food and of course, sometimes but very rare you can visit Mackes (australian slang for McD) as well just to verify that homegrowing food is much much better.
Damn just 3 potatoes cost me $ 2.50 in Florida (which I thought was cheap. Inflation is insane here, everything is going up so fast in price. Houses , cars, food , it's crazy.
I need to look into the cost of hiring a translator and language instructor because Ukraine looks like an amazing place! Without knowing the language I would imagine it would be impossible to function there. Stay safe you two!!
It would be possible . Young people especially they speak really good English! And older generation they are really friendly so even if they could not understand they would still be helpful
It's really not so hard - in the cities and even smaller towns, you can usually find an English speaker - especially among the young. The phone translator is a good idea as well - and if you're thinking to learn a language - well, Russian is probably the most practical... just in case. Please don't hate me, Ukrainians.... but when Ukraine wins the war, they probably won't force everyone to speak Ukrainian, like the Russians do with their language! HEROYAM SLAVA! PEREMOHA UKRAYINY!
@@edfederoff2679 I have talked many times with it. It needs practising because you have to first think what you are saying. One sentence at a time. Maybe not the optimal solution in a market place.
Praying for you all. What a beautiful city, and the markets are lovely. Sadly we would probably pay $15-$20 at a local market for all that, minus the quail eggs. We live in upstate NY. God bless you all.
But also your salaries are much higher. Another reason why veggies and fruits are so "cheap" because everybody has a garden and grows what they need for winter. The last reason is the harvest is really good this year, thanks God people won't be hungry.
Battles continue at the East and South, in other places people continue to live. But often the air alarm goes off and rockets arrive. You now, after 5 monts of war you get used to it, to air alarms, and just continue to live.
You could live in Germany 1944 and barely get the impression that a war is going on and coming to an end. You really overestimate the dependencies when living a simple life. Thats why sanctions will hit long time later.
I live in Minnesota, and you would get a fraction of that for $2.00. Last weekend I bought one large white onion, and it was $2.00 at a large, local grocery chain store. I'm with the Michigan person below. All that would cost $15 plus here. All you need now is some sort of meat for a great meal. My wife is of Slovenian decent, and she would sour those cucumbers. Slice thin. Add sliced onions. A generous amount of pepper. Then mix with vinegar and oil. She may also add a pinch of sugar. I'm not sure. Best to cover and let sit overnight in refrigerator before eating.
The ending of the video with the air raid siren was very ominous of the times we live... scary to think this could happen in the rest of Europe and even in my country 🇺🇸 Were those quail eggs tasting any good? Be safe you two!
Does the produce come into the city fresh every day? It looks very good! You both present very nice videos for us to watch, thank you! Ron from USA, Minnesota
Reminds me of Warsaw, Poland in 2006. I could buy honey on the street from private vendors. Unfortunately, that all changed when the government demanded that people have a vendor's license. The good old days.
I lived in a small village in ukraine on the border of transnistria.. the market was so cheap compared to here. I am now in england, in a supermarkets its would cost around 450 UAH for the food you have in this video. the quality of taste is so much better in ukraine fresh home grown vegetables and fruits even meat.
Hi Pablo and Luba we do have Farmers Market. The farmer’s bring all their produce or meat 🥩 to market. In most instances this food is more healthy than food you buy in store. Food you buy in store is full of chemicals or raised by large corporations. These companies more interested making money 💰 than providing healthy food. If you good to health store you will find healthy food 🍲. If I live in your country I would always buy from local people. Safer I think.
Wow, you would be shocked at our prices in Canada. The tomatoes would cost about 4 dollars or two dollars a pound. You would be lucky to find the corn for maybe 50 cents for one or two dollars for four on special . Here it is sometimes more expensive to go to the farmers market than to the grocery store to buy strawberries etc. I like your videos on food , & when Luba is cooking and even when you went to your local thrift stores very interesting. I have made Luba’s soup with beets…it is “some good”. Thanks for sharing your country and life with us. Stay safe.
Well then you should grow your own..I am in Canada too..all I buy in the store is non food...the rest can grow outside...but as most Canadians are fuck lazy and rather sit all summer at the lake they need to go buy food ...
now the tiktok video of that ukrainian women that tells other ukrainians to drive to germany grab the 3500€ of refugee help and drive back to ukraine makes sense..............
Hey, Pavlo and Luba, great shopping, you guys got some really good deals and the produce looks really really good. I am getting hungry just watching this video. You both look really good and making the best of a bad situation. I love your community, nice that you can shop locally. Luba looks so pretty. Take care until the next video. Uh oh was that sirens I hear?? Stay safe. Slava Ukraini. Dawn and Mike from Minneapolis, USA.🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
Comparable Michigan supermarket prices where some items are in season for lower prices. US inflation affecting everyone. 5 ears of corn=$2.95, 2lbs potatoes=$2.80, 2lbs salad cucumbers=$2.96, 1.5lbs tomatoes=$3.29, 1lb peaches=$1.80, 1 dozen large chicken eggs=$3.39, 1 bunch dill weed=$1.69. TOTAL=$18.88
I just looked up how much it would cost where I live in Australia for the exact things you got. It came to just over $58 AUD, so that's about $41 USD. Groceries, especially fresh fruit, vegetables, meat etc are so expensive here at the moment. With the floods and other supply issues it's also difficult to find fresh things in some areas. It was wonderful to see what you bought and what you made. We'll get peaches here in the next few months when it gets warmer, I'm looking forward to that.
2 usd is 1.66 gbp. You can buy 3 cucumbers for that in a supermarket. Not even organic ones. A pack of 6 peaches would be about £2, so more than the cost of all your purchases there
Pavlo< Can you show us how to make salo? I love salo but never made it. It is very expensive specialty more costly than Ribeye steak ( 46 USD / one Kilo)
@@pavlofromukraine One day I was in a Slavic restaurant in Sacramento and had amazing borscht, fresh bread and salo for the first time. There are many people who live in Sacramento from Ukraine, Russia, Serbia and Croatia. There are a few Serbian churches, Ukraine and Russian communities and until recently a Russian AM radio station ( in Russian) . Most of these people are in groups and know each other. One day I met man at a local hardware store who recently moved from Siberia as a Beekeeper. This is an agricultural area and bees are very important to pollinate the crops. One unfortunate thing I do not understand is that highly trained engineers from Ukraine or Russia have credentials and degrees that are not recognized! Too bad. So these people have to work in different trades. Physics, calculus and statistics are not based on language or culture. The integral and trig functions are the same in all languages!
Salo (food) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The Slavic word "salo" or "salanina" as applied to this type of food (it has other meanings as well) is often translated to English as "bacon" or "lard". Unlike lard, salo is not rendered. Unlike bacon, salo has little or no lean meat. It is similar to Italian lardo, the main differences being the thickness of the cut (lardo is often sliced very thinly) and seasoning. East Slavic salo uses salt, garlic, black pepper and sometimes coriander in the curing process, while lardo is generally seasoned with rosemary and other herbs.
