Hey Aaron, I was your opponent game 4. Just wanna say you are the one who got me into vgc about 10 or so years ago so it was a big honor to get to play you :). I've started taking vgc more seriously since SV and have been going to tournaments. Thanks for inspiring and teaching me hopefully we can meet at an IC or play again sometime :).
QOTD: giving base forme rotom prankster as a hidden ability could be cool! a ghost prankster other than sableye and mega banette could give it a real purpose outside the secondary formes
QOTD: I would buff Banette. Right now I don't really see anything this Pokémon can do reasonably well, which is unfortunate, because it has such a cool and creepy design.
@@egrettacaerulea it has Prankster and a respectable attack stat, but the defenses are really lacking on both ends. Wolfe used it back in the days to win a regionals with a full support set in ORAS which means pre-nerfed Destiny Bond. Not having an item to hold is really holding it back it feels like, also making it your 1 mega per game feels like too expensive of an opportunity cost
@@egrettacaerulea Debatable. It has access to Prankster + Destiny Bond and also a really high attack stat, which is both great. However, it's still slow, frail and has quite a limited physical movepool with only getting STAB on ghost type attacks. I still like it, but I'll be honest, there are probably a lot better megas (Salamence, Kangahskan and Mawile to name a few). Since you can only use one Mega, it's hard to justify using it on Banette if you care about winning. However Megas don't even exist in current day Pokémon, but I think they will return in the next games (at least so I've heard).
@sandwich4763 In Legends Z-A? Absolutely. Megas have already been announced. In Gen 10? If they introduce new megas in PLZA, they'll most likely want to let you use them in their keystone games. (That doesn't mean they won't wait for DLC expansions.)
Yo Aaron, can you read Kanji? Or have you just seen the names so much you can recognize them? Its always really cool to see you know what pokemon is coming out to battle just based on the name. either way really impressive! Love the content man!
QOTD: I'd make a fog weather condition that increases the critical hit chance of all ghost type pokemon and moves by 50%, so essentially any Ghost type using STAB has a 100% Crit rate while the weather is active.
I didn't even know Trevenant was in Scarlet and Violet. >_< I used to enjoy Skill Swapping Harvest to G-Max Snorlax in Gen 8 as a gimmick. Sometimes you'd eat the same berry three times in a turn.
I wasn't sure if it was you that I fought yesterday until this video dropped. I'm glad that I got the chance to play against you even if I wasn't an interesting opponent to face
I've always loved Chandelure's design. Glad to see it here. Sad to not see Gengar, but I get that it's mostly underrated/fewer seen Pokémon. Opening music is on point 🤘🏽
Last time I answered QotD, you asked for an ice type to buff and I said Frosslas...tempted to pick that again because I like it a lot, but I'm gonna say Jellicent, it's so close to being a really solid bulky support pokemon, but it just falls short. Most of all I'd say replace it's hidden ability with just about anything that's genuinely useful for that role? Maybe give it a few points in defence while they're at it... doesn't really even need particularly more support moves than it's fairly impressive Gen VIII list, although instead of a HA update, Rage Powder or Follow Me would launch it up in viability, possibly a bit too far even.
I would buff golurk by giving it the ability power spot. I'd probably give it wide guard as well. Could be a cool option that could both support and dish out damage
Hey guys wake up! Aaron "CYBERTRON" Zheng is back with another episode of road to rank, where he climbs the online H VGC ladder and provides live commentary as he goes! 😱
QOTD: Froslass could be really cool if it was just a touch better in any stat. If it's SpA was just a touch higher OR it's bulk was just a bit thicker it would be waaay more useful.
QotD: Why not all of them! Ghost is desperately lacking a good, reliable physical STAB move so how about Shade Smash. "The user jumps from the victim's shadow and attacks" 90BP, 100ACC, and hits enemies behind a substitute. Nothing crazy, just a reliable move to click with a niche but useful secondary effect
QOTD: Gengar received Nasty Plot this gen, but isn't enough, it needs Levitate again as second ability or even Shadow Tag Also I think the nerf on Mimikyu disguise was completely unnecessary, they also should reverse that nerf, almost no one uses Mimikyu nowdays
I have a team rn with Annihilape Gholdengo and Bloodmoon, as well as a tera ghost Kilowattrel for some spice, and so far it’s 11-0 on Showdown bo3 ladder. Pretty fun stuff. Glad to see a team that goes full on the spooooookiness though.
Hi there! Im excited to watch Aaron "cybertron" Zhang here back with another episode of road to ranked where you climb the online regulation H vgc ladder in pokemon Scarlet and Violet. With live commentary as he goes. Spoopy pokemon time! 🎃
Great Halloween theme! I actually want an Ariados buff. Spiders are fast! Give it at least 100 speed and also 100 in both attacks! For all Ghosts in general I would actually nerf the move Knock Off, so that it doesnt do bonus damage to Ghost types who get their items Knocked off.
I would buff Seed Bomb. 2 years ago, it was nerfed to take 6 Shadow Claws to reach instead of 5. This nerf drastically reduced the viability of the move and it's most prominent user, Trevnant. I truly miss the days of Trev's dominance in Pokemon GO. Bring back 5 Shadow Claw Seed Bomb!
I will buff Gengar with levitate and by the way Dusknoir, I will give him a new ability, an intimidate type ability but for special attack. While this, taking 10 points of his sp.Def to his HP.
Ghost buff? Dusknoir. It's less bulky than Dusclops with Eviolite without any real offensive benefit cause it's only 100 attack and physical ghost moves are scarce. My proposed buff would be to give it 20 more base HP so it can at least have a bit of bulk to go with the offensive investment, and then give it a strong ability, either something like Shadow Tag or Magic Guard to ignore Life Orb recoil, or even Sheer Force if you wanna make use of all that coverage it has in its moveset
i would buff runerigus by giving it 65 hp and 105 attack and give it headlong rush because its funny and runerigus doesnt get any physical one hit ground moves
