I also believe colonization had a lot to do with the lack of knowledge especially when it comes to our own natural hair but it's amazing now we are slowly embracing our natural hair and learning more about it from creators like you,you are doing an amazing thing and welcome to Kenya Adanna!!!

I loved this! Love that you ended by washing the little girls hair🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Can't wait for part 2. On my first trip to Sierra Leone, I did Senegalese Twist on girls hair in the village just outside Freetown. They were surprised by my natural hair! Please come with part 2❤

that's exactly what I'm thinking as I watch this video, there's no way that pre-colonization they didn't have a method to properly cleanse. and I'm sure they definitely had ways to condition the hair.

The braids came out beautiful. Very neat and put together. My hair is on the fine side. I would definitely need a leave in conditioner but I think I would like to try and experience what you did. I am from Cuba but my ancestors are from Sierra Leone. I have been working on growing my natural hair for years. It's a process. I haven't been always confident rocking my natural hair so that too is a process. Thank you for your tutorials and showing how beautiful our natural hair is. ❤

@@AdannaMaduekeAfter seeing you video, love it and what you're doing for black girls. To you good health and good wealth.I'm puzzled of no raw stuff used (like leaves , oils) . I grew up seeing raw stuff used (colonization messed up the mother land bad). Europeans and people from the US I've heard call this style french braid ,but in St. Lucia ( in the Caribbean) we call it inside cornrow and wrong side cornrow .

I think this village is a "large minority" but does not represent all of Africa, because there are many other countries and villages in Africa known for their hair care and their beautiful hair, you just chose the wrong place ☺ It would be good if you went to West Africa (Senegal, Mali, Mauritania: Peulh), Central Africa (Chad, Cameroon: Fang-Beti, Congo) or even South West Africa (Namibia, Angola: Himba, Mbalantu) or even East Africa (Ethiopia, Afar, Sudan,...) in places where people are really known for their hair 😉☺
