The only time I’ve seen an auditorium separate in the US is in places like California and Florida, where most of the schools buildings are separated anyway. I always love hearing about the differences in Australia!!
My Midwestern middle school had a separate building for the auditorium, and it was originally built as the high school before they built the one I went to
All yours and James’s comments about Australian schools really sound familiar to my experience in schools in England - I imagine it’s probably because obviously there’s a lot of English influence in Aus but it’s interesting how much more similar I’ve found you guys’ videos than American simmers builds!
I went to school in the UK, we called it the hall too. It was used for assemblies, plays, and exams. In primary school, the hall was everything - lunch, assemblies, plays, P.E classes. In high school, before our prom, we had drinks and photographs in the school canteen! 😬
@@sol_in.victus it’s one of those American things that the UK adopted. All the kids saw prom on tv and thought it looked really cool and wanted to go so schools slowly started adopting it. When my parents when to school in the UK they had nothing like prom but now lots of schools do their own prom style dance.
I'm from Wisconsin, USA. I've never seen carpeting in a school. Even trying to imagine what that would look like after two days of 8 inch snow & slush makes me anxious. We had linoleum, tile & hardwood.
I do think Art Deco is sort of a weird theme for a school pack? You’d think it either be like ultra modern, 70s brutalism or like an old fancy style (I guess the uni pack already did that). I know they wanted to do something different but I guess idk what an appropriate style would be
@@somerandomviewer7803 I agree! So lavish, they did use the Art Deco for the Glamour stuff pack as well, the one that came with butlers. I did like the mid century vibes that came with get famous but Art Deco would’ve been so good
I kinda like the Art Deco. I mean it’s not common in real life but I think it’s kinda got this old trendy teenage vibe. I just feel like the places you can make with the items in the pack really seem like places teenagers would want to hangout at. And I’m saying this as a teenager myself. And if you want to build a different style of school or whatever there’s already a lot of items in the base game and other packs that you can easily use for it and also there are a good amount of items in the high school pack that you could fit into other style builds. I really like it. I think it’s fun and interesting and makes for lots of cool builds. The Art Deco style works really well for the pack.
My high school was huge! Two stories, 5 buildings, not including the auditorium, library, the (humongous) gymnasium & locker rooms. There was also a football field, a baseball field, and just an empty field in the back where we’d run the mile for PE.
Imagine you are the student stage manager for the winter play & some jerk brought the enormous table sized potted plants up onto the stage & just left then there. I can guarantee you I would have found who ever was responsible for that & made them move the plants.
When I went to American school. The auditorium is not in a separate building for me it’s always has been in the school. Their were only chairs and stage in there. And also obviously the backstage dressing rooms and the bathrooms. auditorium were only use for performances and when we needed to be there.
My high school had an external layout where every building was detached from the rest, but classrooms were grouped by subject; like, we had a science building with multiple classrooms and a separate math building. I think that layout is more common in areas with a mild climate. Enclosed schools tend to be more common in colder areas

Floracents popular due to its Kelvin and Luminace ratings :)! Interior designer here, and that’s florescents biggest asset. Able to provide large amounts of task specific lighting in areas such as this and commercial settings. However, intergratred LEDs are replacing them rapidly today, as well as CFL which is a more efficient fluorescent.
I’ve never heard of a school that had a hall (maybe the private schools do?), everything was always in the gym. Everything. But my high school did have a “drama room” that was a small auditorium(? a room where like guest speakers could use) as well, but it could only hold like two classes so it didn’t get used much as anything but a tableless classroom lol
In my high school (Canada), we had an auditorium for assemblies, plays, dance recitals, etc., so it had a proper stage and built-in seating. We had two gymnasiums as well but they were only used for gym classes and exam rooms during exam periods. Our school dances were held in the main foyer for some reason. And it was all in one building as well. It was built in the 70s so I don't know if this is really a thing anymore, or if my high school was kind of weird in the first place.
Different parts of the us have different types of schools (indoor, outdoor, attached, detached) it depends on the climate or what kind of natural disasters occur in that area
My high school was all one big building. One half of the building had a gym, an auditorium (which was used for plays/assemblies), and a sunken cafeteria in the middle which was also where dances were. Most classes were on the 2 story side of the building except art. And we had a football field with a track, which now has a tennis court as well. The only separate buildings were the portables for some classes and a seminary building (religious classes) which wasn't on the lot due to laws.
@@rachelcookie321 most auditorium style places include little kitchen spaces for events! Such as a prom, formal, meetings etc, not a full blown kitchen usually just a sink and some counters
@@jenfcheck oh, my school auditorium doesn’t have a kitchen. There’s a kitchen in the staff room and the cafeteria if they needed to make food for something. And the huge kitchens for food technology classes. You wouldn’t really be able to make much food with just two counters and a sink. I don’t think that’s enough if you’re trying to make more than a couple sandwiches.
I was just thinking, are there any new job types with this pack? Because "working at a bubble tea/thrift shop" should definitely be one of the teen part-time jobs, at the very least.
Unfortunately not, but probably someone will create a mod with more careers, I think that careers like principal and teacher (playable) should be a thing too
In my school here in the UK we had an Atrium, which was mostly used for as seating for the cafeteria, but we had some events there, but was mostly used for lunch breaks. We had gym and theatre separately.
Fun high school fact. I went to a private girls school and one of the buildings was built with the proceeds of a lottery win from the nuns. It was called the lottery building.

I have built an auditorium in one of my old saves, part of an high school, before the announce of « high school years » pack. I made it with the platform’s tool and built it on two floors ( was a pain to make actually XD)
I went to a school in the US that had a VERY robust theater program. Like, some schools invest all their money in the football program, ours was all in on the theater program. So our auditorium was like the crown jewel of the school and similar in size and set up to a small, off broadway theater. Fun fact, Gaten Matazarro from Stranger Things went to the same high school as me. I graduated a good 10 years before him but he was in the theater program there and I saw him in a few of the plays.
the rounded roof is like a quonset hut! Classic. my small-town American "auditorium" was also the gym and cafeteria! until they built a second gym after i graduated. so yeah, a very all-purpose space.
I'm from Alaska and my high school was small with only 300 students. I can't imagine going to one of those giant multi-story schools with thousands of kids.
my school had an auditorium right by the main entrance, but it was also used for a lot of community events and presentations. also we had 2 gyms, one big main one and a smaller one towards the back of the school. i can’t even imagine trying to build it in game! 😅
i love this build! maybe deli can build the other options of this lot. I would love to see her version of the graduation, prom and career day decor :))
I think I would have gone over to that school and taken what was built there and transfer it over to the Auditorium Lot.. maybe make it a bit smaller scale.. That way both the School and Auditorium would have been built from the same form.. having the same decor.
The auditorium looks so good!!! ☺ I love the style. And I hope you're in to creating all the different stages, but if I'd had to pick one it would be career day. I can imagine it being more of a creative challenge then the other two.
This is such an adorable auditorium Deli, and fits in so well with your high school build. I especially love the curved roof and skylights 😍 Like you, when I went to high school here in QLD we just had an auditorium which was multipurpose and used for performances, indoor sports activities, and usually the dreaded place we would go for injections. I remember fainting (as I always do with blood tests and injections automatically) one time there and waking up in the vice principles arms, he was carrying me outside and towards sickbay, that was a funny experience 😂🤣 In regards to primary school... Gosh, thinking back I don't believe we had an auditorium or any such place. All performances, meetings, etc. were usually held in the church attached to the school grounds and any indoor sport activities would usually be done outside still, but on the large concrete multipurpose court. If it was raining we would do it where we ate lunch under the patio areas and just move the seating for room. I remember once we actually were learning line dancing for sport in primary school and ballroom dancing another in high school. They were always my favourites, though many of my fellow high school peers would groan at ballroom dancing, I adored it 😂
The auditorium isn't something I remember of my highschool or the Dutch equivalent I attended. Schoolfestivities where in the sportshall or the schoolcanteen. And that isn't a cafetaria like you see on tv. You could buy something to drink, soup and candy. We brought our own lunch and eat it in there as well.
I'm also Dutch but my highschool did have an auditorium (aula as we say in Dutch). It has a pretty big stage and backstage area and used for events sometimes, but usually is just had tables and seating to eat lunch at. Edit: we also didn't have a cafetaria. Just a small counter to buy some snacks.
my old school had an auditorium but it was rarely used, mostly for just events that doesn’t require the whole school or year to be in there, we do have a quadrangle though where almost every single event is done, you know, during a 30 degrees celcius weather under the blazing sun because my school HATED us 😅😂😂
@@rachelcookie321 lmao i don’t know if that’s actually a thing or just our school, but it’s basically between all school buildings for elementary and high school and idk how to explain it but it basically have an outdoor gym for intrams week or sports week, and a huge assembly area big enough for the whole school to fit in when needed

This looks amazing! Just wondering, how do you transfer this basis to the other 'lot types' like the formal dance and graduation. For me those setups will still have the old building 😢
I live in America and let me just say that the high school in The Sims is very much unrealistic for me personally because my high school and middle school and elementary School were all laid out flat and they were one story and it was outdoors and so there's definitely not a lot of schools that look like that in America.

In my high school the auditorium is connected to the school. It is used for plays, drama class, assembly, dance shows, and club pictures for the year book.
