I do this as well and it will cut ur nail time in half when ur doing long nails and u just wanna be done… it can feel like it takes FOREVERRRR. Also you should do do really good prep to make sure the gel stays on, idk what kinda Prep he did.
Lol please let Brad give Cristine a nice clean flattering below-shoulder cut that'll be easy to maintain and look full and thick and take years off (literally some of that longest hair must be older than some of her viewers haha)
To be fair, you mess up your nails and it usually doesn't cause damage. Just remove it and try again. Hair color has damaging chemicals. You mess up and its a big deal...
I think he encourages people to do things at home more than anyone I've seen. Most hairdressers are gatekeepers about hair, and he actually gives out advice and let's people know when they do it on their own how good it looks. Thats the main reason I adore him. He's brutally honest and let's people know how to do it themselves and love it.
Loving this video, you did really well! Nail tech here: You are meant to rough up the surface as gel doesn't like smooth surfaces so they will most likely chip. To stop the fuzzies get lint free wipes. For a first time ombre-ing you did amazingly and opposite hand to your dominant hand is always a pain 😊😊😊
Lets switch it up this time.. Brad, if ur reading this then "Hey amazing beautiful person that always makes my day more creative and better! 😃" u always call us beautiful at the start of the vid, you deserve it back :)
When I’m doing my own acrylics, I always start using my Non-dominant hand (left) and working on my dominant hand (right). So that way, when I’m halfway done and usually completely over it at that point, the second half goes by easier and quicker.. and I’m not totally dreading it.
Yes watching people doing their nails gives me so much joy!! Honestly love the mix up in content :) especially since it relates to fashion / self expression / creative
@@MaowTseTung saying things like this or "why are gay boys so cute and adorable" (your other comment on this video) isn't attraction, it's fetishizing gay men. it's not a compliment either, it's just weird.
@@skyalexis02 They might mean that they are attracted to guys that happen to be gay because they might like their attitude, personality, or the way they carry themselves, not because they want a guy that likes men, that would be fetishizing
“What is she using? I don’t have that stuff, but oh well” and “ makeup brushes are the same “……😮😮 the nail tech in me is cringing so badly! Now I know how brad feels when he watches people doing their own hair 😂😂😂😂
Brad watching other people do their hair: "Just go to a professional" Brad doing his own nails: "I just can't justify going to a professional" haha love him tho
*Brad about nail salons*: I don’t like making an appointment and I don’t like sitting there *Brad in every other video about DIY hair*: Why don’t you just go to the salon?!
Agreed.. however! Generally hair is one of the first things people see about you annnddd it lasts way longer than nails do. I personally am happy to pay for GOOT hair while I do my nails myself. 👍
Hair is. Far more different then nails you people are freaking strange if think. Hair solans are over priced bleaching is a lot work. So it should be a little spendy it’s not easy. People need stop being so cheap about crap if can’t afford oh well it happens save up I always do
I'm a gel nail tech and I want everyone to understand that we not only went to school but spent countless hours and years perfecting our craft! So to say you don't want to pay / spend the money that comes with the skill and talent really saddens my heart. Us nail techs work just a hard as hairdressers or anybody else in the Cosmetology industry 💯 loved the video just wish we had more support!
so glad i found this comment, you're paying for so much time, care, skill, and effort! not having the means to spend vs simply telling an artist that they charge "too much" is very different
He just said he can't justify himself spending that much. He isn't saying you don't deserve the money for your talent and hard work because he definitely understands. I think you understood what he said differently to how he meant it
Totally get it, it's a craft and it's art. But I once got quoted $100 for a manicure and a single color. That's really steep for something I could technically have done at home. It's kind of the same with salons, like the ones who charge $70 for a trim. Those are the ones who end up leaving people with a bad taste and outlook. 😒
Ah, but a lot of people spend a lot of time learning to do their own nails. I’ve been doing mine for 6 years now and prefer how I do mine to how professionals do mine. Most people do go to nail techs, but personally I can’t afford to and investing in supplies to do them myself saves me money in the long run. It’s just preference and nothing against professionals. Just what’s best for each individual
Brad going from excited and happy to upset and done is meeeeeeee. Every time I do my nails I go through the same process 🥲. But the fact that gel is dry as soon as you wipe it clean is always a plus. Knowing I don’t have to worry about it messing up is all the relief I need.
They turned out so amazing! Love it! Also couldn't help but notice how spot on and precise your application was and with small nails, it can be a doozy not to get paint on your finger. This technique would be so fun with big bold/contrasting colours.
There are definitely some opaque yellows, but that Gelish yellow is super transparent. I have it and was not impressed. It was my first and last Gelish polish. Other brands make much better yellows that are opaque in 2 coats (I have some that are even opaque in 1)
@@tayloryoung4274 yes but that's because it has white base pre added to the polish. But pigment of yellow is naturally translucent. But, yes, it's just good to know to add White under it to make it show. (Better then ending up with Polish Mountain like Cristine.)
Oh Brad…I can hear the nail techs crying ‘oh you can’t justify paying a professional but everyone else has to for their hair?’ from here 😄 I lysm dude. 🌈🤍
@@StefanieRenaeArts thank you so much 🙏🏼 have missed the gigging life with the new reality we are in, had to move into new things. But will maybe start uploading more to make up for it ☺️🤍
I agree, I did 2 years training to do nails as well as the 3 years doing hair. The products cost more and takes just as long. However if any nail tech is charging hundreds for a gel Polish I wouldn't go. A gel Polish is around £25-30 wherever you go in the UK. We deserve paying as much as a sylist does.
I love how Brad always talks about the integrity of being a hair dresser yet is DIYing his nails, questioning the pricing and not even using the correct lamp. If I made videos I’d do nail tech reacting to Brad doing his nails 😂
He did it right after the purple phase... After his colorful hair video, in the next one he already has his natural eyebrows. And my honest opinion is that his natural eyebrow color or even darker, suits him the best according to his gorgeous eye color. My mom and aunt have also this blue greenish color... For me, this eye color is the most super gorgeous eyes that can exist. Sure, plain blue, green and purple are also beautiful... But this cat eye color mix is just WOW.
"I feel like I can't justify spending hundreds of dollars on myself for nails..." I can afford it but I feel that exact same way about my hair....sorry. Also,my sister is a colorist(color stylist..?)..anyway a cosmetologist great with color...so there's that.
You can remove your nails if is bad not your hair (well you can but ...) maybe that’s why is justify the price but I also thing pay for nails it’s importante but less engagement
They look GOOD!!! Great job, and it was so nice to see you enjoying the process. It’s not a true beauty regimen if you don’t have a meltdown halfway through!
Nailtech here...I'm DIEING!🤣 You went from so happy wanting to "Do Nails," To "Don't ever do this, this is so hard." You really have to love it for sure. You're nails turned out cute!!
I love watching nail videos and have been doing my nails myself for 12 years now and have done everything from normal polish, gel polish, dip, polygel, acrylic. I love your videos and how excited you get and how much pride you have in your work. They turned out AMAZING!!
Mmhmm lol Me :: takes 4 hours to do 5 nails 💅 paints landscape portraits :: My friends: Those look cute, have you tried Color Street? Me: 🤦♀️ If I wanted stickers I'd use stickers with a gel top coat. Besides this mani would cost at least $200. I used 9 colors and spent 4 hours doing them. Friends: You should try Color Street it takes me 30 minutes Me: it takes you 30 minutes to use stickers? 👀🤣🤣
If you ever want to do blended nail polish again, you can also put the polish on a make up sponge. And you can look up a tutorial by Simplynaillogical😊
I would love for you and simplynailogical to do a collab. Maybe you could cut her hair and she could do your nails. Or maybe you could do her nails and she could attempt to color your hair.
I’m in love with this process, I have an awesome nail tech and I will be going tomorrow to do this! Let me paint, and help with the technical side of gel, and I will be a seriously happy lady!
BIG TIP!!! I do this all the time. Best thing to use is a cheap wedge make up applicator. Layer it down to what you want, then roll/press in onto your nail. You usually have to do 3 presses but the results are amazing.
I use one of those sponges for glitter polishes. It soaks up the extra liquid so when you dab it on, you get solid glitter instead of just glitter specks.
@@XSemperIdem5 starting to think he did it on purpose. ALSO Simply has pride holo, this could have been a pride holo gradient. It’d be rainbows of rainbows in a rainbow!!
Lol he is talking about why he doesn't like going to the nail salon the way I think about going to the hair dressers lol. Waste of money for something that doesn't really matter, and you just sit there. Imagine someone reacting to brads nails ✨ manicurist reacts ✨ lol honestly I think you did amazing!
I'm just SO glad you had fun making this video. I admire that you want to do well at your job but that doesn't take away the fact you deserve to make art you love. Your viewers do not own you nor does fame or clicks or whatever. Make your content, do your work. But don't ever be afraid or justify doing something you LOVE. Thank you for this video.
