@@Tapan_k Maybe that's how long ago the video was published privately, and therefore it shows the time that it was initially commented? How strange, lol.
Thank you for trying on subculture styles and attending my tea party! I hope you enjoyed your time and you looked great! I hope we can try more styles on you hahahaha! 🌟 😬
Another great collab! I hope you show even more youtubers lolita fashion in the future, it's always so much fun to watch and see what kinds of styles you guide them too, they always settle on some really interesting coords!
I guess one of the things that draws me in to Connor's vids is that despite being hellishly awkward he still goes out there and tries new things. The dude is an inspiration
Lolita literally is just about getting dressed up and stuffing your face with food and talking shit with your friends. "Dress the same and not feel out of place" 100% nailed it.
Never in a million years did I think Connor would try this kind of fashion! Applaud for your courage of trying new things and indeed you look gorgeous on that outfit
Really though? After all the other stuff he did this seems comparatively mild. But then everyone is different. Personaly i would prefer dressing myself in these clothes than say dance in a swingerclub, even if i had the body for it ^^
No hate meant, but people really should stop implying they're so unique and special that they could possibly be the "only one" out of billions of people on this planet that has a certain opinion. 😝
Safiya's lolita vid with rinrin is one of my favorite go-to's to put on the background. Glad she collaborated with one of my favorite podcast guys to put on the background. This was very charming!
I’m obsessed with this video ! Your open mind-ness to Lolita is so prevalent throughout the video. The outfit at the end actually suited you so much and to see a community be so accepting of you is so cute!! 😭🫶
as someone that really loves lolita fashion and alternative fashion in general (seeing rinrin in a cdawgva vid is a real treat), I'm always really happy with just how lovely and respectful connor is any time he tries something new like this :)
I love when Conner buts himself out there in experiences he says he never expected himself he would ever do, and he takes along to learn new thing with him :) (Also all those teapots were super cool)
all the wonderful teapots reminded me of this one cafe run by a lady and her daughter, she collects teapots to the point where if people find any teapot in my town they will often eb brought to her. there are so many unique and interesting ones!!
Wow i didn't know Lolita involved victorian and gothic/punk style, i'd love to try that. You looked great connor! That outfit really suits you and she nailed your makeup
There’s actually 3 main styles of lolita: gothic, classic, and sweet Most people think of sweet lolita when they hear lolita, but lolita varies a lot. The style that cdawg is wearing is called Ouji, it’s like a sibling of lolita.
The sister-style of egl - 'elegant gothic aristocrat' is basically Victoriana. It's fantastic (and iirc very popular with the older fashion enthusiasts)
I have a lot of ouji clothes but I have only worn them for Halloween, at friend's houses, and renaissance fairs. I dont have the courage to wear them out so maybe after hearing rin rin talk about it I can do it❤😅 also love the one second of bloodborne that was mentioned its definitely a big inspiration for me wanting to dress up
@@Milkythefawn oh yeah I totally feel that especially since I live in Florida (though not a particularly crazy part). I don't have any specific brand stuff but I try to make/thrift/combine my clothes to look similar to the style so I feel I would be out of place in official groups too.😅
@@ctoinc9471 I get that. I’ve been in the style for a bit now, so I have some brand stuff But when I was a newbie, with only bodyline, I used to feel very out of place and worried I wasn’t “lolita enough” Either way, good luckkk, I hope you can build up the confidence to do whatever you want 😤🫶
As a lolita fashion fan, I really enjoyed this video and seeing an outsider's on the subculture! So many people misinterpret it, thinking it's "Pedophilic" or "Sexualizing minors" just because it shares the same name as he most misunderstood novel of all time, so it's refreshing to see someone who doesn't judge us for participating in this lifestyle
Rinrin wearing Honey Bear's Cafe is so good. I really think Moi Meme Moitie's vibe suited you! It's really fun the get fancy for a special occasion, definitely don't let that outfit rot in your closet if you don't mind making time to get tea once in a while.
I am so happy that you did this video. I myself, is a Lolita and love the style! Been wearing it for a really long time and don’t think I will stop at anytime. Thank you for doing this video!
Lolita is my favourite fashion to wear, I love wearing my dresses out for mundane trips, it’s not super easy to get it in the uk but so much fun to wear
Connor: "Turns out these clothes can be quite expensive." Also Connor: Transition to ad-read with Connor in Off-White jacket that apparently costs 775€.
I love these videos where people get into lolita culture. I've always like frilly dresses and lolita stuff but unfortunately I'm a southeast asian dude that lives in a third world country so my chance of experiencing this culture is very slim to none.
I think a dark long skirt/pants with heavy frills near the bottom, along with buckled ankle boots would look great on Connor. A rock and roll Lolita style!
Ahhhh i really liked this video, i love when he tried vkei style thats what really got me into vkei, id love more videos of different jfashions!! or with more vkei bands 🫣👀
A lot of "lolita" seems to be based on 18th-19th century European fashion, so it makes sense that it would suit a white British person. Connor ended up with a typical 18th century shirt, ruffled at the neck. The wrist ruffles used to signal that the person did not work with their hands.
While in college in WA state, on the metro bus route, there was a girl who wore a whole lolita outfit every day. Every day is a new color and all the accessories are color coordinated, it was so pretty. It was so cool to see it in real life, but i do get nervous for her when she walks thru scary neighborhoods that i wasnt sure how they would react to such a bright outfit. But she's been attending college for 2 yrs so she's been doing well
Rinrin's too pure. She blushes when she sees him in shorts. Meanwhile, Kaho is willing to do all sorts of unholy things to him. Now I need a crossover with both of them so they can simultaneously torture him.
Considering how many stores she's a regular at, and how enthusiastic she is to show Connor around (especially to the more... unsavory places) I'm pretty sure Kaho's basically just a sadistic Onee-San at this point lmao. I mean how many of your older female friends have headlocked you alongside muscle girls at a muscle girl bar? If you answer more than 0, lucky ass bastard Rinrin, on the other hand, is an innocent yet successful imouto and must always keep her shame in mind for the more modest audience, and thus must blush at any and everything you wouldn't show your parents even if she's technically the one making you show said things. One is shameless, the other is modest- I would definitely love to see how their dynamic works. Would Kaho corrupt Rinrin? Would their assembled knowledge of different, less and more ero, domains conflict? Or will they be pleasantly surprised at how much they have in common- enjoying Connor's embarrassment? I wanna know!
As a guy who's always been interested in lolita fashion, it's really cool to see Connor look into it! I kinda felt it wasn't something I could be comfortable actually interacting with since that space is so feminine, (not that that's a bad thing!) but seeing how openly Connor approached it kinda made me reconsider that :)
I think you should deffinitely try out what you're interested in, make peace with yourself if it doesn't fit in the "norms" of your environment, and don't be afraid to take criticism, or even be laughed at and singled out 🤷in the process, and on the long term, it will probably be a great and rewarding experience. And, if you're attracted to ladies, many prefer men who are comfortable with themselves, as in not putting a boundry macho stuff/feminine stuff.
You should check out “ouji” it’s a more masculine I guess Lolita type kinda thing… I’m not sure how to explain it. But it’s super cute, got the Lolita essence to it, and I see a lot more guys do that. While girls still do dress in it.
As someone who wears lolita but has never been to a lolita event, if you're interested in the fashion you should still try it out, just getting to feel like you're in clothes that bring you joy is honestly the most important part
you really should try it! i wear it semi-regularly when i walk to the city and for every bad look there's at least ten compliments. the last time i wore a jsk on the train i had 5 people stop me to say that they loved my dress :)
Its always so wholesome & cute how Connor is basically willing to try anything once & is pleasantly surprised when he ends up liking some stuff. Also emo Connor would've been so sick in some alt universe 😂
Kinda disappointed Connor didn’t end up going to the tea party in a full Lolita coord, but he honestly fits into the ouji aesthetic really well as a British orphan boy. Plus I just happened to be dressed in ouji fashion today so the release was perfect.
I wish he explored ouji fashion more, since I doubt the girls even explained him what the term means, or what to look for in order to dress more masculine lolita. Indeed he looked beautiful, I'm sure you do too in your ouji clothes ♡
Even if he was RinRin's special guest, I don't think a lot of the attendees would have liked a fully grown man with a beard wearing lolita, especially at a big tea party like that it would have been taking the piss. However, if he shaved, slapped on a wig and cute makeup on like he did for the cosplay video, that would have been fine and I'm sure Connor would have looked really cute!
Maybe in the future, he'll find a Lolita shop with his size. That way, he can find a better match. I definitely wanted to see him in more ruffles or a tail coat.
That chosen outfit was actually kind of fire on Connor. Immediately knew that this was it when they put him in that corset belt thing. That's the kind of look he can pull off beautifully with his face and demeanor.
aaa the butterfly pea flower tea to match the purple/yellow color theme was a really cute idea. Rinrin's killing it over there, everyone in the international community is so proud of how well she's done for herself. Props to Connor for venturing out of his comfort zone and thank you for featuring the fashion!
How many Black Butler jokes did you cut out of this video, Connor, (be real)?😂I actually just got back from a meetup with my local lolita community and this was a crossover I wasn't expecting. I've been in the fashion since 2010 and it's always really refreshing to see people come at it with an open mind and a positive outlook. I'm glad you enjoyed learning a little about it.
Heh. Before I stopped (or at least have taken a very long hiatus) with writing fanfiction, I had thought up a blue tea for Final Fantasy XV that would be the pride and joy of the country of Tenebrae. The game heavily features a blue flower called a Sylleblossom, so it would've been Sylleblossom tea. Didn't know blue tea actually exists, though!
I'm really happy this was a positive video. Lolitas get so much hate and its literally just people being creative with clothes and eating sweet pastries as a passtime.
What on earth is there to hate, I can't even imagine what that would look like?? "Screw you guys for dressing really cute and being fucking gorgeous" 😂
Most Lolitas are fine, it's the purists that get the hate. You know the type that's foaming from their mouth gatekeeping about all the dress rules etc. Honestly, that's the reason I very quickly abandoned the subculture when I was a teen....
Why do people insist on victimizing basically everything? I have never seen the Lolita style hated on. I'm sure it happens, as literally all things get hated on, regardless of how harmless they are. But I guarantee they don't get hated on nearly enough to warrant a comment talking about how hated on they supposedly are.
For anyone who really likes the outfit Connor wears to tea and would be interested in trying that style for themselves, it's not technically called "Lolita" itself as that's usually the term used for the style with dresses or skirts, but it is a very closely related style with a lot of overlap. It's kind of the "male" version of lolita although it can be worn by anyone no matter whether you're male, female, androgynous etc. Search terms to use would be "Ouji", "Kodona", "Boystyle", "Aristocrat", "Neo Victorian" and "Dandy"
@@sonerkamer2678 There is a bit of crossover due to victorian influences that are present in both. There was also a bit of a leap in the popularity of steampunk fashion in Japan a while back and the mingling of steampunk with lolita and lolita related styles was an element of that.
Lolita since 2011 here, you did a great job Connor! The style you're wearing is Ouji/Boystyle/Elegant Gothic Aristocrat! Make sure you take good care of those Moitie clothes, they are worth a pretty penny even secondhand. 😜 Thanks for giving the lolita community a fair shake and being so open-minded. Also what Rinrin said is definitely true for many lolitas: the first time you put it on there's something about it that just feels right. And most of us were originally goths/emos before we found the fashion, quite common! 😂 Hope to see you two collab more in the future, thanks for another great vid Monke! 🦍🦍🦍 oug oug oug
Sorry for commenting after so long, but I wanted to ask if you know any good brands or websites for anyone wanting to get into Lolita fashion? I’ve always wanted to try it!!
@@spoons5308 I'm a bit late but here it is: Taobao, Closet Child, 42lolita, Angelic pretty, Moi-meme-Moitie, Baby the stars shine bright 😽 Btw, there are lots of brands on closed child! I'm interested in Lolita and Ouji fashion myself, but my family won't let me wear what I want because they're closed-minded, so I hope you can have fun wearing Lolita!
I just got home from hosting a lolita meetup at a cemetery so THIS PLEASES ME. So happy they put him in Moitie, but RIP his wallet bc that brand is so expensive. Lolita literally is just about getting dressed up and stuffing your face with food and talking shit with your friends. "Dress the same and not feel out of place" 100% nailed it.
@shikharmalik1622 I have been to a couple cemeteries that were like historic sites that are no longer used for burials but are more like parks with benches and flower gardens and stuff.
Something about a group of people gathering for tea in ridiculously bombastic and cute outfits just makes me happy. Irrationally so perhaps. But I like that this exist. Go Rinrin.
the silk shirt looked a bit out of place on connor by itself, but adding the harness/corset and the long vest completed the whole look to make it look really flattering on him. 10/10 fantastic choices Rinrin! she's really got such a greta eye for fashion
