I would struggle so hard without my pinks 😂. I feel your pain when it comes to not having specific colors of your go to palette. You gotta learn a whole new skill on the spot. You smashed this one. Here’s to more kiptoe pinks
I also suggest @kiptoe to make a colour wheel that has colours that you have NEVER used and then find ways to input your pallet. I think you could have even pulled it off even with your pallet, plus pink!
The production value of these videos can not be overstated. Good lord, the script to the flow to the background music to the ABSOLUTELY KILLER ART.... you are a powerhouse. Pink it up, G
The colors are my favorite thing about this mural! Usually your colors are very similar, a little too similar in my opinion, so I am really happy to see what's happening here! (: Keep experimenting!
You can take on anything that’s thrown at you! So amazing!! I really enjoyed watching your process from days and nights of you completing this mural - The energy; poise and action all communicated your determination! And sometimes all it takes is one different color to challenge us and push us forward with grand stride.
Dont know if this advice is useful for someone with your experience but what I often do if I need to use colours I'm not comfortable with I go into photoshop with an existing drawing and use the Hue/Saturation sliders until one of the colors matches. That way I have a drawing that matches the color I'm looking for while keeping the balance of colors Im used to. Easy way to the color pick a color palet that works.
Yes, i did that with this one as well, but picking out sprays from a rack and trying to figure out what colors go where when you've never used them before is harder than it sounds! Thanks for watching!
Man I feel so much of this lol. Working with colors you're not comfortable with, feeling like "oh, this is horrible, everything looks bad", and going around obstacles included with the wall. It's comforting at least that even somebody as professional as you feels the same
Love what you were doing. Maybe someone can weld together a basket holder for you to put your box of spray cans in which can be hung on the rails on a lift or even scaffolding. That way you don’t have to keep on bending down every time you switch spray cans. Save your back bro.
nice idea! Would be tricky to travel with, but something to think about! My friend Detour made some 3D printed magnetic individual can holders for that
I love the pinks in this, and the whole painting is dope! I'm sure you could hear me saying, "Don't fall!" while you were on that ladder toward the end; it looked rather precarious! Great job!
STUNNING!!!!!!!! and that shade of green is amazing!!! As soon as you started to apply it against the pinks and lavenders, I yelled "Woot!!! there it is"!!!!! Ha!! Kiptoe, you're amazing!!! stop doubting yourself and always be up for a challenge. TY for yet another amazing work of art. When I get to Austin next time, I'm going to check this out in person!!! Sending love from Tampa Bay, FL :-)
I love your work so much I'm going to take an hour and a half drive up to Austin to check out your mural. Looks like it's on the east side maybe off of 6th or 7th Street. Excellent addition to Austin. Thanks for being such a badass artist and a huge inspiration! 👍
@@Kiptoe I spent 18 years in Austin and just moved to San Antonio. That's exactly where I thought you were at. Thanks for giving me the precise location but I'm sure I would have found it no problem. Your style is so unique and beautiful. 🙏
I love this so much! Seeing you raw and questioning but pushing through is amazing. It’s not even the end but I know it will be unquestionably Kiptoe. Thanks for sharing your process 💗
Man love the fact you just go for it, and try to change your colors it's amazing. Also, it's been really cool how you have been editing the videos, it's awesome.
I agree, that "Everything looks like ssht" stage is so hard to overcome but you ROCKED IT!!! Also thank you for showing that realistic side of art which is doubting ourselves during the process, it is so common but hardly spoken about. Videos like yours give me the push I need to go on!! 🥰
Gotta say I've only started to watch you but your positivity and honest approach has really helped my state of mind. Recently, we'll of a few years I've been slowly getting more negative and demotivated in life. Functionality was getting less and less. I wasn't expecting this pull. I was actually researching how to paint monochromatic. I decided to learn a new skill and post after post I came across your channel and this is the 2nd of your vids I watched. I'm nor sure if your realised the effect you've had on me. It's like a shot of adrenaline and push to make me realise I 'can do' when I was deadpanning to the point I was fearing to even start believing I'd fail. I couldn't push through that crumbling panic which I knew was sabotaging myself yet couldnt stop the wave from overwhelming me. This moment has made feel more like maybe I can do stuff, I can get up in the morning with a feeling of looking forward to something. I felt I could instead of always feeling I always couldn't. Thank you. Humbly, gratefully I'm so grateful that I've even felt this after my mindset was so low. Thank you
Came out great. The pink matches awsome with the dark ocean like green in the mane and the wing and even the olive like green in the feathertips and the backround. Love it 💖💜💙💚
I absolutely love you're using these different colors!! really really super fantastic work!!! Your style with these colors... it's blowing my mind. thank you
That is just stunning Kiptoe. It amazes me how you set it up and get your perspective . I guess you've done enough of these to Know what you're doing by eye now though..... Great job 👏 👍 👌
I've watched this video a bunch of times on my tvs and I'm intentionally not logged in on them, but I just realized I wasn't subscribed to the channel, and I have watched sooooooooo many videos from this channel at home where I do my art. Subscribed on my phone now, so I can like and comment and share to my heart's content. Great work Kyptoe!
It's fascinating to learn, both from our own struggle, or noting it in others as they struggle to create. The part of being our own worse critics is true and I've seen it in others. That's why I'm less of being my own critic these days, and listen to what others have to say. It's even more fascinating to watch a creation go from being something we're not to sure of, or happy with it, but to be able to tweak it, to improve as we go. And to call what you created Good, is the satisfaction we gain by not giving up. Another awesome job, bro. 😊
Absolutely gorgeous! Great job rolling with it and making something fantastic! That green was the PERFECT touch. It's exactly what it needed. I totally felt that struggle with your inner voice though. Been there. We're always our own worst critics and it's hard sometimes to see past those bold choices to how it is going to look in the end. You nailed it. Next time you have to go out of your comfort zone into pink, I'd love to see you play with a cyberpunky pallet. I think you could really do something badass with it.
Wow bro ..blown away those colors cane together despite how you felt at first and I could see why..the color of the lasso and eyes us sick stands out perfectly..dig your eye bro dope vision respect 🙏
I love challenges, when you have to think outside the box you go more creativ and this opens doors! Love it, even tho pink is defenetly not my go to color.
Its crazy to see how significant your color palette is 😲 At first i couldn't recognize your style - but you definitely nailed it, fo sure! Realy cool to see your artwork in another colorway! 🌈🔥
Glad to see you step out of your comfort zones and be a little more vulnerable than usual. I believe you were one of the lucky ones to attend the first phase of David Choe's Choe Show back in the day...right? You should no that stepping out of your comfort zone is always a necessity when it comes to created badass artwork. This is one of my favorite videos from you now. Finally some different colors to see how you use them...Thanks for sharing. U R ENUFF. You Are Art. You are Munko. We love you. I love you. Dosume.
You are as charming as you are talented, I love how you noticed and enjoyed the bird symphony every evening. It was fun to watch you push your boundaries and keep it positive. Nice pegasus and beautiful color palette!
Kip, the amazing artist man, I haven't seen you in a while (looked at 'tons' of your videos in the past) , but just now ran upon this one. As always, you're 'Mr. Creative' on a mass scale. Such an inspiration to us all, and always with a great attitude. Thanks-a-million for sharing your artistic journey with the world. We artists appreciate it 'no end'.
I think the pinks really brought it to life! You did an awesome job!! Love your content. And just like the spray can said - false confidence leads to real confidence
Gr8 job stepping out of ur comfort zone of ur color palette...looks gr8 to me and has just the right pinks, purples, and other colors used for this mural!!! Keep the videos coming!! Til next tyme...keep those cre8ive juices abrewing!!!
Hot pink is my thing. I love this! It turned out great. I really dig that teal green and the darkness.. it gives it such a cool vibe. I've been thinking lately, about how I never see pegasus these days.. like unicorns have fully taken over, and I wonder if these new generations even know about pegasus. I also kept thinking about how your site needs more feminine/ lady shirts.. because I'd feel really masculine trying to wear those lions.. even though the art is fantastic. I would love to see you incorporate hot pink into your works.
Randomly watching your vid while I was working on something. Regarding those overhead wires. Just because the building is vacant actually doesn't mean they aren't still live. Sometimes they are feeding multiple buildings so the company will leave them energized. The best thing you could do is try to isolate yourself from the ground with a ladder that doesn't conduct electricity. Even if you are on a ladder such as that there is still a possibility of electrocution when the right situation is in place. Try and be very careful when working around stuff like that. Turned out great btw!
That turned out fantastic! When you started doubting your "greens"/teals, I was here yelling at my screen, "No dude those are perfect! Keep going! Keep Going!" I love working with pinks, purples, and teals/turquoise and putting them all together. I will be working on a real cool color scheme (as in cold/blue toned colors), and step back and say to myself it needs a touch of hot/warm colors. Your pinks and lavenders needed those greens/teals.
I love your work man and I’ve honestly thought that your use of just a few colors has really limited your creativity. This video shows me that you’re definitely opening your brain up to different things, and only good things can come from that
I really enjoyed watching from start to finish. You did an awesome job :) Keep the artistic fire burning for all to see. and know no matter how big the hurtle is nothing is impossible :) You Rock :)
Another epic wall, Another epic video production ❤️❣️❤️❣️ You have so many layers of talent❣️❤️❣️ Love your example of pushing through. Tons of love from Cathey & Glen in Texas.
