I don't know about a custom re-tune. But... - Betaflight 4.3 - BF 4S 5" Freestyle preset - BlueJay for RPM Filtering on the ESC Personally a fan of the S4 props
@@DarrenAllatt the presets with maybe a couple of filter tweaks with bluejay was what I was generally referring to. I figure some low pitch props will help a lot with that propwash problem. Could probably go as high as a 4.5 pitch prop and be fine. I'd probably start low with the 4 and see if it has enough to punch out first.

I'd get an Ratel 2 and upgrade the props (I use Racerstar 5048 since I am cheap). You already fixed the VTX and antenna, I think thats decent. Then install a buzzer and change the EP2 out for an EP1 to get better range.
As for your review of the quad I would change the following. 1 yes props I would go with gemfans windancers or whisky's 2 camera go with caddx for FPV or digital 3 VTX hdzero or DJI 4 motors 2700kv for speed That would I do.
Noooooooooo don't spend $100 to upgrade it. Go in a different direction...just try to see how little u can spend to get it to fly properly. I think that would be more useful to know whether you can spend $84 + minimum upgrades, props and tune it as is and see if it does any better.

I never even tried those props they went straight into the trash , plus I had got mine in late August and same everything except BF 4.3 so it flew pretty well. I did upgrade vtx to Iflight sucexx it was a tight fit in the back I actually had to re-solder the battery cable to get the vtx under the power wires. The stock vtx wasn’t terrible but I had an extra vtx so I threw it in along with a Camera and now it is my favorite flyer. I know own 3 of these and they all came in perfect condition and I do consider myself a bit lucky in that regard.
The Tyro ESC didn't come PRE FRIED from factory? I'm actually surprised! I was dumb enough to order a Tyro 119 DIY and the electronics all died a quick death on transport to me... Yes, the replacement esc also died. It now has a RUSH stack and damn it hauls ass!
With such low prices for hardware you have to think, what are they missing to produce it at this price. Typically the first thing cut from production is QA.
First video I have watched of yours super impressed with your review format will definitely be watching some more. The quad looks like a bit of a red flag tho, although I want expecting it to be good at this price. Those eachine tyro119 stacks are known for blowing up.
@@DarrenAllatt Yeah I am still kinda tempted to buy one and tinker with it even though just the esc alone in my current 5inch build costs more 😂. I think with the mods you did and a cheap mamba esc it would actually be a pretty good value quad, that would be nice to have as a backup/beater.

Interesting review wonder what mine will be like has 2306 1850kv motors different frame and looks like a different vtx with a polarised antenna one interesting thing to note is its being shipped without the motors soldered on so I'll have to do it myself
No, although ELRS now has functionality to use SBUS; I wired it to UART 5 - tx to rx and RX to tx because the Fc will send telemetry back to the radio.
upgrade vtx to speedybee tx800. upgrade camera to foxeer razer mini. betaflight 4.3. bluejay blheli s firmware. new props, p3 s or sum. axi xilo. and emax eco ii’s. should be abt 100 bucks
You are on the money with the SpeedyBee TX800 and I’ve ordered that with the antenna combo. Just did BlueJay and 4.3 this morning. R35 props as Ethix are out of stock in Aus. ECO2’s blow the budget. Went with the Ratel2 as the Razer is also out of stock locally or those that have stock price it closely to the Ratel2
Noob question. Where did you guys connect the elrs (ep1). I think I got it to bind but can't get the controller to work? I am new to this. Seem like tx5 and rx5 is where you connected but just confirming.
Awesome video! What betaflight target did you use to update to 4.3? My gyro update frequency is locked at 3.2 khz. The target is MATEKF405STD. I'm not sure what is wrong. I have never seen a gyro update frequency locked to a value before.
I’d rather just build with Gravity Loss Frames ones that don’t break, ever. Only build with premium stacks. I wouldn’t upgrade this I would just give it away to someone who needs it. Even just starting out, don’t get crap, get good stuff and you will have the best experience long lasting durable & that will easily go over 120mph in 1 sec
@@chrisbee5481 you do realise the Darwin240, Wizard220 and Skystar228 are all the same drone as the this one? Same components (except the wizard uses individual escs) - they are all $90 drones being sold for $200+
@@DarrenAllatt the motors are different. Maybe they are similar. Agree on that. But who says they are exactly the same? You will need a side to side comparison. Just the frame and motors already do mean something. There are dozens of 405 FCs on the market too. But they all have 5 inch in common xD Appreciate your review!

Don't! You'll be sorry! Cheap = junk parts = low life span = constantly repairing = lots of down time waiting for parts to arrive! Buy quality up front and it'll cost you way less over a years time! Plus, you'll be able to fly it any day you want because quality parts aren't always needing repairs, so no down time! 😎🤘
@@KOrnhOliO1 that’s not bad advice, however no matter what you buy (in terms of Drones) they will always cost you $$ over the life time because if you aren’t crashing and breaking it - you’re not sending it.
@@KOrnhOliO1 I just wanted to have a look at it and see the price in my local currency, I probably won't buy one as I already have a source one v3 with a caddx vista and another analogue source one v3 and like 5 or 6 micro quads. Might be a good option tho to buy that cheap quad and put crossfire in it and send it long range over the sea or a river, who cares if it falls down into the water it's only $100 loss
I wouldn't have bought that cheapest FPV quad on the Internet in the first place! Cheapest means cheap, low quality parts, which break, burn out, don't work from the get go, or some other way of failing is bound to happen ... And soon! So, after you spend your $100 Upgrading your garbage quad, you'd be better off just spending the total sim of money on a good quality quad, with great quality parts, in the first place! 👍 Guys, don't buy this Junk! They're problems right out of the gate ... Just like he had! They will end up costing you double, or more likely triple, your original cost in the first year or two of ownership! Repairs galore!!! Buy quality in the first place and don't have all the down time waiting for more parts all of the time. 🤷🥴
