Today, I’m climbing to the top of Paris. Not just for the view, but to eat at a 2-Michelin-star restaurant located on the second level of the Eiffel Tower. It’s called Le Jules Verne.
The head chef behind this restaurant is Frédéric Anton.

My name is Alexander. I’m the co-owner of a ONE Michelin star restaurant, and I’m on a mission - to find inspiration in gastronomy. I love fine dining, good wine and sharing what I know with other people.

Alexander has been too kind this time around. Ammonia tasting frozen prawns in the raviolis, a main course of onion, potato and a spoonful of braised meat, a limited wine list, a worn down interior decor and a queue for the restroom….sounds like a big tourist trap to me. Ps. The staff uniforms looked pretty worn out as well.

I wanted to eat there ever since I saw a view to a kill with Roger Moore. I was thrilled to eat there about ten years ago when a friend had a birthday lunch there. The food is not the very best I have ever had, and it is a bit of a tourist trap. But if you just “go with it” you will find yourself enjoying the meal and the amazing views. Of course the conversation and company made the meal (not to mention the copious amount of booze: 🍸

I thoroughly enjoyed your video about your experience at Le Jules Verne. The stunning views of Paris from the Eiffel Tower were breathtaking, and the food sounded exquisite. While I understand the challenges of operating a Michelin-starred restaurant in such a unique location, I believe your overall assessment was fair. The combination of the exceptional service, the ambiance, and the iconic setting make Le Jules Verne a truly memorable dining experience. Thank you for sharing your detailed review!

I had this on the shortlist for a recent trip to Paris but ultimately got the feeling that purely based on food you could get a similar standard at much better price points throughout the city. This video reaffirmed that. It looked decent and I know they have other costs to facilitate the location, but Paris is packed with other romantic, special views that don't add a hundred Euros per person. I'd still like to go to try it out, but there's many others I'd like to try first.

Apropos the stemware, it may be that close quarters makes for a lot of breakage, and there’s no point constantly replacing Riedel glasses.

I had a dinner reservation for Le Jules Verne for next month, but after seeing inconsistent reviews, decided to change to guy savoy and pierre gagnaire lunches instead. This confirms that I should just go up the tower for the moment then eat elsewhere. Thanks.

You know how they have different stamps for passports depending on the country. - They should have some kind of food passport where the Michelin Star resturants / high quality resturants gives you their own special stamp.

The markup on the wine and Champagne is INSANE ! The Rosé is second tier at best… Making you pay for what is basically tap water is borderline illegal in France… You’re paying for the view and that’s all ! Shameful and so glad people are seeing this not worth the price demanded for it. Thanks for that !

25 years ago we went on Jules verne. Very pricy, uninteresting food (for the price), but beautiful view and a that time the ability to end-up on a Salon with a view over Paris, to taste a great Cognac and a cigar. I think if you could afford it, do it once, for the view. Not for the food.

My parents and my grand-parents went to diner 30 years ago to celebrate their retirement. They ordered sea food and expensive champagne. Looks fresh and tasty at first. The thing is, my mother, at that time, didnt know she was gonna have one of her worst night ever. She was so sick the same night my dad almost called the ambulance. She vomited all night because of the sea food they ate. Weirdly, neither my dad ans his parents had problems... Since that day, she never eat sea food ever again...
