Last day my beginners course is 50% off! jakedontdraw.gumroad.com/l/AcademicDrawing Big plans for future drawing live classes and recorded courses! Also lots more free content here! I have my discord with free guides in my most recent video description!
I'm a writer and don't paint or draw at all. But a lot of times when I'm really struggling with writers block I watch your videos and apply what I can to my work and it really helps! Focusing on the structure of the story and the main overarching things instead of getting bogged down in the small details. That's what I took away from the point you made about colors not mattering as much as value! And it really was extremely helpful! I want to try to write by pen and paper instead of laptop today!
.. it does look nice. Are you even with us right now? Do you have eyes? Oh, please, enlighten me, abdielradames. Maybe you know something I don't?@@malintended
@@mahzi_productions do you mean how you learn the fundamentals? when applying the fundamentals you can paint in any medium (because you know how to make an image)
@@m0nologger okay, I'm not here for semantics. I'm here for the specifics of what this person is translating from VR to IRL. It is all real art, graffiti is art, video games are harbingers of art, I'm not unaware.
@@MigWith and yes, I figure this much, I was more so looking for techniques, or mindsets that weren't there before trying the game. Maybe they realized they could do something a specific way that they didn't even consider till just fucken around in VR
HeavyPaint and WebbyPaint are just incredible pieces of software they really make you think and approach art differently and encourage experimentation, love them!
I love how this dude is all about trust the process, experiment with different styles, learn the fundamentals And practice! Really a big fan of you man.Very inspirational for the many folks out here like me who dont know painting but are interested in it.
He's already blown up dude, he had 400 subscribers when I subscribed just a few months ago!! And like a week ago he had 50k, now it's more than double that
The way this ended up looking kinda reminds me of the character portraits you’d see in Disco Elysium. Just a little less intentionally grimey (grimey in the sense of they would intentionally leave in details that felt like they made the characters look dirty)
My favorite part of this short goes beyond the material you’re teaching in the short itself. It’s that I’ve watched enough of these to the point that I can point out the specific techniques you’ve taught in other shorts that shaped the face. I can see that the skull is like a box, I can see the darks being used on the face to indicate depth… for the first time in a while I genuinely feel like I learned something on RU-vid.
you’re an amazing teacher. i watched some of your videos and remembered the ideas of value and then went to draw a portrait for the first time. it looked like i had lots of experience. amazing
I actually would like you to see you try watercolor. because I agree in terms of the basics of design but physical mediums also have a skill curve that one needs to adjust for just because of the materials and how they interact with each other in this realm. so I would be interested to see how your background/approach translates into a medium like watercolor and to see you learn your way around that as well! would be a fun exploration 😁
Brother. I want you to know, your videos and your shorts are quite inspiring and motivating. You are compelling me to explore art again. I'm fascinated by digital art. My recommendations on a drawing tablet for a newbie on a budget?
Pencil and paper! I am a traditional artist first, I don't really like digital much. Too many tools and doesn't feel as good. If you insist on digital, huion and xp pen make good budget tablets
As someone who primarily uses watercolors, i dont make decent paintings half the time... While i love them, watercolors are the least forgiving medium aside from tattooing 😂
This is to all the young artists watching this being ashamed for drawing the same 3 things with the same tools every day: Art is your hobby. It's supposed to be fun. If this brings you joy, keep doing it. I ruined my enjoyment of art by watching endless tutorials, trying to do things the "right" way. There is no right way. Just do what makes you happy
i would watch some more of ur vids/shorts that are about trying different programs. i see digital artists blame their program all the time (a bad workman blames his tools!).
i've been trying to find the name of this software for a while!! i've seen some stuff Aleksander Rostov has done with it, and i've been meaning to practice with it too. it seems really good for loosening up the art process
How can these lessons be applied in real life? Additionally, will this type of digital art be considered as genuine painting? Art is inherently beautiful and personal. To the reader, which form of art do you find more valuable?
A couple of anatomical errors I spotted include the forehead and skull being too small as well as the chin being way too long. The bottom of the lips should lay approximately in the middle of the space between the bottom of the nose and the edge of the chin.
You should tone it down about the “right way.” You have lots of valuable information here but there is absolutely no “right way.” Many people misunderstand music theory to be a rule set when it’s actually just a language used to define specific and sometimes less specific music aspects. There are no rules in music and there are no rules in the arts in general. Maybe there’s a wrong way to do a plié but it might be one hell of a last performance.
