This is the version of Minecraft I started out with, and mentally I cannot escape this era of the game. Even in the newest updates: all of my houses are blocky and made of oak wood, I never talk to villagers, and half the time I'm searching for ores by digging in random directions. Maybe make an incredibly simple redstone door on occasion. Besides that I know nothing about the zany youtuber tricks people talk about. If you try to talk to me about the iron-manning dream you built with your s.m.p bed bombs, I have no idea what your talking about and I probably used those terms incorrectly.

Kevin, life has been bad lately and your videos make everything better. My partner and I have been relying on you for years and you are one of the things we bonded over in the beginning

The amount of effort Kevin puts in for little clips and funny edits really pays off they are some of the best parts

I was just watching Simon's Peculiar Portions and now I get hit with Minecraft with the Yogscast intro music, that's a wave of nostalgia I wasn't expecting

Kevin getting a bit scared at points definitely makes me feel a bit better that this was the only version of Minecraft I've ever tried, found scary/anxiety inducing with not knowing what to do at night or crafting things, and not touching the game since! 🤣

I honestly miss older versions of Minecraft. Just little things though; no hunger system, no chewing, no sprinting, no obnoxious creatures, and no pillagers. I do welcome many things from over the years though; village’s, more recourses, more biomes, mineshafts, pets, better combat, and some other things I can’t think of right now.

I remember in the early days of Minecraft I made a cobblestone castle with water flowing from and overhang all the way around, flowing into cacti. The only entrance was underwater. It was absolutely impregnable and a good source of mob loot since they all died to the cacti. Ah memories.

One thing I would love is to Kevin do old challenges that were in the early alpha/beta stages of Minecraft. Like the 404 challenge. They were some classic content and seeing them resurface would be a lot of fun.

Ah man. This takes me so far back playing Halo 3 with friends when one told me to try out Minecraft. Started out so basic and simple. Something about that first version just roped me in.

God, old Minecraft had so much better world generation. I remember at some point they changed the world generation to add a new feature, and all the terrain just looked dull as hell from then on. Place torches at the left side of a tunnel, when you go OUT of your home, so if you'll need to return back, you'll need to have the torches to the right. This can help you return from very complicated mines with no problem.

yeah I remember back in the day that everything jumped, was hilarious to see and play. Some people even had a Zombie spawner to make an Underground rave party with the Zombies, keeps you wheezing all day through.

The very first version of Minecraft I ever played was 1.0.15 so this video was very nostalgic to me. It was fun knowing stuff like how there were no beds or charcoal on these versions before Kevin did but there was still some old stuff I had forgotten like the worlds menu. Before they added the Nether, I remember feeling like I officially won Minecraft when I crafted my first diamond pickaxe. The memories ☺

I still remember my first minecraft world vividly. Wish I could get the seed to generate it again... Back in my day we had to use a glitch to boost our minecarts. It would fling you down the track at extreme speeds. Sometimes even in the right direction!

It was a lot more fun when you weren't forced to use the bed all the time. During the day you went out exploring and once the sun went down you either stayed outside and killed monsters or went indoors to focus on crafting or building. It just felt more cozy and immersive.

planting seeds in some older version on Minecraft (2:57) has a bug where the wheat can "overgrow" and crash the game.

I’ve never played Minecraft myself (probably going to soon… ) but I’ve watched all of Kevin’s Minecraft videos and I hope he never stops making them. so yeah, this guy is just the best.

I especially miss the mods from this time, they were so experimental and when you’d use them - it would be a totally different game. The thing I miss most is the single Roses.

Honestly, Kevin could do anything and I'd watch it and enjoy it. Especially when it comes to Minecraft, I love any Minecraft video, they're always so fun /gen /pc :)

This is the version I played when I was six/ seven!! Until the last couple of years, I genuinely didn't know you could put wood in furnaces because I grew up learning these rules!! I constantly was lost in caves (and still fear it), the "i" for inventory is still engraved within me, it took me ages to learn to sprint (2017??), I HATED grass when it was added and always remove it, and the "oof" sound took me back!!! Jeez, what a throwback.

Seeing this version of Minecraft takes me back to the Misadventures of MinecraftChick

i remember when the nether was added and my friends and i got so excited that after school we went home jumped on skype (what was available at the time) and played for hours. seeing this alpha version has brought back so many memories

IIRC the game at this point saved player data and world data separately. So when the game crashed at 3:05 the player data was saved but the world data remained from before the chest was made at 2:38.

kevin seemed to be very enthusiastic about finding mushrooms for soup, so i think we as a community should band together and make sure he gets lots and lots of soup for eternity (:
